Nathan Drake

You itched at the mercenary clothes that hung loosely on your slight frame. The bumping of the four-by-four you were riding in jostled your teeth as you thought. Your mom had been tracking down Avery's treasure since she was little so to have you here, on the cusp of discovery, was amazing. But what you didn't like was the fact these two annoying smart-as-heck brothers beat you to it so now you need to follow them.

You weren't sure which of the brothers to follow when they split up so you just snuck in with the mercenaries, sure that they would end up chasing after them eventually. It wasn't hard to take down one of their smaller guards and place their clothes over your own. You found a weapons cash and set yourself up in one of their vehicles. You weren't sure how long it will take for the Drake brother's to screw up but you had faith it would happen. Patience is a virtue and all that nonsense.

It took quite a while before anything exciting happened. You were bobbing your head in growing fatigue when you heard the shouts. You sat up in the back of the four-by-four you randomly selected, looking around frantically. Several dozen armed men clambered two by two into four-by-fours and onto motorcycles. One of them hopped in the driver seat of your vehicle and rev it on. Before you had fully comprehended what just happened you were hanging onto the roll cage will all your might, wind whipping at your loose clothes, bumps over the uneven ground made your teeth chatter.

It alarmed you the amount of artillery that thundered down the road. They chased after one of the Drake brothers escaping on a motorcycle. Which one, you weren't entirely sure. That is until you heard your driver's radio click on.

"Got one of them Drake brothers, boys! Keep your eyes out for the second one, he's the annoying one."

You smirked. So they were chasing Sam. Nathan was definitely the more annoying one especially when it came to getting the clues you needed. But you couldn't really complain. He was leading you in the right direction, you knew that much from his previous successes. But you just had to make sure you pulled ahead before you lost the chance to grab some of that gold so you had to get close to them and taking the next clue. And that meant making sure they didn't die.

Gunshots echoed through the air, drawing you back to the task at hand. The entourage was huge so you knew you needed to get to Sam fast, but without drawing attention to yourself. Leaning over the bar I yelled into your driver's ear with your best male voice.

"Stay back, we can be back up."

The driver nodded, keeping the humvee by a huge six-wheel truck with a crane. You watched as the convoy started to get picked off, one by one. Sam was shooting at them, but he was struggling. The convoy was coming up to a bridge and off to the side, you noticed another vehicle driving recklessly fast down below. Hopefully, it wasn't real back up. Your fists clenched the roll cage, your eyes narrowing as you tried to figure out how to help with only one gun.

But before you could come up with anything there was a sudden commotion. You watched with stunned awe as the vehicle you had noticed before drove onto a dock by the bridge. Your eyes widened as a figure jumped from the vehicle and grappled onto the crane of the six-wheeler you were following, the second occupant stopping it just as the bridge had run out. Now the handing figure started climbing up their rope. As you passed over the bridge, the figure ended up getting dragged on the ground.

You smirked. You knew that surprised scream almost as well as your own. That's what you get for being a selfish treasure hunting idiot, Nate.

Not wanting to give away your position, you watched, wincing as Nathan was dragged around and shot at. But it didn't take him long to get into the truck and start taking men down. Your topless humvee was getting closer to him and you didn't want to get shot up so you got ready to take over the driving but something drew your attention.

The truck Nathan was shooting from was starting to go up in flames. Your heart started to hammer and you couldn't exactly think clearly. But as you watched him down men on their motorcycles you knew he was going to need somewhere to go before his truck blew up.  Coincidentally your driver was getting excited and moved the humvee closer to Nathan. Perfect.

"Shoot him! Shoot him!" Your driver called back to you.

You reached for your gun and pointed it in Nathan's direction and fired.

~

Nathan jumped back as he heard a shot hit the crane by his head. Turning he noticed two mercenaries on a topless humvee driving relatively close. Close enough to jump on. Pointing his gun at no one, in particular, he shot behind him as he took a running jump at the nearing vehicle.

Landing in the passenger seat he reached over ready to relieve the driver of his duties when there was a shot and someone reached over and pushed the driver's dead body over the side of the humvee.

"Take the wheel, I'll shoot!"

With his initial shock fading, Nathan quickly sat in the driver's seat, pushing the car forward as his last ride, the truck, blew up behind them. Gunshots behind him and the cries of men falling off their blown up rides made a smile stretch over his face.

Keeping his eyes forward, Nathan called back to you, "So, (Y/n), how goes the hunt?"

You rolled your eyes as you kept up with the approaching mercenaries. "Great. I'm liking this tagging along business."

"You know,  you could always join us. We could use your help."

You shot down three motorcycles when your gun went out. You chucked it at the closest enemy, knocking him off his bike. You snickered. Quickly you vaulted over the roll cadge backing and sat down next to Nathan, searching around for another gun.

"Yeah well I would but it seems like what you need is a babysitter to keep you out of trouble."

Nathan chuckled. "Whatever makes you happy."

You smiled pulling out a large AK. "What would make me happy is if you just gave me what you had already and let me go ahead of you," you quickly took out another truck, "I just need a little bit of the treasure. You all can keep the rest."

The two of you bobbed and swayed with the humvee as Nathan took out some bikers and avoided road blocks. Nathan glanced at you.

"Why not just stick with us? We are going to end up finding it soon enough."

You laughed. "I happen to value my life a little more than a means of convenience."

"Yeah well," Nathan chuckled, "I would call it more 'exciting' than 'life threatening'."

You shook your head. "My point exactly."

Soon you both pulled up to a motorcycle leading the group. Nathan called out to him.

"Hey, brother."

"Nathan! Took ya long enough."

Sam aimed his gun behind him shot blindly as he tried to navigate the muddy roads. He did a double take when he saw you.

"Uh, you have a visitor."

Nathan shook his head as you hoped out of the passenger seat and took up shooting at the enemy from the back. "She's with us. It's (Y/n)."

Sam chuckled. "Hey there beautiful. Good of you to join us."

"That's still undecided," you called back.

"We need another pretty face around here."

You scoffed. "Flattery gets you nowhere."

Before he could answer there was an explosion right between the brother's and their respective vehicles. You held on for dear life as Nathan avoided the crater it created.

Both boys looked at each other and yelled over the shooting at the same time.

"Hop on."

Sam shook his head. "No, come on, I know where I'm going."

Nathan countered. "We can all fit in here."

Your eyes widened as a familiar sound started to get louder. Now that you guys were back in the streets you could tell where the sound was coming from. Tossing your gun aside, you spotted the armored truck before either one of them and you pointed.

"Nathan! Look out!"

"Huh?"

But it was too late. The armored truck hit the humvee, making it tumble down the street ending upside down. Lucky for you, though, you were tossed up and with a large amount of luck you didn't think you could ever have, you landed on the back of Sam's bike. You both called out for his brother.

"Nathan!"

"No, Nathan!"

Sam had slowed so you jumped off his bike. He called after you but you ignored him. Hurrying you ran to the humvee that was now clearly on fire. But there was so Nathan. Sounds of shouting came up from behind making you turn. There were two huge men coming your way, laughing about Nathan's chances of survival as they hopped off their bikes.

Without thinking you reached for the nearest object and lobbed it at one of them, knocking him out. But you didn't have anything else for the second guy. You held your breath as you saw his gun aimed right at you. You closed your eyes and winced as a shot rang out, but you didn't feel any pain. You opened your eyes and laughed seeing Nathan poking his head out of the wreckage.

You shook your head. "Hurry and get out of there."

LEaving him to wiggle out of his early grave you went to one of the discarded bikes and drove up to Nathan. You scooted back and motioned to the handles.

"You drive. I shoot."

"I like how we roll."

You laughed nervously. "Don't get used to it."

Sam pulled up just as Nathan sat down. "Come on guys, this way, it's coming back around."

Sure enough, the armored truck was barreling its way toward you all. Nathan glanced at you and raised his brows. "You good?"

You nodded. "Yup."

He smiled. "Hold on."

You let out a yelp of surprise and wrapped your arms around his middle as he gunned it, taking off right as the burning humvee exploded.  You could feel the heat on your back as the boys sped off, Nathan following Sam. The sound of the armored truck grew a little too close for your liking. Turning around your eyes widened at its approach. You turned back to Nathan and nearly yelled in his ears.

"I need a gun."

You felt him shift then a gun was pressed into your hands. "Here, don't lose it. I have extra ammo in my pant pockets. Have at it."

"Drive carefully, I don't want to fall off." You called back to him as you carefully maneuvered yourself to sitting back to back with him, your feet propped up on the back wheel spokes.

"Then shoot it!" He yelled.

"I am!" You shouted as you started shooting at it.

You weren't sure where the boys were going but you were sure this truck was going to run you guys over if you didn't take it down. So you unloaded clip after clip into its engine, windows, underbelly, and wheels as quickly as you could. It started to flame up and drive a bit more recklessly. You smiled.

Suddenly Nathan called out, right as you finished the last clip. "I hope you're hanging on!"

You turned back around just in time to see a large yellow shipping container blocking the path. With speed you didn't know you possessed, you rolled over Nathan until you were hugging his front. The bike tipped and skidded across the ground and under the container. Nathan righted the bike just as the armored truck hit the container and exploded.

You all three started laughing, nervously at first then for real. You leaned your head on Nathan's shoulder as you tried to catch your breath. You felt his hands rub your back gently, making you look up at him. He looked slightly worried but gave you a shy smile.

"You good?"

You nodded. "Yup."

Sam spoke up. "So you in beautiful?"

You let out an exasperated breath and chuckled, nodding. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm in."

Sam whooped and Nathan smiled wide. You untangled yourself from Nathan and moved to sit behind him, taking the opportunity to rest your head on his back as you let your heart calm down from all that just happened. Sam took off and Nathan followed as they went to go find Sully.

"I'm glad you're staying."

You squeezed his middle. "Don't make me regret it."

"Not for all the treasure in the world."
