Round 3, Part 6
"Nuvem's innocent," Manchado announced, looking at the elder apologetically. Rugido growled, stepping in front of his mate. His tail lashed back and forth as he met the leader's gaze.
"Of course she is! Come on Nuvem, let's go lay in the sun," Rugido suggested. He and his mate turned around, and padded off. The rest of the tribe dispersed as well, muttering about who it could be.

Tankani woke up in the middle of the forest, exactly how Javari had described it. The plants seemed black and dead, she was standing in cold, thick mud, and not a single star could be seen.
"Ramo! I know you're here, come speak to me!" she yowled angrily. The large male padded silently out of the undergrowth, an ashamed expression on his face. Tankani slashed at him, cutting into his shoulder.
"How dare you! You killed Tikal! My mate, and YOUR BROTHER! You're horrible!" she continued. Ramo hung his head lower, as though seeing Tankani was like seeing Tikal.
"I know, it was wrong. But look on the bright side, you'll be joining him soon!" Ramo told her. Tankani's eyes widened, and she whipped around anxiously. There was no sign of the shadow cat anywhere.
"Why are you doing this, Ramo? What about Xingo and Kapok? They'll be orphans, Maderas isn't there to watch over them anymore. They'll have no one," she pleaded. Ramo turned away, unable to look at her anymore. Then she felt claws tearing into her pelt from behind, and saw Tikal standing in front of her.

"Tankani! Tankani, no!" Kapok cried, burying his face in his mother's fur. Xingo let out a distressed yelp, then ran out of the den, calling for the others. Nuvem slunk out of the elders den, and Xingo barreled into her.
"Shh, it's okay. Me and Rugido will take care of you two," Nuvem assured her, looking towards her mate. "Right, Rugido?" The old male nodded, and headed into the cub den.
"Come on, Kapok. Come with me," he ordered, and picked up the small male by his scruff. He carried Kapok away, as the cub continued to cry loudly for his mother.
"Come on Javari, let's bring Tankani out of that den," Manchado mewed sadly. The two adults went into the den, and came back out with Tankani on their shoulders. They set her down, and shook their heads sadly.
"What kind of a monster would do this? Orphan two cubs?" Masaya asked Chuva, in a hushed tone. Chuva followed her gaze to the crying cubs, and shook her head.
"I don't know, but I have a feeling we'll be joining them soon," she replied. That shut all of the jaguars up, until Nindiri spoke up with unbridled fury.
"It was Preto! Maderas was sleeping by Preto the night he died, and the attacker was a shadow cat! What more evidence do you need!" she cried. Manchado took in a breath, then looked to the black jaguar.
"Very well. We shall vote on Preto again. Everyone, please cast your votes".
