Noelle POV

I flip the page of The Night Before Christmas book while enthusiastically reading it for Charlie. He's in his Christmas pajamas and holding a small stuffed Rudolph. He grins a bit before his eyes slowly start to flutter close. I continue the book, even with Scott getting up and motioning me to hurry. "The End. Goodnight my little sunshine" I whisper then kiss his forehead. His eyes open a crack and he smiles up at me.

    "Momma what did that mean?" He asks. "Which part honey?" He grabs the book, turning it to a specific page and uses his little finger to point towards the words. "a Rose Suchak ladder?" He questions. I let out a chuckle as does Scott, "I said arose such a clatter, which means a big noise. Like if you trip over your toys in the middle of the night, it's very loud and startling right?"

    Charlie thinks about it for a second then nods in acceptance "but how do reindeer fly?" Scott sighs and sits back down beside me. I gently slap his arm and he mouths 'sorry'. I turn back towards Charlie, who is completely sitting up now. "Well magic of course!" I reply with wide eyes and a bright smile. His little eyes shine back at me before he asks "is that how he gets down the chimney? Because Neil says Santa is just a feeling.." His little face falls into a pout and my chest burns with anger again.

     I swear to god I'm going to run that brain dead man over. Then maybe Laura too for allowing it. I gently caress his cheek "oh my love. Of course Santa is real! Just like the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, and all other magical creatures!" Charlie just smiles before throwing his arms around my neck. "I love you momma, don't forget to leave out the cookies and carrots please!" I kiss his cheek, as does Scott and then I tuck him in.

   I turn his nightlight on and gently close his door. Scott has his arm around my waist and places a gentle kiss on my forehead. "I'm sorry" he mumbles. I raise a brow, motioning him to continue and he grins at me. "I'm sorry for being late and for not helping the situation with Laura earlier. But she just makes me so upset! The way she allows Neil to parent our boy is just.. annoying. She acts like they're his real parents and we're just the friends that watch him!" I nod in agreement and grab his hand, leading him downstairs. "I know but I talked with a good friend of mine and she said we may have a case. Due to Neil actually. Did you know she was cheating on us with him? Or that he was already moved in only after 1 month of dating?"

   Scott's face darkens slightly and I can practically feel the anger coming from him. "Well, that's good news for us then huh?" I shake my head yes and start placing the cookies out. Scott takes a bite out of a few of the cookies while I place the carrots out, taking a few bites of those. He places a half drank glass of chocolate milk beside the plate and then helps me get all of the presents out of the closet.

   Finally we make our way upstairs around 10:00 pm. Scott and I quickly shower then change into our pajamas. He's in his regular white t-shirt and boxers while I'm in a warm red and white Christmas pajama set with my slippers beside the bed. I hate touching the cold floor at night with my bare feet. Scott gives me a soft kiss before whispering 'goodnight' and 'I love you'. I give him a light kiss, mumbling 'I love you too'. Then I snuggle into his arms and quickly fall asleep.

   A loud noise wakes me up and I blink my eyes a few times, trying to register if it was a dream or not. My eyes catch the alarm clock on my bedside table and it reads 12:01 am. What in the world? Then I hear more sounds coming from the roof, almost like hooves. Charlie comes running in, fully dressed and with a huge smile. "You heard it too? It's Santa, isn't it momma?" He asks. My heart races as my mind wanders to what it could be.

    "Scott! Scott honey, wake up!" I start shaking him awake and he jumps up. "What? What? Is everything okay?!" He asks in a slight panic. The noises start again from the roof and he locks eyes with me. "Stay here, I'll be right back" he mumbles before throwing on his jacket and boots. "Scott honey, you need pants" I shout as he runs downstairs. I sigh and grab my robe and slippers, then pick Charlie up. He curls into me and I wrap my brown fuzzy robe around the two of us. I pause a second before grabbing my taser and then heading downstairs.

  I make my way down the wooden stairs carefully before hearing Scott shout and a loud thud. I sprint to the front door that's left wide open and stop, relaxing when I see Scott okay. Lying in front of him is a man in a Santa suit, face up. Santa is covered in snow and unmoving, so I turn slightly getting him out of Charlie's view. My jaw drops as Charlie screams "dad, you killed Santa!" Scott rolls his eyes "I did not! He's not the real Santa." I give Scott a 'what the hell' look and he smiles sheepishly. "Well he's not now" Charlie mumbles with a pout.

   "He's got some l.D. on him, I bet" Scott mumbles before checking his pockets. "Fella, if you can hear me, I'm just lookin' for your identification. And once I figure out who ya are, I'll-I'll give you a lift back to the mall." Scott rambles until he pulls out a small white card. I walk down the steps, letting Charlie down since he's squirming in my arms and glance at the business card.

     "lf something should happen to me, put on my suit. The reindeer will know what to do.." Scott reads. He shakes his head with a scoff "yeah, right!" Then before I can even blink, Santa's body is gone. My jaw drops and I look at Scott "did we drink before bed?" He chuckles and shakes his head "we must have!" Charlie just looks at his clothes and then back to Scott "well dad, are you going to put on the suit like the card said?" He shakes his head no and Charlie throws his hands in the air. "Oh come on! You never do anything I want to do" he pouts before running over to me.

    Scott shakes his head and mumbles "mommas boy." I lift a brow at him "as if you aren't either?" He just smiles sheepishly. "Would you please be quiet for a minute so I can figure this out?" He questions jokingly with a smirk and I nod. He starts pacing back and forth while mumbling. "Reindeer up on the roof. Santa suit layin' on the ground. Guy fell. Not my fault. Reindeer on the roof. That is hard to explain."

   I turn around to go back into the house when I run into a ladder. "What the? Where did this come from?" I ask. Scott shakes his head as Charlie climbs up the ladder a bit. "Hey look! It's the Rose Suchak Ladder company!" He smiles proudly and points at the metal engraving. (This is pictured at the beginning of the chapter) Well I'll be damned. This has to be a dream right? I pinch my arm slightly but feel the pain. Nope this is real. "You know like the books says, the Rose Suchak Ladder" Charlie replies.

   He then continues to climb the ladder. I jump up and quickly follow him, making sure he doesn't fall. "Hey! Charlie slow down, it's very slippery up there!" I shout as he ignores me. "Fine, end up like Santa you little booger" I mumble. Scott hearing me lets out a chuckle and follows me to the roof. I carefully step onto the snow packed roof and my eyes widen at the sight. A massive green sleigh with gold trimming on it sits perfectly with 8 large reindeer attached. They each have bells along their reigns and lights decorate their antlers. And there, in the middle of it all is Charlie, sitting in the sleigh with an enormous smile and twinkling eyes.

"I knew it. I knew he was real!"

Authors note: so what do you all think? I changed a bit but not too much. I'm really excited for the next couple of chapters since they'll be in Santa's workshop soon!
