I skipped along the road to Tibby's Diner, humming under my breath. That's how I got my nickname, Skips.
"You're gonna fall someday." Spot had remarked one day, causing me to laugh.
"You're probably right. But until then, live life to it's most awkward and dangerous moments!" I had replied.
Spot Conlon was walking ahead of me, his step determined and somewhat casual. The boys were meeting at the diner for something I didn't think too much of. I found myself skipping ahead of Spot, which was fine. Or until I ended up turning back to see where he went and tripping over my feet.
Shit. I thought, getting ready to brace myself from falling. Why do I never learn to watch where I'm going?
But the ground never came. I felt myself being caught in a pair of strong arms, lifting me up once I was stable.
I turned around to see who had caught me, and I came face to face with Spot. I blushed at the contact and our proximity, causing Spot's smirk (and probably his ego too) to grow bigger.
"I told ya you were gonna fall." he said as I brushed myself off. "Gotta watch out, (Y/N). Can't have you falling for me."
I froze, a smirk of my own on my face. "What was that?"
Spot's smirk seemed to diminish a little. "Can't have you falling for me."
I stepped up to him. "Bold of you to assume that I like you."
Spot's smirk disappeared altogether and I skipped away, leaving Spot standing in the middle of the street.
~~~
In the diner, I sat with Kid Blink. Spot kept glancing at us every so often, sending a glare in Kid Blink's direction when he thought we weren't noticing. I mean, Blink probably didn't notice, but I definitely did.
Spot also clenched his fist when I got too close to Blink. Blink didn't seem to mind at all, which probably caused Spot to get even more mad. I frowned, Spot's expression matching mine. Time to take matters into my own hands if I wanted this to go anywhere.
"Hey, Blink." I said, tapping him on the shoulder.
Blink turned to me, a smile on his face. "Yeah?"
I leaned forward and kissed him, which he returned without hesitation. I tousled his hair, which didn't do much because his hair was like magical hair. It was so straight and didn't have to be un-tangled every morning.
When I pulled away from Blink, I glanced over at Spot in the corner of my eye. He was fuming, the most livid expression I had ever seen on his face. He'd probably not let me out of his sight from now on.
I waved Blink goodbye, and made my way out of the diner and back to Brooklyn. Not even a second later, I heard the diner door open, and footsteps running after me. A hand grasped my wrist, stoping me in my tracks.
"(Y/N)! Stop!" Spot's voice commanded.
I turned around, Spot never letting his grasp loosen. His face had a mix of frustration, heartbreak, and anger on it.
"What do you want?" I snapped. Holy moly, his grasp was making me cranky.
"You should know. You're the one who flirted with Blink." he replied with just as much venom in his voice. He seemed hurt, almost pleading with me to say that my flirting with Blink wasn't real, just a ploy to get Spot to like me more.
I laughed. "You're so clueless sometimes, ya know?"
Spot looked taken aback. "What?"
I gave him a good kiss this time, a good long one that should have been done sooner. Spot returned it with just as much vigor. I smiled as I ran my hands through his hair, making him shiver.
I pulled away reluctantly, Spot giving me his trademark smirk and taking me gently by the hand and walking us the rest of the way to Brooklyn. "I like it when you do that." he remarked.
I grinned, leaning my head on his shoulder. "I want to sit by the harbor and watch the sunset." I told him.
"Anything for the Queen."
Spot and I had been sitting on the docks for the rest of the afternoon, talking about how Spot had his eyes set on me the moment I set foot in Brooklyn.
Mind you, he thought I was competition, and wanted to get me out of Brooklyn as soon as possible, but he decided against that. He decided to watch me, and he gave himself a week to keep an eye on me, a week for him to decide whether he should kick me out or not. But in that week, he felt himself have feelings for me.
"And here we are today." he finished, taking off his hat and setting it down behind him before turning and lying down, putting his head on my lap. I ran my fingers through his hair again, feeling him shiver. His hair was really soft.
I leaned down and placed a kiss on his forehead. He smiled up at me, reaching an arm up to caress my cheek. "I can't have you falling for me." he repeated, trying to get his desired reaction.
I leaned into his touch. "What if I already have?"
"Then I'm always there to catch you."
idek about the last few lines, they make no sense.
But yey, an update!
