Nico's sweet dream

Weeks passed. And thoughts weeks turned into months. And the day of his trial grew closer and Nico knew it. He didn't have a lot time to finish his great escape, but he had enough. Nico had planned and prepared for the past couple of months, his plan was brilliant. But during those two months several patients checked out. Stephanie and Carl left a few weeks earlier. With smiles and goodbye hugs they left happily and restarted their lives in a new school, new state, new neighbourhood. Nico felt happy that his new found friends had left and started over. Of course he would still have contact with the two, he felt sad that they were gone. He also felt a slight relief that they wouldn't be here to be horribly tortured. That was a plus.

The more he stayed here the sadder he felt. He knew that anyone here would die by his hands, and he was fine by that, but he just felt slightly sad since these people were helped him. And he was grateful. These people were people he would love forever and hold their memories near and dear to himself. Everyone there he loved.

Everyone.

Including a certain roommate.

He was in fact, slightly in love with Samuel. Only slightly. Of course he never showed it and never told Samuel. That was his own little secret that he kept locked up, where no one would be able find it.

Nico ran his fingers over the drawing of the hospital. He memorised it a long time ago and knew every inch of the hospital. His eyes wandered to a little rectangle behind a bedroom. The rectangle was marked "Quiet room", Nico stumbled upon the quiet room not too long ago.

He was walking around the nurses station when he noticed a screen projecting a picture of a small white room. No windows and one huge white door. In the middle of the room was a small bed. He asked one of the nurses what that room was. Her response was 'The Quiet Room.' A room where overly hyper patients went to calm down. The white walls calms down the hyperactive patient and they're fine. But too much time in there makes them hallucinate.

'That would be a nice little area for my little prisoners to spend time in.' He thought to himself.

Ah yes, everything would go smoothly. Everything would go just as planned. None would survive that day, excluding himself. And no one would know that it was him that did this.

Nico smiled down at his blueprints and rolled them up once more. He tucked them safely under his mattress next to a large knife he managed to snatch from the kitchens and several keys to the staff rooms and control rooms. It was amazing how this place bragged about their "top notch security" while in reality, they couldn't even tell that he was stealing these things! Even with the security cameras!

Nico laid back down onto his not-so-soft bed and closed his eyes. He was so close, he could nearly see it. The screams of those who had wronged him. The blood of theirs, bathing the floors. It was a precious image in his mind. He fell into a nice sleep with that image into his mind.

He dreamt of being back home. At school with his best friend, Jade. Jade and a Nico had been friends since preschool. They first met when Jade, being the loudest of the class, brought a photograph of her and her older brother on Halloween dressed as zombies. After that Nico, being the quietest of the class, complimented the photo and they hit it off from there. The two enjoyed many of the same things, music, video games, drawing and so on. Jade was an energetic spirit. Always happy and enthusiastic about everything, whilst Nico was more of a sit down and watch kind of person. Although Jade never allowed that and he was somewhat forced to be active and enthusiastic (even though Nico secretly enjoyed it). They would talk on the phone for endless hours about random things, and they would be each other's outlets. They would rant and vent to each other about anything. They were best of friends.

Recently Jade would start dying her hair outrageous colours ranging from blue, yellow, turquoise, pink and so on. She would always try to get Nico to dye his hair to match hers but sadly, Nico never did. He said that it was dumb to colour his hair and he still thinks so to this day. However, Nico does wish he had. A year ago Jade died after getting run over by a drunk driver. He was depressed for months afterwards. He had lost his best friend. He still thinks of her. He has thought of her everyday since the day of the accident. And he still regrets that he was never able to do anything about it.

He missed her. He missed everything about her. He missed her warped sense of humour. Her sarcastic comments. Her excitement over the little things. He missed her dearly.

'...we all go to hell...mama we all go to hell...~'

A soft singing voice pulled him out of his slumber. He couldn't tell if it was Samuel or not but he didn't dare open his eyes. And just as soon as the singing started, it stopped.

Nico opened his eyes and looked around. No one was there. He glanced at the door and noticed it was left slightly ajar. Nico say up and rubbed his eyes.

'That wasn't open when I fell asleep...' He shrugged and walked out the room to see Samuel being shoved into The Quiet Room by a couple of security. Behind them was an unconscious older male with a deep gash on his forehead.

As Samuel was shoved into the quiet room, he made eye contact with Nico. His eyes looked sad and apologetic. For a brief second it seemed like Samuel was apologising to him. Nico allowed his expression change to sudden fright and sadness for his friend, which somewhat shocked Samuel. Then, his friend was shoved into the room with the door locking behind him.
