Bandit-McCoy-You have been so kind and patient! I hope you enjoy!
You groaned as you held your hand tightly on the bleeding wound on your side. Pain blinded you as you reached out with your free hand to course correct your damaged escape pod. Sweat raced down your face making you wipe it away and shiver. Another wave of pain made you gasp as the ship rocked.
You checked your sensors, your front window screen cracked and damaged, leaving you all but flying blind. The ship shook again and you winced. Pushing up to the console with your last bit of energy, you checked where you were. You groaned, leaning back and breathing hard as you checked your dripping wound.
"A bloody astroid field."
You growled as you assessed your wound. You weren't sure if it was a good idea to take the metal shards out of your side, but you couldn't do anything about that now. You then looked at your left leg where another shard of metal embedded itself in your calf. You closed your eyes as you breathed through your teeth, blinking back unconsciousness.
As one final effort to survive, you looked at your navigation. A blip of a ship of unknown origin showed up on the indicator but it was too far, nearly fourteen clicks west. But you were going to take what you could get. You locked onto their position and prayed your escape pod would stay together and your body wouldn't bleed out long enough for you to reach that ship.
You splayed yourself across the two seats in the back and wrapped your side with what was left of the pod's medical supplies then laid down. You next took some supplement pills and tried to sleep, doing your best to ignore the banging and rocking of the ship as you slowly passed through the asteroid field.

Entering the turbo lift, Bones nodded as Spock told him of Uhura's pregnancy tendencies, the Vulcan fully convinced his wife was going to turn into a Klingon with all the odd foods she was craving. Bones shook his head and smirked as the lift opened and the two science officers entered the Bridge.
"Spock, I'm not surprised, only a Klingon would marry you."
Spock paused, his eyes boring into the doctor. "My wife is not a Klingon."
Bones raised his brows and tried to hide a smile but was failing. "Well, you answered your own question."
"I never questioned my wife's species. I merely fear my son will grow up to crave that which she is eating." Spock turned to the screen, looking over it intently, mumbling under his breath. "A man can only withstand the smell of pickle juice and honey mustard for so long."
Bones chuckled, clapping the Vulcan on the back. "You are going to be a great dad."
Spock just continued to stare out the screen. "Something is not right."
Bones crossed his arms and snorted, also turning to the screen. "I agree. There are going to be two Spock's in three months."
Spock ignored him and walked closer to the screen. "Enhance."
The asteroid field that the enterprise was facing, hiding from a Klingon armada, was moving about, the rocks bumping off of something. Bones saw it too. Spock turned to the crew, looking around for the captain.
"Where is Captain Kirk?" Spock asked.
A woman piped up. "Restroom, sir."
Spock turned back to the screen Bones glancing between him and the screen. "What is it, Mr. Spock?"
"There is a small ship four clicks to the north. Search for life signs."
A man answered. "One life sign but it's weak."
"Mr. Spock?" Bones scowled.
Spock turned to Bones and nodded. "Follow me, doctor, you will be needed."
Rolling his eyes Bones nodded. He turned to the woman who mentioned Kirk being in the bathroom. "Tell the captain we will be taking care of this when he comes back." Bones followed Spock to the lift. "IF he ever gets back," Bones growled under his breath.
Spock called to be dropped off on the floor of the sick bay. "Doctor, please have the sickbay ready to receive. I will have them beamed directly to you."
Bones nodded. "You got it."
With that, Bones left the lift and entered the sickbay, ready to receive anyone in any condition. Nurses prepped and biobeds were cleared. Bones was putting on his medical uniform when he got a message from Spock.
"Doctor, she's female. (Y/n) (L/n). Wounds on the right abdomen, three inches under her tenth rib. Another wound on her left calf. Standby."
Bones hurried on his uniform and yelled to his staff. "Incoming!"
The sound of the transporter filled the room as nurses rushed around and Bones pulled out tools. A body materialized and Bones braced himself for the yelling of pain but it was surprisingly quiet.
"Do you have her, Doctor?"
"Yes, Spock, I have her."
Rushing to your bedside, Bones looked you over, your hand pressed to your side as your left leg laid limp. Your eyes were closed but your body shook with pain, despite your silence. Bones reached up to scan you but your bloodied hand snapped up, catching his arm and making him stop.
"Get. Away. From me," you panted through clenched teeth.
Bones blinked, looking down at your resolved, hard, gaze. "You are going to bleed out."
You scoffed, tossing his arm away as you tried to roll over a bit to pull yourself up. "I don't. Need your help." You sucked in a breath as you let down your left leg. "I didn't ask. For your help." You tried to bring your right leg about, nearly vomiting, but you stayed quiet.
Bones took you by your shoulders and as roughly as he dared he pushed you back on the biobed, taking your legs next. He ignored your protests, eventually getting his way. You laid there glaring.
"Darlin', you are going to bleed out. Don't move and let me see if you're worth saving."
You rolled your eyes, biting back the waves of pain that now came with every breath you took.
Bones called for a nurse to take care of the metal in your leg as he looked over you. He glanced at your face, your eyes still angry. The doctor chuckled.
"I take it you don't like doctors."
You finally looked away from him, your hand being gently pried from your side as Bones gave it a look. You took a deep breath and bit back a wince.
"No," you finally answered, feeling your leg get pricked then wrapped up, the pain slowly fading, "I've never met a doctor that hasn't made me feel worse than I already was."
Bones chuckled. "In that case, I suppose I should just leave you to die."
You scoffed, wincing at your pain. "You'll be doing the both of us a favor."
A nurse pipped up. "Sir, she will need to be stitched."
Bones nodded. "I know."
You gave him a wild look, your hand reaching out and taking his wrist. "Stitched. By hand?"
A nurse rolled over a tray of supplies. Bones smirked at you, glancing down at your hand on his.
"I won't be able to hold your hand darlin', as mine will be busy."
You too looked at your hands. His hand had moved to take yours, your heart hammering. You looked up at him, your hands squeezing his.
"Do it quickly. Your medical bay smells awful."
Bones chuckled as he gently placed your hand at your side then reached up to move some of your hair out of your face.
"I'm known for having the steadiest hands in Starfleet."
You snorted. "I wonder what earned you that name. I'd think "a bossy bother" would suit you better."
"Bones," he chuckled, "the name is Leonard McCoy, but they call me 'Bones'." the doctor grabbed for a few tools after the nurse numbed the area. Another nurse kept your vitals under control.
You let out a sigh. "I suppose that works too." You closed your eyes, finally breathing easy with the pain gone and got as comfortable as you could on the cold bed. "Get it over with."
"On it, Darlin'."
You afforded yourself a small smile at his endearment before you retreated back in your mind to distract yourself from the stitching. But Bones had another idea. All throughout the procedure, he spoke to you, effectively taking your mind off it.
The both of you asked personal questions, getting to know each other slowly. You got him to smile a few times, he called you Darlin' at least three times and you suddenly found yourself not feeling any animosity toward doctors anymore. Well, not this one at least.
After some time, Bones was finished. He leaned over you slightly, nodding to a nurse to grab something. You looked up at him and searched his face.
"What," you whispered, suddenly feeling very exhausted.
Bones smirked. "I'm going to give you something to help you sleep." You nearly sat up, your mouth already open, but he reached up, stroking a hair back and pushing you back down. "Shh, you need to sleep. Don't worry, it won't be forever. And I'll be right here in the doctor's quarters."
You laid back down, eyeing him. "I'm not tired." Then your stupid body turned against you; you yawned.
Bones laughed, taking a hypo from the nurse. "'Not tired' my ass." Gently, he turned our head to the side, pressing the hypo to your neck. He let his hand linger on your cheek before he pulled away, clearing his throat. "I will come back to check on you in a few hours."
Already, you could feel the effects of the hypo, your eyes growing heavy. You nodded, feeling your body relax as Bones placed a warm blanket over you. You closed your eyes and sighed. His hand trailed down your arm as he left, thinking you were asleep, but you weren't. Before he walked off, you took his hand, just as before.
Without opening your eyes, you whispered, "Thank you, Dr. McCoy." Then you were out.
Bones smiled slightly, tucking your hand under the blanket. He checked the time, groaning at how late it was. Sowing you up took longer than he thought, but he wasn't about to admit that talking to you distracted him.
You were strong. The hypo could only work so long but by the time he finished he had remembered you needed more. He was impressed by your story of escaping an attacking horde of Klingons on your cargo ship where you were stationed as leader of security. Your position didn't surprise him at all.
Suddenly, Bones yawned. Shaking his head, the good doctor moved to his bedroom connected to the sickbay but not before turning back to look at you. He wondered how long you would need to be here and need his help. Blinking and letting out a low breath, Bones turned to his room, getting ready to turn in for the night.
~
You blinked, the area around you dark and cold, the only light coming from the various medical screens and gadgets stowed for the night. A dull ache was all that bothered your two injured areas, making laying there a little uncomfortable. After not moving for a while, you decided it was time to get up. Taking a deep breath and giving yourself a little pep talk, you got yourself sitting up. With a bit more self-persuasion, you got yourself standing. With staggered steps, you made your way to the back bedroom where that gruff doctor was staying. You didn't like the dark and he did say he was here to help you.
You knocked on his door gently, not thinking he would hear you. A muffled grunt and a thump later the door opened, revealing a disheveled man and your heart lept.
Bones rubbed his face, his eyes still closed. "Yeah?"
You leaned against his door frame, holding your side. "Hey," you whispered.
Bones' eyes shot open and he stepped back. "(Y/n)?" He looked you up and down, worry in his voice. "Darlin', are you alright? Do you need something?"
You laughed softly, shaking your head. "I'm much better than before. Just...not sleeping well."
Nodding, Bones backed up. "You, uh, you wanna come in?"
"Thank you, good sir, if you don't mind. I'm not a fan of the dark in strange places."
Bones chuckled opening his arm to his room where you walked in. "Do you want something to eat or drink?"
You looked around his place, your hand still on your side. "No, I'm good." You saw his bed and sat down on the edge, letting out a breath. "Maybe in the morning. You have a nice place."
Bones nodded and looked around, walking up to you. "Not too bad." He looked to you, nudging your foot with his. "Hey there, are you sure you're alright?"
You yawned before answering him. "I'll live."
Chuckling Bones sat down next to you, keeping a reasonable distance. "I'd hope so, or else I'd have to resign."
You smiled. "How come I get the feeling you'd resign for far lesser a reason."
Bones nodded, catching our eyes. "You have no idea what I have to go through on this ship."
You smiled but it turned into a wince as you stretched your side. "If you're the only sane one then it isn't hard to imagine how crazy you all are."
Bones scooted closer, his hand touching your side gently before he leaned back on his hands a bit. "You'd fit right in. It would be a nice change to have another level headed person on this ship."
You snorted. "Thanks? I guess."
He looked to you and you held his gaze. After a few moments, you yawned, making Bones chuckle. Without thinking much, you scooted closer to him, resting your head on his chest right under his shoulder. Bones looked down at you, his breath shallow, afraid to beak the moment.
You closed your eyes against him and sighed, your leg and side not hurting as much as before. "Hey, Bones?"
"Hmm?"
You moved closer to him, making him sit up and wrap an arm around your shoulder. You smiled secretly.
"Thank you for stitching me up and putting up with my not-so-agreeable attitude."
Bones scoffed good-naturedly. "Sure thing darlin'." He leaned back on the bed, bringing you with him. Looking down at you, he stroked back some of your hair as he felt you relax against his chest. "You are very agreeable," he whispered.
Not fully asleep yet, you smirked, reaching a hand up to take his hand in yours. "I plan on sleeping in and having breakfast for lunch."
Smiling wide, Bones made the two of you more comfortable, taking care of your wounds and keeping you close. Feeling daring, he kissed the top of your head lightly.
"Darlin', you took the words right out of my mouth."
The two of you fell fast asleep, your fear of doctor's and medical things successfully diminished, partial to one in particular.
