Pietro Maximoff ~ Assassin (Part 2)

I walked to Strauss's office the next morning, grumbling about having to wake up at the ungodly hour of 4 am just to get information on my mission.

I reached the office in no time, and rapped sharply on the door.

"Come, come, (Y/N). Time is of the essence." Strauss's voice called through the door.

I opened the door and Strauss sat at his desk, with papers and files strewn all over his desk in their usual messy manner. Strauss wasn't the neat type, but he certainly had a way to navigate through the mess of papers on his desk.

Strauss motioned for me to sit down, though I didn't take his invite and remained standing. He opened a drawer and pulled out a folder, handing it to me. I opened it and looked through the papers.

"Honestly, I don't get why Strucker needs to make such complicated mission reports and such. They're too confusing. I'm in a position of power and even I have trouble reading these." Strauss chuckled. I let a small smile slip onto my face.

"Do you need a condensed version of those papers?" he asked.

I shook my head slowly. "Basically, Hydra wants me to go to America, find the Avengers, and kill one of their own."

"Haha! Very good. Saves me a lot of work." Strauss stood up and walked to the door, opening it to reveal a suitcase with enough for a two week trip.

"A helicopter is waiting down at the landing pad. Your belongings for the trip, and be safe please. It's on me if you die."

I shrugged his grip off of me, and made my way down to the helicopter that was waiting for me.

On the trip to America, I read through the files again, this time taking in every word instead of skimming the file. There were two things: instructions for what I was to do and the mission itself. I found out that the Avenger I had to kill was Pietro Maximoff, otherwise known as Quicksilver. Apparently, he had recently escaped with his sister, Wanda, from Hydra's base back in Sokovia.

Hmmm.....Pietro....Maximoff.........Why does that sound familiar?

I shook out of my thoughts and continued reading. Pietro actually looked quite handsome. It was a shame that I had to kill him.

The helicopter landed, and I hightailed it out of there as fast as I was allowed. I followed the instructions that were included in the folder.

A week later...

I made my way to where I saw the Avengers facility on my daily walks the past week. The sun was shining, the birds were singing; it's a beautiful day to crack some heads, ain't it?

I stopped when I stood across the street from the Avengers Tower. The building was so nice, I felt qualms about breaking in. The glass shimmered in the afternoon sun, the whole tower reflecting the life around it.

I walked into the building, right past the guards.

"Hey! Come back! You're not allowed in!" one of them shouted at me.

I turned around with a thoughtful expression. "Am I?"

I snapped my fingers and the guards chasing after me instantly froze, their faces holding expressions of utter shock and aggravation. I chuckled, a smirk flitting onto my face.

"Looks like I am."

And I turned back around and continued my way through.

~~~
Eventually, I reached the living quarters of the Avengers--or what I assumed to be the living room or something, anyway. Another set of stairs led somewhere, but before I could make my move, a voice stopped me.
"Hey, you're not supposed to be here."
I whirled around, and saw none other than the Star Spangled Man With A Plan himself, Steve Rogers.
I shrugged. "I....got lost?" I tried, even though I knew it wouldn't work. I just wanted to use my powers again, since I wasn't able to use them back in Sokovia.
Steve's expression hardened and he flew at me, trying to land a punch. I stepped to the side before he could reach me, and he stumbled when he landed again. What I did't see what him pick up his shield from the wall I had moved from when he stumbled. He threw it at me, and it hit me in the side.
I cried out and doubled over in pain, clutching my side. I looked up at Steve through my pain, and saw him pick up his shield and advance towards me. I sighed, not knowing why I didn't freeze him when I had the chance. Guess I wanted to prove myself, I guess.
I continued up the stairs, and when I stepped onto the landing, I bumped into something. Or rather, someone. I rubbed my head and stepped back, looking at who I bumped into. I saw Tony Stark himself standing right in front of me.
"Uhhh....How did you get in here?" he asked me after a moment of awkward silence.
"I...needed to meet someone?" I tried. I wasn't lying, though.
Tony narrowed his eyes at me. "Jarvis, call security."
"Yes, sir." Jarvis's voice replied.
I sighed and snapped my fingers. I really needed to stop hesitating and just freeze people when I see them. I wouldn't run into any problems that way.
I walked past Tony Stark and ran into yet another problem. The world seemed out to get me, wasn't it?
This time, I had a sense of déjà vu. I felt as if I had seen and known these two people for most of my life. The boy had blonde-ish hair with dark roots, the bluest eyes, and was wearing a light jacket with arrows down the arms. The girl had dark brown hair, and was wearing a pretty red overcoat.
They too looked like they had the same feeling as I. They seemed to be struggling with their memories, trying to remember who I was or could be.
Finally, the boy spoke.
"(Y/N)? Is it really you?"
