St. Freya Part 1

And here we are with a new chapter.

Just so you know, the story isn't just going to be about fighting.

It's also going to be about (M/N) integrating into a strange new society for the time he is there.

Enjoy!

-One month later-

It has been a month since (M/N) had landed in this strange world filled with Honkai and Valkyries that sought to eradicate the Honkai.

A month since he was enrolled into the school known as St. Freya High School.

His welcoming was mixed, for the most part. The girls were slightly apprehensive and some were downright bitches at the fact that there was another male (Yes, going to use that superiority 'because we are the only ones who can fight the Honkai' complex the girls probably have) was attending a school meant to fight the Honkai.

They couldn't understand why (M/N) was let in. Which was understandable because they didn't witness how easily he was able to take down an Emperor Class Honkai Beast. Nor see how he fought against the mechs, minor Honkai beasts and an out of control Bronya without breaking a sweat with his mysterious weapon.

No, to them, he was a random stranger that was brought in because he had a high Honkai resistance.

(At least...that's what they thought)

While the few guys that were there, accepted him with tears in their eyes at having another male in the school.

(M/N) was understandably confused.

Of course, in the span of one month he managed to gain popularity rather quick.

Why?

...Well.

-Flashback-

"Okay, class!" Himeko shouted out. "Today, we have a new student attending our school."

That got everyone attention as they began chattering excitedly to themselves.

"We got a new student?" "I hope she's badass!" "She must be something special to be let in this late!"

The girls were happy.

While the guys...

"Do you think she'll be nice to us?"

One asked.

It was well known how the ratio in St. Freya was. Very unbalanced in the gender population due to the fact that girls were born with strong Honkai Resistance.

A small percentage of males were also born with high Honkai Resistance, but they were few and sometimes rare.

Thus, leading to something of a shift in power dynamics.

Now, it was the males turn to understand what it was like to have to stand by the side while the women did everything. Unfortunately, this also led to some rather high superiority complex.

Which...in (M/N) eyes (when he heard that) really didn't make them any better.

In his opinion, it made them look like idiots.

'How can you claim that this is the way to equality when you are acting the very thing you swore to be above?'

He had asked that question to Himeko and Theresa, the Principal, when they had informed that his arrival might not be well received.

"..."

They had no answer.

It was becoming increasingly clear to him that the Olmak didn't choose that time to malfunction on accident.

Someone or something had decided he had a few more tasks to do before he could go home.

'Haven't I done enough?'

He had thought to himself.

"All right, class. Settle down!"

Himeko shouted.

Thus, bringing us back to the now.

"Now, I know you all are you curious as to who we have with us today." Himeko calmly stated. Though slightly worried about what might happen.

(M/N) had already proven to be another level with just a few fights. But that was enough to let her know that he was a cut above the rest.

And she was slightly fearful if the girls pushed him.

She had a feeling he won't be as 'kind' to them as he was with Kiana and the others.

"And I know it's a surprise that we got someone attending at this time. But trust me, we wouldn't have allowed this if we hadn't witnessed the student skills in combat."

Her words seemed to end exciting the classroom instead of calming them down.

Sighing, she decided to just get it over with.

"Let me introduce to you our new male student."

THAT got their attention.

"MALE!?"

Came the shout of the class.

Except for Kiana, Mei, and Bronya who already knew who the new student is.

"Great..." Kiana grumbled. "We really are going to have to deal with him."

Now, you might be wondering why Kiana is in a bad mood?

Because Mei made good on her promise and confiscated all of Kiana games.

Putting the girl in a bad mood.

"Bronya suggests Subject Idiotka just suck it up and deal with it."

Bronya deadpanned.

"Shut it!"

Mei just shook her head.

"QUIET!"

Himeko yelled.

Successfully shutting up the entire class.

"Yes, I know shocking!" She said. "But, again, we have seen his skills for ourselves and can assure you that he has shown an incredible display of combat prowess."

"But Miss Himeko!" One of the more arrogant students protested. "He's a male! He won't last 5 seconds against a Honkai beast like an Emperor!"

Some of the other girls agreed while the guys deflated.

Himeko gritted her teeth.

Not liking that no matter what she did, they still persisted in their delusions of grandeur.

"Funny." Himeko spoke up. "And yet, he managed to take down an Emperor Class Honkai Beast with ease."

THAT shut them up as everyone looked at her in shock.

"WHAT!?"

Outside the classroom, we can see (M/N) leaning against the wall. Arms crossed as he waited patiently.

'Are they going to hurry up and let me in?' He thought to himself, eyes closed. 'Or are they going to try to continue this pathetic, sad little display of acting like a bunch of wannabe dominant Alphas?'

Either way, it was both sad and pitiful.

'Such arrogance, these children have.' (M/N) was starting to regret accepting their request. Even if he only did it to figure out what was sleeping inside Kiana and Mei.

It put him on edge for some reason.

"Im-IMPOSSIBLE!?"

The arrogant girl from before shouted as we pan back to the classroom.

"There's no way that can be true!"

Another girl shouted.

"Yeah!" "That's right!" "It's a lie!"

More and more began shouting their own input.

"SHUT UP!!"

Himeko patience was gone as she released her flames a bit.

"LISTEN HERE, YOU LITTLE SHITS!!"

Himeko glared at the girls.

"Do NOT think you know better than I do!" Himeko continued. "I was there watching from the monitor! I saw his abilities! He is no joke; he took down the Honkai with an ease that puts even elite Valkyries to shame!"

"And if you still doubt me, why don't you ask them!?"

Here, she pointed to Kiana, Mei, and Bronya who all jolted at being put in the spotlight.

"Eh?!" Kiana was caught off guard, before she reluctantly nodded. "Yeah, it's true. He saved our lives."

"What!?"

Was the expected reaction.

"We have no reason to lie." Mei shook her head. "If it wasn't for him, things might have turned worse."

"But..."

"Bronya suggests classmate sits down and stop making herself look like a bigger fool." Bronya calmly said. "Major Himeko would not make this up. And we would not go along with it either. Subject (M/N) is a valuable asset to Schicksal to fighting the Honkai."

"..."

Defeated, the girls sat down.

While the guys were secretly happy that there was another male joining the class.

"All right!" Himeko shouted. "You can come in, now!"

'Finally.'

(M/N) thought to himself as he opened the door.

*Swish* *Thud*

The opened and hit the end as he walked in.

"Everyone!" Himeko announced. "Meet our new student, (M/N)!"

"Hello." (M/N) gave them a neutral stare. "As you just heard, my name is (M/N)."

"..."

"..."

"...And?"

Himeko tried to get him to open up a little more.

"That's it."

(M/N) simply said.

Causing Himeko to sigh.

'As expected.'

She thought to herself.

Remembering how it was when they brought him in.

-Flashback within a flashback!-

"Theresa." Himeko entered the room. "I brought him."

"Good." Theresa voice spoke as the owner was facing the window.

Spinning her seat around, she turned to face him.

(Theresa 'Teri Teri' Apokalypse)

"So." She stared at him. "You are the mystery swordsman that saved my niece and her friends. I, Theresa Apokalypse, thank you for that."

"And I welcome you to St. Freya."

"..."

"..."

(M/N) was quiet as he stared at her.

"...This midget is the Principal of the school?"

CRASH!

Went Theresa pride at that.

"Midget!?"

She shouted in embarrassment.

"Oh?" (M/N) raised an eyebrow. "I didn't realize that you were a child genius. The more you know."

"CH-CH-CHILD!?"

Theresa was seeing red as she reached for Oath of Judah.

"Well, you look like one."

(M/N) continued, unaware of how much he was pissing her off.

Sensing the danger, Himeko stopped quietly laughing as she said.

"All right, Mr. (M/N) that's enough." She tried to placate the situation. "She is the Principal of St. Freya, and she deserves the respect as the one managing the school."

"Eh." (M/N) shrugged. "Not my fault, she's shor-BAM!"

Went the sound of Theresa Divine Key smashing into the wall right next to his face.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Theresa had a scary smile on her face. "It seems my grip slipped and sent my weapon flying."

"..."

"..."

"..."

'Well.' Himeko sweatdropped. 'At least she went easy on him.'

Only for (M/N) to nearly give her a heart attack with his next words.

"Little kids shouldn't be playing with dangerous weapons."

!?

Crack!

(M/N) boredly removed Oath of Judah and threw it back to her.

Tmp!

Theresa quickly caught the cross as she and Himeko stared at him in disbelief.

'It didn't scare/faze him!?'

The two thought to themselves.

Not even Kiana was that crazy, she usually back down when Theresa nearly clobbers her with the cross.

But this guy, he didn't even show the slightest hint of fear!

'Is he built different or something!?'

Theresa mentally screamed.

He was now starting to remind her of Siegfried, but less annoying and more detached than that man ever was.

'Is it drink o'clock yet?'

Himeko could not take much more of this.

As for (M/N)?

'...'

No thoughts, head empty.

"Anyways..." Theresa decided to stop beating around the bush. "Welcome to ST. Freya, Mr-?"

She realized that she didn't know his last name. and judging by Himeko looks, neither did she.

"(M/N)."

Was all the male said.

"...Just (M/N)?"

Theresa just stared at him with a look of disbelief.

"Just (Monika) (M/N)."

???

Did they just hear some weird reference/meme just now?

"Well...nice to meet you, (M/N)."

Was all Theresa said as they started filling out paperwork for him to enroll.

-Ending flashback within a flashback-

'Kid is too stubborn and anti-social for his own good.'

Himeko thought to herself.

Which is why they made a simple arrangement to get him to open up.

"All right class!"

Himeko started the lesson.

"Due to our new student strange lack of knowledge. We're going to be going over the basics of Honkai and the organizations fighting it."

!?

"You're joking!"

One of the girls shouted.

"You're telling us this newbie knows nothing!?"

Now a majority of the class started laughing at the newbie ignorance.

Kiana and the others frowned at that.

But before they could say anything.

"At least I'm more than capable of fighting them, even without knowledge about them."

(M/N) cold voice spoke up.

"Which is more than what I can say for you lot. You need to study before you can even get the chance to fight the Honkai, as you call them, and would probably lose to even their weakest members because you are so arrogant to believe your unstoppable."

"What a laugh!" He scoffed as he leaned his chair back. "You might talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?"

Thud!

"How dare you speak to us that way!" The girl shouted. "Do you have any idea on who you're dealing with!?"

"A bunch of clowns that should join the circus."

(M/N) calmly responded.

*WHISTLE!*

Steam was blowing out of their ears.

"You-!"

"Quiet down!"

Himeko shouted.

"Class is in session, and this is also to your guys benefit!" She growled. "The test results on a majority of this class were less than stellar. Seems that many of you have forgotten the most basics, and today is a perfect opportunity to teach the new student and the current student about what is common knowledge."

"URK!"

The girl face turned blue as did the other girls.

Revealing that they were part of the bad marks group for the last test they had.

"Now!" Himeko talked. "If there's no more interruptions, let's begin!"

-Flashback ends-

He had learned quite a lot in the one month he has been here.

Schicksal.

One of the major and most influential organizations that ever existed, who dedicated their lives to fighting against the Honkai threat.

Also, seems to have religious aspects to it.

Led by a man named Otto Apokalypse.

Who was also Theresa grandpa?

Whatever.

He's seen weirder.

Extremely powerful, Schicksal reach extended to about every corner of the globe. And was well known for its research into Honkai, and developing means to combat them. As well as researching Stigmata.

A source of power that gives Valkyrie the ability to resist Honkai energy.

Though, it varies. Some are natural, and some have to be given an artificial stigmata. And those were even more dangerous due to the risk of being killed if their body rejected it.

And there were several types of Stigmata that could be found. Each seemingly rarer than the last.

Then there was Schicksal rival.

Anti-Entropy.

Founded in 1955, the organization located in North America sought to defeat the Honkai through a different path. It is said they found 'something' that could combat the Honkai energy more efficiently than Valkyries.

And instead of Valkyries, they used mechs known as Titans to combat the Honkai threat.

An interesting note he found with AE is that they were once formerly the North American Branch of Schicksal.

But due to...conflicting interests they broke away from Schicksal and formed their own organization. And wound being labelled as a terrorist organization.

(M/N) could easily tell there was more to the story.

But he didn't want to get too involved in this world affairs.

Besides...something told him that AE would piss him off the same way as Schicksal probably would.

Speaking of branches.

There were quite some interesting ones.

For starters,

Family Branches:

Schariac Branch: Holding the role of "Priestess". The females of this family were well known for excellent abilities to control Honkai energy.

Kaslana Branch: Held the role of "Knights". Possessing incredible combat abilities and Honkai adaptability. The males here were some of the few that could actually fight against the Honkai.

And apparently, according to Mei. Kiana was a part of this branch.

'Seems like the Tuna is more important than I thought.'

(M/N) thought to himself.

And finally,

Apokalypse Family: Carried the role of Bishop. They are the ones who govern Schicksal. However, in this vein, they have no power or rite to fight the Honkai. Unlike the other branches.

Otto, obviously, was a part of this branch.

Theresa...was apparently in a sense not?

Even though, they shared the same last name. She did not carry the same ties to that branch.

Hmm...

Then there were their specialized branches.

The North American Branch that eventually broke away from them and became Anti-Entropy.

And probably, the most well-known one: the Far East Branch.

Why it's well-known?

Because that's where St. Freya is located.

By Theresa will, she created a sanctuary both to help victims of Honkai testing and to train future Valkyries.

And train the few males that are able to utilize their Honkai Resistance.

...Though for some reason can't seem to stick to a name.

'Knight.' (M/N) thought to himself. 'Berserker. Einherjar'.

(Took me a while before I realized that I should just googled Einherjar so I could get what everyone is talking about. Since HI3 Wiki seems to refer to the males as 'Knights')

'Knight and Einherjar seem to fit well.' (M/N) thought to himself. 'Berserker...not really. From what I remember, they fight in state of fury. Not really the case here.'

Honkai Resistance was considered rare, even for females. And males having a high enough level? They're the ones who have to fear the 'interests' of females more than potential death by the Honkai.

Males with high Honkai Resistance?

People were more interested in them creating a new generation of warriors with a Valkyrie that held high Honkai Resistance.

...One of the reasons why males have a somewhat hard time trying to fight.

"Besides." (M/N) muttered to himself. "Berserkers might be somewhat old fashioned."

Knights wasn't a bad term. But if he had to decide...perhaps Einherjar worked better as the counterpart of Valkyries.

"Hey, YOU!"

A female voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

Turning his head, he saw one of the Valkyrie in training from his class marching up to him with her posse.

"Yeah?"

(M/N) boredly said.

Pissing her off further at his flippant response.

"I don't like how you've been acting!" She growled. "Peasants like you, should know your place."

"Yeah!" One of the girls shouted,

"That's right!"

"You're playing with fire, messing with us."

The rest of the group agreed.

"..."

*Jump*

!?

(M/N) response was to jump and land on a tree branch, before he sat down and opened a book.

"Is that all?" (M/N) uncaringly said. "Because if it is, then why don't you go polish up your skills? I noticed some very obvious flaws that could easily get you killed."

His bored tone pissed the group off further than expected.

"YOU!!"

The girl growled.

"Come down here and say that to my face!"

Thwack!

"GAH!?"

She screamed as something heavy and hard hit her in the face.

"Such childishness." The Einherjar flipped a page. "If you can't even dodge a tree branch, than you have no right to attend a school meant to fight against world ending creatures."

Yeah...

He broke a tree branch and sent it flying to her face.

"Gnh! You!" The girl face was turning red.

Even more so as (M/N) continued ignoring them.

"THAT'S IT!!" The girl yelled. "I challenge you to a fight!"

???

(M/N) gave her a questioning stare.

"You have a death wish?" (M/N) asked. "You won't win."

"Arrogant bastard!"

The girl exploded.

"I'll teach you to respect your betters!!"

With that, she turned on her heel and left with her group.

"..."

Silence greeted him again.

"How can you be so calm?"

One of the males from his class asked.

Having seen the entire scene from where he was hiding.

"Why should I be afraid?"

(M/N) asked in a rhetorical tone.

"I've fought scarier things than her."

"She's one of the top students in the school!" The Einherjar in training shouted. "She might be a bitch, but she can back it up!"

*FWUP*

"Really?" (M/N) closed the book as he jumped down. "Then this should make things interesting if that's true."

"If that's-!?"

The poor boy was in shock.

The newbie devil may care attitude scared him.

He had no fear, ignored just about everyone unless they were Kiana, Mei, Bronya, and Himeko (they don't generally see him talking to Theresa). Or the other males in the school.

The girls try to force him to pick up their stuff? He either ignores them or walks over their stuff. Try to trip him? He majestically regains his balance very easily. Try to dump food on him? They somehow wound up being the ones who are hit with their own food.

Yeah...a good portion of the female students seem to be pissed off at his 'disrespectful' attitude towards them.

But did (M/N) care?

NO.

And they couldn't break into his room or steal his stuff.

He placed a powerful barrier that they couldn't get past.

So, the female students anger only seemed to grow until it finally reached its peak.

"You're going to get killed!"

The boy shouted.

"I doubt it."

(M/N) shrugged as he started walking off.

The poor boy's reaction.

'So, cool!'

Was what was running through the young boy mind as he watched (M/N) back until he faded into the distance.

Done.

Man! Took me a while to get this done. Needed to brush up a bit on the lore so I can incorporate it into this story.

So, (M/N) is now in class.

Has quite a few angry fans...which he doesn't care about.

And now is about to fight one of the school top Valkyrie in training.

How will this end up?

Well, obviously we know who's going to win.

Later.

Have a good day/night!
