Merlin
You couldn't help but giggle as you ran through the dark and vacant halls of the castle, late at night, and with your boyfriend in tow. As an aspiring herbalist and healer under the guidance of Gaius, you found yourself in the company of the young warlock almost at all times. Except when Arthur needed him for some stupid mundane task. So it was only a matter of time before the two of you would pair off, finding solace in each other and the secret you both shared. Having magic had its positives and its negatives.
Being girlfriend to Merlin after he asked you with magical wisps of gold on a secret date during a cool evening much like this one was definitely a positive. You giggled again as your smile widened at the thought of finally being alone with him again after a few days apart while he was busy being a servant to Arthur.
Merlin held your hand tightly in his as he pulled you back and into a small alleyway, the two of you pressed up against the walls, your faces just a breath away from each other. You gazed up into his eyes and smiled, your breaths coming out in small puffs.
"Well now Merlin, I didn't take you for the "sneaking into tight spaces with a girl" kind of guy."
Merlin smirked. "I have a few other secrets than magic up my sleeve."
You cocked your head to the side, smiling. "Tight spaces can definitely be romantic. How smart of you."
Merlin smiled wide, his eyes flickering to your lips for a moment. "As much as I'd like to say I planned this I can't take credit for the guards making their nightly rounds."
Sure enough as the two of you stood in silence, the sound of a pair of guards approaching echoed down the alleyway. You bit your lip to keep yourself from laughing at the thought of getting caught by them. The chances of knowing them were high and you kind of wanted to see the looks on their faces at seeing her and Merlin together like this.
That thought made you forget yourself for a moment and let out a squeak of laughter. Merlin's eyes got wide and he shushed you, placing a warm hand over your mouth.
"Wait. Shhh. Did you hear that?" One guard said.
The other sounded like he was turning, trying to hear want his partner heard. "Might be a mouse. Those things are everywhere."
"I guess it's time to hide the good cheese."
The both of you shook silently as a third pair of footsteps sounded down the hall. A voice soon followed.
"Everything alright gentleman?"
Merlin's eyes widened at hearing Arthur walking up to the guards. He could see him walk by and pause just a few meters away.
The sound of the guards standing to attention echoed. "Your Highness. Yes. We just thought we heard a mouse."
You couldn't help it. You snorted. That guard sounded so worried. Probably about his cheese getting taken. Merlin gave you a warning look but his eyes were smiling.
The guards sondedliked they were looking around again. "That. Did you hear that?"
Arthur coughed into his fist, clearing his through. "Yes sorry, that was me. Bit of a dry throat."
"Ah, yes sir."
"Now I don't think you can catch a mouse so I suggest you go on with your rounds."
The guards' uniforms rustled as they saluted and bowed. "Of course sir."
Soon they were gone. Merlin dropped his hand from your mouth and you snickered into your own hand. But apparently, Arthur was still there.
"Out, you two. I swear you're worse than children."
The two of you stepped out of your hiding spot hands still clasped together. Arthur turned to you both and rolled his eyes. You gave him a sweet smile. As much as he can be a pain to Merlin, Arthur was still a pretty kind man. Deep, deep, deep down.
"You hate children," Merlin stated.
Arthur nodded. "Exactly my point. This is the second time I've covered up for you both."
"The first time hardly counted," you rolled your eyes playfully, "It was Gwen, who I am sure is fully aware of our relationship by now. Not that she'd be bothered by it like some people."
Merlin snickered. Arthur's shoulders relaxed at the mention of Gwen so he didn't seem too angry when he replied. "If I have to pretend to be ill to cover your loud relationship your firstborn is named after me and you both have to do every little thing for me for at least a month."
You folded your arms, biting back a laugh. "But what if our first born is a girl."
Arthur shook his head, walking away back down the hallway. "It's a perfectly fine name for a girl." He stopped beside Merlin, patting him on the arm. "Since I couldn't find you earlier, go and fetch me my notebook in the library."
Merlin sighed. "Anything for you."
You giggled silently but Arthur wasn't' done. He was leaving but called over his shoulder.
"Oh and (Y/n), I would like a snack. Something hearty. I'll be in my room."
Arthur turned the corner leaving you alone with Merlin. You turned to each other and brokeinto smiled, laughing as quietly as you could.
Merlin took a step forward, placing a light kiss on your forehead. "See you at the Lordship's room." He rolled his eyes playfully before walking backwards, not taking his eyes from you until he walked into a doorway. You snorted into your hand, shaking your head at how lucky you were to have him as yours.

You picked up Arthur's dishes as he leaned back, turning to Merlin.
"I can't believe you convinced me to have lunch with you both and you haven't made me want to vomit in my mouth."
You cocked your hip to the side and made loving eyes to Merlin, batting your lashes. "Oh Merly, I sure do hope you liked your lunch. I made it with eeeeextra loooooooove."
Merlin snorted and Arthur groaned.
"Would you like some seconds," you continued, "maybe something a little extra."
Merlin smirked, quickly forgetting he wasn't the only one in the room. "I wouldn't mind an extra little kiss."
Suddenly the door to the room swung open, forcing you to hide behind it. You bit your lip to keep from laughing as you heard the voice of who barged in.
"Are you handing out kisses, Merlin?" Gwaine said as he made his way in the room, snagging a piece of bread off Merlin's plate. He gestured to Arthur. "To you?"
Arthur closed his eyes slowly, his chest deflating in spent patience. "Gwane, you and I both know the only one receiving kisses from this boy is his pillow."
Gwaine roared in laughter, his voice easily masking your own laughter as you clutched your sides. If only you could see their faces.
Merlin cleared his throat. "What do you need Gwaine."
The knight let out a happy sigh, wiping fake tears off his cheeks. "I believe you have cured my poor spirits. Let me know how that practice goes. " He winked, then left.
The door shut revealing you and you couldn't stop laughing. You watched as Merlin turned his head, glowering at Arthur but the young King just riased his brows. Then he flicked his eyes between the two of you, his face stern.
"Firstborn. Servants for a month. At least."
You walked up to Merlin and leaned over the table, kissing his forehead, laughing lightly.
"Thank the King." You pulled back and went back to clearing the dishes. "It was your idea to keep us a secret."
"I'm ready to change my mind," Merlin grumbled as he went back to his food.
You smiled as you pretended to think, tapping your chin. "Arthur Rose. That sounds like a pretty good name for a girl."
Arthur smiled, shaking his head. "You both are impossible."
Hope you liked it!
