Reader performs a song about her relationship with Veronica, while having flashbacks to show what each mean. Based off the song "The weight" by Shawn Mendez

[ instrumental beginning ]

On stage stands a beautiful brunette haired girl with complex braids. She's wearing regular combat boots, black knee ripped jeans tucked in the combat boots, a white loose v-neck t-shirt, with a flannel tied around her waist. She's strumming a vintage looking Gibson Montana Hummingbird.

"I wanna go back, forget that it's over"

[Y/n] sings out as she closes her eyes reliving a memory.

There sits two girls in a booth at pops laughing with no care in the world. The brunette girl sitting on the right stops abruptly and stares at the raven haired girl.

"What?" Asks the girl sitting on the left.

"Nothing, i just love you." Replies the brunette girl. The Raven haired girl kisses the brunette and whispers "i love you too" against her lips. They then continue there conversation as they communicate with ease.

"Painted in black when you left me alone"

[Y/n] sings as she looks out across the gym eyes briefly landing on her best friend  who gives a smile for support.

"I just can't do this anymore [Y/n]!" Exclaims the Raven haired girl

"Why!" The brunette, [Y/n], yells back "What did I do? How can I fix this?!" She yells

"I-i-" the Raven haired girl sighs trying to calm down "I just can't [Y/n], okay?" she says grabbing her purse trying to leave the house as fast as possible.

But the brunette caught her wrist in a soft hold so if she really wanted she could pull her hand away "Veronica, I love you. Don't you love me?" [Y/n] replies with a cracked voice

Veronica, the Raven haired girl, turns looking at [Y/n] "I'm sorry." She says pulling her arm away walking out of the house.

"I never knew, she was sleeping next door with the kid I grew up with
And I can't go back to her
Anymore, no"

[Y/n] sings out moving her head slightly to the right as she looks at the Raven haired beauty and her red haired date.

[Y/n's] leaning against her locker eyes squinting at the sight of her next door neighbor Archie Andrews and now ex-girlfriend Veronica Lodge flirting.

"[Y/n]." Followed by a loud bang caused by the persons hand slapping against the locker. [Y/n's] head snaps to the perpetrator. There stands a beautiful red headed girl, Cheryl Blossom, [Y/n's] best friend.

"What?" Snaps [Y/n]

"You have to stop." Cheryl says "Y-"

"Do you think they're dating?" [Y/n] interrupts her.

"Okay, that's it!" Cheryl exclaims throwing her hands up. "Come with me." She says grabbing [Y/n's] arm dragging her into an empty hallway closet while ignoring her protests. Once they're in the closet Cheryl turns to face [Y/n].  "Listen [Y/nn] I didn't wanna tell you because I knew it would hurt you, but Archie and Veronica have been sleeping with each other." Cheryl says

[Y/n's] eyebrows furrow it's been a little less then a month since they broke up. [Y/n] doesn't know how Veronica can move of on quickly. "How long." She asks

Cheryl shakes her head and says "[Y/n] I don't thi-"

"How.Long." She interrupts and asks more firmly

"About a week after you broke up." Cheryl whispers sadly. [Y/n] clenches her jaw and sighs through her nose.

"Okay." [Y/n] says

Cheryl looks at her confused "Okay?" She questions

"Okay, that's okay. She broke up with me and moved on. I have to too." [Y/n] gives a fake smile and Cheryl knows it but let's her have time to take everything in.

"Come on [Y/nn]." Cheryl says linking their arms together as they exit the closet.

The tempo in the song picks up and other instruments are added as [Y/n] sings
"You tell me you were happier with him, but you want me to stay"

Everyone can hear the emotion in [Y/n's] voice as she sings the song. Everyone also knows exactly who the song she's singing about.

[Y/n] and Veronica ended up alone together at [Y/n's] house. They're laughing about something. When [Y/n] stops she didn't notice how close they had gotten, so [Y/n] kisses her. Veronica kisses back.

"I can't [Y/n]." Veronica whispers as she  pulls away putting a hand on [Y/n's] chest.

"I probably sound like a bad person for saying this but why not? We were good together."    [Y/n]says

"Archie makes me happier." Veronica whispers

[Y/n] closes her eyes and shakes her head a little as she stands up to leave but feels a hand on her wrist. Veronica's looking at [Y/n] and notices tears in her eyes.

"I shouldn't have said that. Just don't go, stay here." Veronica says as she pulls [Y/n] unit a hug.

"And you tell me that you needed time, but you push me away"

[Y/n] wakes up snuggled to Veronica on the couch. [Y/n] thinks they must have fallen asleep last night. [Y/n] brushed some hair out of Veronica's face.

"You know it's creepy to stare." Veronica grumbles as she opens her eyes. [Y/n's] eyes widen in surprise as she splutters out an excuse, but Veronica just giggles at it.

Veronica and [Y/n] are eating at the breakfast table, as [Y/n]  blurts out. "I'm sorry for kissing you last night."

Veronica pauses before she can eat another bite of pancakes and sets her fork down. "No, I kissed you back" she waves her hand "I-uh just need some time, okay?" Veronica says grabbing [Y/n's] hand giving it a squeeze.

"Of course." [Y/n's] smiles at her squeezes Veronica's hand back.

Then over the next few days Veronica barely gives [Y/n] the time of day. Not even talking to her. [Y/n's] left heartbroken.

"But then you try to take me back, my heavy heart just breaks
No I can't lift the weight"

As [Y/n] sings she closes her eyes and puts more emotion in the words of the song making sure everyone knows how she feels.

"Hey, [Y/nn]!" Veronica says drunkenly walking to [Y/n].

"Woah!" [Y/n] catches Veronica before she can fall. "Your drunk come on, Cheryl has plenty of rooms she won't mind if you crash here." [Y/n] says as she helps Veronica upstairs into a room.

"Here we go." [Y/n] says helping Veronica sit down on the bed. [Y/n] turns but she feels Veronica pull her wrist and pulls her down so she falls on top of her. "What are you do-"     [Y/n's] interrupted by Veronica's lips. At first [Y/n] melts into it but remember Veronica's drunk and pulls away and backs up away from her.

"We can't do that Veronica your drunk." [Y/n] states. She has hope that Veronica might want her back but she won't do anything while she's drunk.

Veronica's sits up and lets a few tears fall.
[Y/n] notices and sits next to her "What's wrong?" [Y/n] asks with furrows brows

"I'm sorry. It's just Archie and I had a fight and..." Veronica's says and continues to rant while [Y/n] feels her heart break.

[Y/n] strums for a little before singing again
"Put you in the past, try to forgot you cause it's over
And every time you ask, I'll pretend I'm okay"

[Y/n] walks into her third period late. [Y/n's] tired and a little hungover so she doesn't really care to much when the teacher grumbles something about her being late. The only downside is the only seat left is next to...Veronica. [Y/n] internally groans but sits next to her anyways.

"Hey, [Y/n]." Veronica hesitantly says

[Y/n] gives Veronica a small smile "Hey." She replies

"How-a how are you doing?" She asks

[Y/n] flashes her another smile "I'm doing good. How are you?" [Y/n] asks back

"Good, Thanks." Veronica smiles back and goes back to her notebook writing.

[Y/n] wakes up when she hears her alarm. She flops back on the bed after she turns it off and just stares at her ceiling. She had a dream about Veronica and her being together again. [Y/n] sighs and covers her face with her elbow and groans. She knows she can't be with her anymore, but why doesn't her heart?

"You tell me you were happier with him, but you want me to stay

[Y/n] sings out. She looks directly at those dark brown orbs she cares about.

[Y/n] let's more of her emotion seep through her voice as she finishes her song hitting every note and making it very emotional.

When [Y/n's] done everyones clapping. [Y/n] smiles and walks off the stage.

"[Y/n]! Hold up!" [Y/n] hears Veronica's voice

[Y/n] sighs "Veronica I-" but Veronica's voice interrupts "No let me talk. I'm sorry, [Y/n]." Veronica says. Surprising [Y/n] "I treated you poorly" [Y/n] opens her mouth but again Veronica interrupts her "No I did" she says sincerely "I didn't notice I was hurting you, and I'm really really sorry for that" Veronica sighs and twiddles with her fingers "I'm just sorry." Veronica whispers

[Y/n] smiles "V, it's okay" Veronica gives [Y/n] a glare  "Okay it's not but I appreciate you apologizing. I wasn't trying to call you out, I just needed to get it off my chest. I do love you Veronica, I always will." [Y/n] says. When Veronica doesn't respond [Y/n] gives her a peck on the cheek and walks away.

"[Y/n]!" [Y/n] turns around "You'll always be in my heart too." Veronica says giving [Y/n] a smile.

[Y/n] walks away feeling very content to start a life where she is no longer in love with Veronica Lodge anymore.
