••Din and Cobb get a moment alone where they can forget about the world and how it opposes them
"That barbed wire got you real good, Din..."
Din winced as he felt a slight tug on his skin. Cobb was sewing up a gash in his side that he'd gotten from trying (and failing) to jump over a barbed wire fence while running away from some hooligans. Their cruel words still stung him, perhaps even more so than the sting from the wound.
There was a blazing rumor going around that he and Cobb were together in a romantic way and unfortunately, the town they were currently in had nothing but blistering hatred for intimate relationships between same sex couples—especially men.
Thing is, they were only going off of assumptions. Din and Cobb had been very careful when it came to how they acted out in public. Hell, they weren't even in a real relationship and they still had to act like they were nothing more than two good buddies.
Din knew they were more than that. He couldn't deny his attraction to Cobb—not even if he tried. The idea that falling in love with someone could potentially get him killed one day was terrifying, but not as terrifying as the idea of forcing himself to live a lie for the rest of his life.
"You alright, hun? You're awful quiet."
Din blinked and softly exhaled, feeling the steady thump of his heart against his ribs as he looked down at Cobb.
"I was just... thinking." He murmured.
Cobb's eyes were narrowed with focus, though his expression remained calm and relaxed—like he'd done this a hundred times. "'Bout what?" He mumbled past the thread between his teeth.
Another wince of pain, though pain hardly mattered now that Din's mind was occupied with lingering thoughts of worry and anxiety.
"How we'll never be seen as living, breathing people with that rumor going around," Din answered, his gaze shifting to his feet. "This town hates us, Cobb. You know they'll kill both of us if they get the chance."
"We'll leave, then," Cobb said as he threaded the needle through Din's skin and pulled another section of the wound shut.
"And go where? We barely have enough money to buy food these days."
"We'll do odd jobs, save enough money to buy a place of our own where no one can bother us! It'll be like old times."
Din had to chuckle at Cobb's positivity, though he knew being positive wouldn't be enough to save them. Perhaps his pessimistic mind was simply at work twisting his thoughts with negativity. He had faith in Cobb, and that faith was hard to shake.
Cobb sutured up the last section of the wound, cut the thread with his knife, then tied it off. "We could buy a wagon 'n cart a few folks around—for a fee of course. Maybe we'll even get some fine ladies to ride with us." He glanced up with a cheeky smile that Din just couldn't ignore.
"I'm afraid you'll get jealous when they're all over me." Din teased, reaching for his shirt on the nightstand.
Cobb grabbed his thigh and pulled him back, now at eye-level with him.
"Oh, I think I'll be more than just jealous." Cobb's voice was low and somewhat husky with a teasing edge to it. He leaned in closer, squeezing Din's thigh as he raised his other hand to Din's face. "I'd believe they were stupid, thinking they could handle you like that without consequence."
A shiver traveled down Din's spine as Cobb brushed his knuckles against his cheek. They gazed into each other's eyes for a moment, Din's brown ones meeting Cobb's hazel ones. Then, Din initiated the kiss that enveloped them both.
Cobb pushed Din down on the bed and straddled his hips, being mindful of the sutures on his side. He steadied himself on the bed and buried one hand in Din's dark curls, gently gripping them in his fist. Things were heated and passionate between them, each hungrily kissing the other and craving more. The world around them and its struggles were forgotten. They were lost in their own world of blissful peace.
Eventually, Din's hands wandered down to Cobb's belt, his fingers fumbling with the clasps in a clumsy attempt to signal that he wanted to move things along. After the unbuttoning of Cobb's shirt and the removal of both pants and undergarments, Cobb wasted no time maneuvering into a better position. He leaned over Din, his breath hot against his ear.
"I won't let anyone ruin what we have, sweetheart. That's a promise. You're my ride or die."
"God, I love you.."
Cobb slowly pushed into Din and began moving at a gentle pace, earning a soft moan from him. He alternated between whispering sweet nothings in his ear and leaving his mark wherever it wouldn't be noticed by prying eyes. Over time, he quickened his pace, his thrusts steadily growing harder and rougher. Pleasure coursed through Din's veins and he couldn't contain himself any longer.
Thankfully their cabin was settled in the countryside, where no one could hear their moans of absolute bliss.
