"Dank farrik!"
Din sank to the ground in defeat. Five hours of hard work had gotten him nowhere. The Crest just refused to budge. It was initially having problems as he descended towards the planet's surface, but he thought nothing of it. Looking back, he should've taken it more seriously.
A few minutes into his frustrated sulking, Din felt something tug on his cape. He turned his head and saw Grogu standing there. He sighed, scooping the little one into his lap. "Hey kid... I uh.. I've got some bad news."
Grogu blinked and tilted his head.
"The ship isn't working. I've tried everything, but it still won't fly." Din said with another heavy sigh. "We won't be going anywhere for a while. I can't get you any gifts until I repair the ship."
Grogu only blinked slowly, as if he was trying to understand Din's situation. After a moment, he pushed himself out of Din's lap and waddled away.
Din watched him go, feeling even worse. "Grogu, I'm sorry. I- ah, forget it.." He muttered, hanging his head and staring at the ground.
A few minutes passed, then he heard a soft coo and felt something nudge his knee. Reluctantly, he looked up. Grogu was there, and there was something in his little hands. "What's that?"
Grogu cooed again and held out his hands. In his hands were three little pebbles. He showed them to Din and looked at him expectantly.
Din was a little confused. "Those are just rocks."
Grogu huffed a little, continuing to offer Din the rocks.
It took Din a second to realize what Grogu was doing. "Oh, you want me to... take them? Is this a gift for me?" He questioned.
Grogu cooed happily and nodded.
Din only became more confused, but didn't want to hurt Grogu's feelings. He sighed and gently took the rocks from him. "Thanks, bud. I really like them." He actually felt a little better.
Grogu giggled and climbed back into Din's lap, happy that his dad liked his gift.
Din clutched the rocks in one hand, the other wrapping around Grogu protectively. He turned his gaze towards the night sky. "Don't worry, kid. I promise I'll get you some good presents when I get the ship running again." He said, gently nuzzling Grogu's fuzzy head with his free hand.
