Ninja Skills (from Possibilities)

(Ferb's POV)

I wake up to see Phineas already on his computer, chatting with someone on his email account. I get up slowly and sneak behind him so I can see who it is. Of course, my brother, seemingly with supernatural ability, hears me when I trip over Perry and land in a box of tambourines. "Morning, Ferb!"

I groan and sit up painfully. If you've never landed face first into tambourines, you can not understand the pain that courses through me at this moment. "Phineas, why on Earth is there a box of tambourines next to your bed?"

He laughs, "You told me to get some tambourines for today, remember? They were on sale." He hasn't looked away from the screen. I remember that since yesterday he's been acting even more energetic and happy than usual. I know, right? I thought it would have been impossible.

I stand up and pick up our pet gently, stroking him to apologize for tripping over him. "Who are you talking with?"

"Ah, that's what you were trying to see with your ninja-like stealth." Phineas chuckles again. He must have seen my approach in the mirror next to his computer. "I'm talking to..." His voice trails off, and I see sadness cloud his eyes briefly. "My twin sister."

About five minutes later, I open my eyes to see that my dear and loving brother is smacking his hand back and forth across my face to wake me up. I think I see Perry laughing, but that must just be another illusion caused by the tambourines. "I thought I heard you say 'twin sister.'"

Phineas smiles slightly, "I did." He glances away, refusing to meet my eyes. "I've been meaning to tell you, but I wasn't sure how. Apparently saying it outright wasn't the best way."

I sit up slowly and glare at him, "Meaning to tell me? You have a twin sister, and this whole time, you've just been meaning to tell me?"

He sighs, and sits back on his chair, facing the computer again. "It never really came up in casual conversation. Plus, I just figured you and her would never meet. I didn't actually start writing to her until a little over a year ago." Phineas types something into his computer, "Mom told me yesterday that I had to tell you today, because she's coming here to live with us." His voice is glowing with joy at the last sentence, and I faint again.

At breakfast, Mother appears to have some very important news to share. She made us Belgian waffles with whipped cream and strawberry pie filling from a can. She only des that when she's in a great mood or it's one of our birthdays. And last time I checked my calendar, there are no more birthdays until November. She sits down at the table and grins around at us. "I have some great news to tell all of you. Yesterday, Zachary and I confirmed Mackenzie's airplane tickets. She's coming to live with us for a year."

Candace seems to be the only one who's surprised, "Really? Mackie's coming?" She lights up and dances around the table to give us all hugs. "And why am I the only one who looks surprised?" She settles down and glares at Mother.

Father smiles, "Well, Candace, your mother and I have been discussing this since the plan began. Phineas and Mackenzie have known all along, and judging from the fact that I needed to bring Ferb out of unconsciousness by spraying whipped cream on his face, he got all of his surprise out this morning."

Everyone laughs. "Hardeharhar." I grumble, taking a bite of my waffles. I make sure to get all three components into the bite, and my bad mood dissolves slowly as I eat. Not paying much attention as the other family members talk excitedly about the visit, I finish my meal and leave the table to get ready for my day. My feelings are a little bit hurt that Phineas kept this big of a secret from me the whole time we've known each other, but I guess he doesn't know everything about me either.

When I get out of the bathroom, drawing a comb through my wet hair, Phineas is standing in the hallway waiting for me. "Ferb... I'm sorry for not telling you. It was just so hard to talk abut her..." He looks like he's about to break into tears.

"I forgive you, Phineas. It's just, we're best friends. It really hurt that you would keep this big a thing from me." I sigh, and give him a hug. He stiffens slightly, but hugs me back.

When we pull apart, he grins slyly. "One thing about starting your day by falling into a box of tambourines, it sure makes you talkative."

I mock glare at him. "Shut up, Flynn."

He salutes, "Yes sir, Fletcher sir! Requesting permission to enter bathing house!"

Chuckling, I point at our sister. "Looks like I'm not the one you need to ask."

Candace is sidling along the wall, edging closer to the bathroom. I don't stay around to hear the resulting argument, filled with inside jokes from before I was around. How am I going to deal with one more Flynn around the house? If it wasn't for Cherry, I'd have nobody from my past to keep me company.
