Currently, Aerin has straight light blue hair with a lavender hue, usually left loose or all swept to the side with a strange bump sticking out. Her skin is pale, and her eyes are a midnight blue. Her teeth are pointy as with all demons, although the pointy part of her ears are well hidden under her hair.

She has two silver ear cuffs on her right ear, one on her left, and 2 studs on each ear. She's also seen wearing chains on her school skirt. Her tail, although mentioned to be the same color as her hair, has never been shown.

It is implied that Azazel has the ability to turn into a grayish light blue cat resembling Kuro with a silver cuff earring on her ear.

Aerin seems to not have the same otherworldly form of speech and tone her brothers Amaimon and Mephisto have, instead sounding like a typical human teenager. She's shown to be very carefree, blunt and straight to the point. Aerin, just like Rin, is very easily excitable and always ready for a competition or getting into some sort of mischief, although she is strong willed and determined when it comes to being serious. She's proud, and hates to be proven wrong. She's also a silver tongue, preferring to fight with words rather than starting a full-on fight. It is hinted by Lewin Light that Azazel was wise, rational and patient, unlike Aerin's current outward personality, and because of this, it is hard to pinpoint her true personality. Despite that, she does seem to genuinely care about Rin and the rest of the exwires, as well as the fate of humanity, and has an immense sense of loyalty to them. Iblis has also remarked that Azazel has become a 'sentimental fool' for her choice of host.

Pre- True Cross Academy:
Azazel was revealed to have come to Assyah with the Sol in order to teach humans how to fight against demons, having helped in the development of the True Cross Order before settling in Vatican as a member of the Grigori. They also developed a special fondness for a clan of exorcists who later became known as the Drayfius family. For years, they were favoured by the demon who would give them the power to summon their prized familiar, Drayfius, in times of need. Due to being one of the strongest demon kings, Azazel's hosts could not be maintained for very long, but unlike other demon kings who would merely change hosts, after joining the true cross, they decided tolet their body return to nature instead, much like the other members of the Grigori who let other people represent them in person. So for a long time, Azazel's previous form was crystalized to the point of immobilization, until the night of the Blue Moon.

Night of the Blue Moon:

On the night of the Blue Moon, for having sided with the humans, Satan punished Azazel, who was already crystalized, by burning down all of the Drayfius family along with many others. With her dying breath, Azura Drayfius, the heir of the family name, begged Azazel to take her body as a host in order to continue the family line, something that in their grief, Azazel did not refuse. After the Night of the Blue Moon, she left her duties in the Vatican to the American Branch under the official name of Aerin Drayfius. It is said that it was during this time that  she developed a taste for the punk style. 

True Cross Academy:

When she learned of Rin and Yukio Okumura being half-human sons of Satan, she was ushered back by Mephisto, hence moving to Japan and enrolling in the True Cross Academy and the Cram School. She remains in a competitive battle with Ryuji as the top of the class, despite the latter's surprise because she never seems to study. It's due to the fact that this isn't her first time in a Cram school, and she had taken the classes up until the rank of Honorary Knight herself once before, rather than the title being given due to her origin.

Despite her initial mission to keep an eye out for Rin in case he loses control, Aerin quickly forgets that and becomes rather fond of the group, even forgetting  she's a demon king at times , developing a protective sibling type friendship with Rin and a love-hate with Ryuji.

Despite being an exwire, Aerin is a rather capable exorcist. Though the extent of her powers are currently unknown, she's able to defeat any demon below her rank with the exception of Satan, Lucifer and Mephisto. Although, she refuses to use her powers and prefers to use exorcist methods.

Meister:
Aerin is a very capable Dragoon, able to shoot many targets with two guns simultaneously, and even form summoning circles with bullets. She's also needlessly a great tamer due to her own demonic abilities, able to summon many familiars at once.
Though at the beginning, due to her identity a secret, she only summons her main familiars, two ghostly lion-like cat sìdhe, who transform into a larger ghost lion when merged, Drayfius.

Wind manipulation:
As the Demon King of Air, Azazel can manipulate the air around, often able to create tornadoes or stop them, as well as creating wind barriers and manipulating the air around a person in a way that the sound coming from their mouths cannot be heard.

Gray-Blue Cat:
Just as how Mephisto can turn into a small dog, Aerin has the ability to turn into a cat with a snap of her fingers.

• Aerin's favourite animals are cats and foxes

• She's shown to have a huge affinity to chocolate, especially dark and white chocolate

• She has teasingly mentioned that guys with  piercing are very attractive in response to Shima and Rin talking about Ryuji

• Azazel and Mephisto seem to have had quite a close brotherly bond despite their constant insults as Aerin knows most of Mephisto's plans. It is also mentioned that they are almost the same real age. Both of them are also equally horrible at cooking. Unlike Mephisto though, Azazel can actually draw.

• Azazel has taken many different forms, and usually does not discriminate between gender, using the pronouns of her current host. Her previous form was that of an old man (Manga).

• Of all human emotions and experiences, Aerin admits that Human Devotion is one she still doesn't understand.

• Aerin seems to have an affectionate nickname for everyone she crosses. So far, Yukio is Freckles, Bon is Rooster Boy, Amaimon is Spikey and Shima is Princess Bubblegum.
