Week 1
TW: Death, blood
I have very poor knowledge about Woodland mansions, so the details might be a bit blurry
Mumbo's POV:
Me and Iskall stood in front of a Woodland mansion, arguing if we should explore it or not. I wasn't really scared about going in, but I don't like to take the risk of dying in it. This was hardcore, after all. But Iskall didn't think the same way.
"If we die it's over," I pointed out to Iskall.
"If we die, yeah. But we have full netherite gear with the best enchantments, we're not gonna die," Iskall said in a matter-of-fact tone. "Let's just go inside."
"Fine," I sighed in defeat. "At least we'll get some good items."
Iskall made a winning gesture and then made their way towards a window. They shattered it with their shovel and climbed through the window. I quickly followed them and found myself in a big library.
"Come on," Iskall said, already at the other side of the room. I hurried to them, and when I reached them I got a genius idea. I clinged to their right arm, pretending to be scared.
"You scared?" Iskall said with a voice full if amusement. "Don't worry, I'll protect you."
I didn't reply, just clinged tighter.
Iskall's POV:
It was quite obvious that Mumbo actually wasn't scared. I know how he acts when he's scared, but I liked having him clinging to my arm anyway. As long as he doesn't cling too tight and hurt my arm, that is.
We had some really good luck with the mansion, getting all kinds of cool resources. We also had luck with mobs, only finding skeletons and zombies.
"I told you we wouldn't die," I told Mumbo when we were on our way out.
"Yeah," Mumbo muttered, still clinging to my arm. "But if we would happen to die, it's on you."
Just as he said those words, a group of Vindicators appeared out of nowhere. Of course, this caught me and Mumbo off-guard and they managed to get a few good hits on us.
"If we die now," I said jokingly while fighting the Vindicators off. "you should know that I love you."
Mumbo already knew this. We were dating, and we had said these words to each other countless times. I just liked saying so I could assure him that it hasn't changed.
"Well, I-" Mumbo began, but I didn't hear the full sentence. A Vindicator had managed to sneak up behind me, and I hadn't realized how low health I actually was on before it was too late.
Mumbo's POV:
I didn't finish the sentence. Instead I watched as Iskall's body fell to the floor, blood flowing out from a big wound on their side. It took some time before I understood what had happened, but when it sunk in I couldn't stop the tears from coming.
They were my perfect partner. We loved each other, we were happy, we were supposed to live a whole life together. Those happy eyes of Iskall were now emotionless, and their body laid limp on the floor. Mumbo remembered all the happy moments they had together, how lively and wild Iskall was. It wasn't supposed to end like this.
Mumbo sat there for who knew how long, going through all their memories. Missing Iskall. Mourning. He was exhausted, sad and heartbroken. Wondering how someone could go on in life. He then got himself together only to utter the words for probably the last time.
"I love you too, Iskall."
