Prompto
For my dear friend Whovian3135 who I wholeheartely blame for my new obsessions in life ;)
You let out a relieved breath as you sat back in your chair sitting under a large rimmed umbrella outside your favorite cafe. You stared at your camera sitting on the table in front of you, its black lens shining back at you as you sipped your much-needed break slushy. It was hard working for a news network, especially as a photographer. Right now you were asked to cover new cafe drinks. So why not get first-hand experience and taste a few.
Soon you were finished but you were still crazy thirsty. You glared at your camera before you left it there and got up, not exactly looking forward to boring photos and slush reviews. You blew out a breath and stood in line looking at the list of outrageous names. Soon enough it was your turn so you shrugged and nodded to the list.
"I'll take a Lushes Locks Lemon Lime, please."
With your new drink, you stepped outside, closing your eyes to the warm sun beating down on you. You let out a content sigh and told yourself you were working so you could take as long as you wanted. But you had to take a picture of it before you drank it all. You walked over to your table where you left your camera. Which you soon came to realize may not have been a good idea. Your heart sped up at you got closer to your table. The camera was facing the other way and the strap was waving in the gentle wind off the side of the table.
Tentatively you looked around, slowly sitting down. Gently you put your drink down and picked up the camera turning it on. A face popped up and your blood immediately started to boil. But as you continued to flip through the twenty-five or so pictures, the blond haired, blue eyed guy's smile made your own lips pull up in a grin. Shaking your head you flipped through them again, committing his image to memory. You found him to be very attractive and it helped him that he didn't take your camera.
Suddenly you found yourself like a cop on a stake out, sitting back and watching your surroundings for your mystery blond. You didn't think it would take so long to find him considering how spiked up his long blond hair was and that, from the pictures, he looked like a guy who couldn't stand still for more than a minute. You imagined his laugh would be light and contagious.
Suddenly you heard a laugh echoing behind you followed by gruff chuckling and boos of light frustration. Carefully you turned around and your heart fluttered at the sight of your camera mooch. You watched him and the other three men with him as they walked out of a nearby store. The blond was all but bouncing around, smiling and laughing, causing his friends to smile and shake their heads.
You were close enough to them to know they were planning on staying in the area for the night. You glanced at your camera then back at them as they started gathering things from their really nice car. An idea popped in your head and couldn't help but smile. Taking one last sip of your drink you stood and took your camera before heading over in their direction, not minding one bit that his hands would be full.
You bit the inside of your cheek to stay your smile as you approached them, holding the camera out to point at the blond. You honed in on any and every acting skill you had to
"YOU! Finally found you." You stood up to him and did your best not to stare at him and ignore your racing heart. "Do you mind telling me what made you think taking pictures on my camera would be a good idea?"
You watched as the blue eyed bond fought back a smile, his thin lips twitching. "Who? What? Me?"
You rolled your eyes but a corner of your lips lifted just slightly. "Yes, you. I see no one else around with as ridiculous hair as yours." You lifted the camera up to show him a picture of his face, his tongue sticking out and his eyes wild.
One of the guys behind him with glasses snorted. "Ridiculous hair indeed."
The blond rolled his eyes and turned back to glare at the guy before turning back to you, all smiles. "Yeah well, I don't even know how to use, uh what is that thing, a camera?"
At that, there were more snickers and it was your turn to roll your eyes as you stepped closer to him, reaching up to lift the camera around his own neck. "You don't say."
"I knew we should have just gotten him a leash." The tallest of the guys mumbled under his breath not so softly.
"Come on Prompto she got ya there." The black haired one chuckled.
You smirked as you let the camera fall back on his broad chest, looking up at 'Prompto's blue eyes. "Yeah Prompto, I believe I have."
He smirked as he placed the things in his arms on the ground next to him so he could fold his arms, your eyes not missing how well toned they looked. "I don't know. There could be a lot of guys with awesome hair like mine miss..."
You raised a brow. "(Y/n). Yes well, they would stick out like a sore thumb, such as yourself."
He let out a low whistle and chuckled. "Unlike you are your huge camera and table full of drinks."
Your draw dropped and you stood closer, pointing your chest at him. "I'll have you know I know how to blend it, it's kinda my job. As was drinking those drinks." You lifted your chin and blinked. "And two drinks isn't a 'table full'."
Prompto searched your face as he bit his lip to keep from laughing. You distracted yourself from staring at his surprisingly attractive thin lips by scowling at him, tightening your arms across your chest.
"You have a lot of nerve to take someone's camera, take pictures, and then deny it. Especially when it's clearly you."
He shrugged his shoulders and placed his hands on his hips indifferently. "At least I didn't take the camera."
You let out a breath. "Well, you practically did."
"Why not just delete the pictures and go on with your day?"
You opened your mouth but nothing came to mind. Why didn't you just delete them? You closed your mouth and bit the inside of your cheek, looking anywhere but at him.
Prompto let out a laugh that made your heart do a flip. "It's because I'm handsome isn't it?" He sighed, running a hand up his hair. "You just can't help to keep such awesome pictures of perfection."
You let out a little laugh. "A perfect pain in the butt."
He smirked and gave you a side glance. "I don't hear you denying it." And then he winked. Winked!
You huffed and rolled your eyes, not helping a small smile pulling at your lips. "Yeah, well, I didn't acknowledge it either. You are still a sore thumb. A narcissist who likes to take pictures on stranger's cameras."
Prompto made a face but then blinked it away. Suddenly the two of you looked around for his friends, not remembering them leaving. You blushed thinking how you sounded to them. Even the stuff by his feet were gone. The two of you locked eyes and you shrugged. Then he gave you a startling bright smile that caused you to blush.
"I have no idea what that means. But do you think you'd let a sore thumb taking you to get something to drink?"
You made a face too, clutching your stomach. "I don't think I could take another sip of liquid ever again."
Prompto laughed. "'Not a table full' huh? What about some noodles?"
Before you could answer your stomach beat you to it, growling like a lion. The both of you stared at your stomach before bursting out laughing. You looked up at him and your breath hitched. He was truly handsome. Especially when he was laughing.
"Sure. Looks like I have no choice."
Prompto nodded, formally holding his arm out for you to take. "Then will the hungry lady allow me to treat her to a nice refreshing bowl of mediocre noodles?"
You smiled up at him, your heart doing flips. "I'd be honored."
The two of you continued to lightly bicker, knowing neither of you truly meant it. The sun was setting and you soon found yourself sitting next to him on the edge of the pier, your feet dangling off the side, sometimes bumping into each other.
Prompto let out a sigh, leaning back on his hands as he stared over the water. "I guess I have some things to apologize for."
You moved some hair from your face and looked at him. "Hmm?"
He turned and looked at you, smiling slightly. He scooted closer but you didn't move. "Yeah. One for not asking permission to take such cool shots."
You snorted. "Ahh yes. I almost forgot." You pulled out your camera and started to flip through the photos.
Prompto reached over and took the camera from your hand and pointed it at you, snapping a few. You laughed and shook your head.
"Oh come on you look great in this lighting." He continued to take pictures of you, acting like you were some famous star.
You shook your head and reached for the camera but he held it up away from you, causing you to stumble forward your face almost hitting his chest. You looked up at him a slight blush on your cheeks. Prompto looked down at you, a small smile on his lips. His eyes traveled your face before he cleared his throat and winked.
"Come on. Just one more."
You rolled your eyes and moved back a bit but his other arm reached over and pulled you to him as he held the camera out, pointing it at the two of you. You took a deep breath, breathing in his scent, trying to commit this crazy but fun night to memory. You smiled and the camera clicked but he didn't let you go. Instead, he leaned in a little closer and whispered in your ear, making your arms and neck buzz with goose bumps.
"And I'm sorry for this."
You turned to him, brows furrowed. Your eyes searched his face as he smiled and the camera clicked again, but you didn't care.
"For what?" You whispered.
In answer, he slowly leaned forward and pressed a light kiss on your lips. Your eyes widened but you didn't pull away. You heard the camera clicking but it faded away as you closed your eyes and kissed him back, your hand reaching up to take hold of his shirt. But just as soon as it started he pulled away, smiling down at you.
"For that."
You chuckled and with quick movements, you reached out and grabbed the camera. "Well, these defiantly won't be going into my article of cafe drinks."
Prompto chuckled as he kept his arm around you, his chin resting on your shoulder as he looked at the pictures with you. "I guess you could say I'm a nice tall glass of water."
You snorted and swatted his chest. "You are terrible."
He smiled then kissed your cheek. "come on, it's getting late and I want you to met the guys."
You laughed as he helped you up and held your hand as the two of you sprinted off the pier, the sun setting behind you.
