valentines special (crossmare)
Cross walked through the neighborhood, glancing at the happy couples that were with their beloved. Cross felt envy, he only gained more with each time he glances at a couple a proposal he just so happens to witness. He only thought of nightmare when he saw these things. Wasn't it just his luck he witnessed the cheating of his own boyfriend on valentines day of all. Cross hugged himself, letting tears fall down his cheeks. His mind kept clipping to that horrible scene of killer and nightmare. Passionately making out and proceeding to take the others clothing off. How could he?. Cross could hear the faint sound of someone calling his name. Cross wiped away his tears and turn to look at the person. It was nightmare. He was holding out a bouquet of flowers to cross with a giant grin plastered on his face but a flash of guilt in his eyes. Cross looked at him in disgust, his expression faltering. "H-hey cross, it took me awhile to find ya!" he had a nervous smile on his face, inching the flowers toward cross.
"Nightmare...we...we need to talk" cross said as he pushed the flowers back to him. Cross could see the sweat bead on his forehead. "How long have we been together? Two, three years? Yeah. I've noticed something, every February. You'd disappear for half the day, not on any specific day, any day. And now I know why. Do you really love me? Or do you care about killer more?" nightmare's face drained from any happiness that he held, his sockets empty like a void.
"L-listen cross, I can explain-"
"Then tell me why you've been dating killer!? Is there something wrong with me!? Do I have some sort of disease!? Or do you just not like spending time with me on valentines day that you have to make out with killer to feel better!?" tears were falling desperately down cross's cheeks.
"I-I..." nightmare was having trouble gathering his words. What could he do, he was called out. But, its not the reason cross thinks it is. But before he could gather the words to tell him the truth, cross had ran away. Nightmare reached for cross, only missing cross's scarf as cross disappeared down an alley way. Nightmare knew the things he had done but he felt guilty for every second of it. It was his heat that told him to do it but all nightmare was able to do was stop himself from forcing himself on cross. But, he thought he was doing the better thing.
Cross sat on a bench in an old empty park, his head in his hands and crying his sockets out. Every now and then, a couple would walk by and glance at cross, and feel bad for whatever had happened to him. All he did was cry and wonder why nightmare would do this. Finally, at the edge of night, cross stopped crying. He rubbed his eyes roughly, standing from the bench he sat from. He looked up into the sky realizing the time it had gotten to. He rushed down the street but stopped when he remembered that he'd see nightmare when he got there. So, he slowed down. When he finally made it nightmare's castle, it was near midnight. He let out a sigh and walked into the dark home only to be greeted with a hug. It was someone who looked completely different, someone he's never. He looked like dream but in a midnight purple. He was only about an inch taller than cross. Only a little shorter than nightmare. I hesitantly wrap my arms around the waist if the skeleton, their grasp tightening on my body. I stared in awh at the small, glittery cape that hung from his shoulders, lightly playing with it. "Cross..." cross was startled, mostly from this stranger knowing his name.
"Y-yes...?" cross responded.
"You...still hate nightmare?"cross huffed and looked away.
"Of course I AM!-" something wet went across cross's neck, causing a shiver to go down his spine.
"Can I change your mind?" cross pushed the guy off quickly, hugging himself afterwards.
"No! First of all, who are you? I've never seen you!" the guy chuckled nervously but cross was distracted by the way his eyes glimmered a dark purple. They made cross remember when he fell in love with nightmare.
"I-...i'm a very close friend of his" that was clearly a lie.
"Nightmare rarely has friends he gets along with and if he had a 'very close friend' I would've known by now" his barricade was loosening, soon enough he'll confess who he is. Was he another recruit nightmare hired? That's a possibility. But he doesn't look very fit for battle except that he might be able to make all the enemy's fall in love with him. He was fit for the title of adorable.
"Listen, I won't tell you who I am but I do want to tell you the full story" cross cocked an eyebrow at him.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, about the incident with nightmare and killer" cross hissed, he didn't want to hear anymore of this.
"I'm not gonna listen then. You can go ahead tell nightmare that we're done, or from our fight earlier its probably obvious-"
"LISTEN! Nightmare may have made a bad choice but he didn't want to force himself on you, ok?" cross cocked an eyebrow at him again.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean he didn't-...wait, do you know what heat even is?" cross shook his head. "O-oh..." cross was confused beyond belief. What is a heat?. The guy seemed to be blushing profusely, looking away as the purple covering his face darkened. Cross never knew why killer and nightmare were taking off their clothes, he just knew that he was kissing killer. Cross knew about murder, violence and even pedophiles but he was never told what sex was. Basically, the only thing left out of his vocabulary. The man leaned forward and hugged cross tightly, bringing him as close as physically possible. "Damn, your so innocent..."
"I wouldn't call myself innocent but could you at least tell me?" cross's voice was muffled in the man's jacket, trying to speak but sounding like he had a mouth full.
"Follow...me..." cross followed and they ended up in nightmare's study, where this guy would explain this to him...

By the end of the conversation, both skeletons were a bushing mess. Cross could barely speak. His hood was pulled over his face as he silently screamed into the fluff. Cross wasn't exactly mad at nightmare just very, very, glad. He thought he would be to embarrassed if nightmare tried to do that to him. And the fact that it might hurt scared him. He was only frustrated that it didn't get explained to him sooner. He might have forgiven him sooner if he at least knew the truth. "Th-thanks, I think I owe an apology to nightmare..." cross shuttered. He was just afraid that he'd get yelled at or worse. Cross got up from the seat he was sitting in and began to walk out the door when the guy had stopped him. His hand wrapped around his wrist, pulling cross toward the stranger. The stranger was blushing dark hue of blue.
"I-I need to talk to to you some more. So could you stay a little longer?"

Damnit! I want to tell him the truth so badly. And what was that?! I need to talk to you more? Well, sh*t, i've come up with better excuses when lying to my brother!. He looked at me a bit confused. Yeah, this would take some explaining, but something tells me that it'll be worth it. "You don't need to talk to him..." cross furrows his eyebrows(?). I started to shift into my other form, goop dripping to the floor. "When he already knows so much." cross looked bewildered. His eyes wondered around my body, quickly trying to make sense of the situation. He looked afraid. I tried to get closer to him but he backed away.
"Y-you...I thought...but..." soon his face exploded with blush. "O-oh god..." he looked away, embarrassed of our previous conversation. I pulled him close to me, wrapping my arms tightly around him. I nuzzle his head gently. I have my little crossy again.
(Happy very late valentines!)
