Legend of the Wendigo:

According to Native Algonquien legend, a long time ago, a human hunter was trapped  in the middle of a harsh and cold winter with no means of finding food to survive. This drove him to cannibalism as his only means. This act of greed and the taste of human flesh drove him to become a crazed  man eating monster who roams the forest in search of more people to eat and to quench his unquenchable hunger.

Personality:
At first glance, because of his near permanent poker face and his height, Darius can appear quite intimidating, although that actually depends who he is around. He's also usually very serious and stern, especially to those he wants to protect. Some even might think he might not have any funny bone in his body, which is a lot considering he literally is just skin and a lot of bones.  As one of the, if not the, oldest of the cryptids, he takes it upon himself to take care of the other cryptids. Truth is, despite all the legends and all the horrible things he has done in the past, this stoic man is quite gentle, especially with young children, even if he can't show it well (Due to his intimidating face). 

Abilities/Skills:

1)Owl: His eyesight can allow him to see up to 8.5x as far as what a human with 20-20 vision can, especially in the dark. This, combined with his full height, gives him quite a view of everything, even through trees.

2) Voice: Even in Beast mode, Darius is capable, as a Wendigo, to imitate various human voices and speak the full language perfectly. In ancient times, this was the way he would isolate lone forest travelers and lure them for a midnight snack.

3) Winter survivalist: To put it very simply, Darius does not feel the cold. In fact, he doesn't feel all that much in his beast form in general. His endurance is also quite high, being able to walk in the harshest of conditions for a long period of time without break or food.

Weaknesses: 
1) His hunger: No matter how much Darius eats, he is cursed to always be hungry. In fact, the more he eats, the hungrier he gets, and the more chances he reverts to his cannibalistic nature. 

2) Extreme heat and fire: Living a life in the forests of Canada, Darius is a creature of the cold. With this in mind, he can not stand extreme heat and just like a zombie, could easily catch on fire and burn.

Habits: 
Hoarding: Darius has a cave in the woods with a stash of quite literally everything. From Candy, to jewelry and everything in between. He has kept everything he has found off his victims (And things he bought with the money off his victims) Over the last centuries. 

Staring: Darius has a habit of staring directly at people a bit too long that may come off as eerie, creepy, or plain out scary. He doesn't do this on purpose though, it's just his way of examining people, or he drifts into thought while staring at the distance. He usually tries to do it from the cover of trees as to not frighten anyone with his appearance, problem is, his owl like eyes -At least in Wendigo form- glow faintly in the dark.

Trivia/Headcannons:

- It's been only a few decades, roughly around since 1920's, that Darius has not eaten a single human nor tasted any human flesh. 

- He has recently discovered that chewing gum gives him the sensation that he is constantly eating and it satisfies his hunger temporarily without making him feel hungrier. 

- He has a soft spot for wolves, no one knows why, but it dates back to when he was still a  human hunter. This soft spot is still valid today.  

- Scary, Intimidating, could kîll you in your sleep in the blink of an eye? Naturally. Fatherly nature with kids and the type to read bedtime stories? Surprisingly. Secretly a pretty good chef? Wait-what? Since when? 

Bonus for the Fables characters: 

- Markus is his puppy (Even if the wolf denies it). This means that yes, sometimes he can get quite exasperated with Markus, and sometimes they act like an old married couple (Halfway there). That being said, despite his more rational and cool nature,: *Holding up young Markus* "I've known Markus for only a few minutes but if anything happened to him I would kîll everyone in this forest, then myself"

- Crane is one of the few kids that never judged him or doesn't seem overly intimidated by Darius like most people are, something he finds really touching and endearing. He has practically adopted her and would do anything to protect her.

Lullaby_Dearest

- Tim: He is well aware that Tim might be kind of scared of him, most people are, but he still can't help but feel fond of him. Tim is possibly also one of the only ones allowed to see him cave. Not only that, but Darius carries candy with him at all times just for the little boy.
