"So what were you looking for out there anyway?"
(Y/n) (L/n)'s Perspective

"Are you sure you don't want me to come along?" Stanford asked for the 20th time this morning. The world had looked so much more beautiful than I had expected, everything so green and blue.
"I'm certain, I've survived on my own for years, Stanford. At least now I have someone to come back to." I said, offering a smile, watching as his face turned a bright shade of pink. "I shouldn't be gone long. I hope you enjoy your game."
"Will do, be careful, (Y/n)."
"Doodly doo! Well hello there beautiful!" A high pitched voice said from behind me. Turning around, I didn't find anyone, but when I looked down... "hello!"
"Ah. A gnome." I say aloud before kneeling down. "I didn't realize gnomes were in this dimension."
"Oh! You're one of those weird talker humans! Anyway! Nice to meet ya! I'm Jeff!" The gnome announced, throwing his little hand out for me to shake, and I do so carefully.
"(Y/n). Are you the only tribe out here?" I ask, wondering how well they knew the forest and if they could help.
"I haven't seen any other gnomes out here, so I'd assume so. Tell ya what! You could learn a lot about us if you become our new queen!" Jeff announced, making jazz hands. A part of me wanted to laugh: me? A Queen of gnomes. My father would kill me if I was to rule such a large kingdom of small men. Not to mention marry all of them.
"No thank you, I am quite content in my own one way relationship." I say with a smile, yet sorrow in my voice.
"Well that sucks. What do you mean by that?" Jeff asks, while pouting from my rejection.
"I am in love with a man who will never love me. But I am content with watching him grow as a friend." I reply before rising to my feet. "Now if you'll excuse me. I must find the ingredients to heal my being."
"Woah woah woah! You're going to spill all of that on me and then leave!" Jeff said, running in front of me waving his hands. "How bout I help you find what you're looking for and you tell me more about this halfwit you're so smitten over!"
A small grin came over my lips as I sigh out a laugh. It would feel good to get out I presume. Express the frustrations I had that I wouldn't dare utter in his presence. It is not my place to criticize him, but critique. And with a stubborn man, such as himself, that would be difficult to do.
"I suppose I'd enjoy the company." I state before continuing forth, slowly. "I am searching for a gremoblin, growth crystals, red mushrooms, lepricorn blood, and any poisonous or euphoric effect plants."
"Well there's plenty of that last one around here, but we can get that last. That first one may be a little difficult. Gremoblins are terrifying. Looking straight into its eye—"
"Causes you to see your worst fear. I'm aware. However, it only paralyzes those whose bodies function for less than 200 years. I am 246. 247 in at the end of this year, since I don't remember my actual birthday." I ramble in response, before waving my hand. "Anyway. I can look straight into the eyes of a gremoblin. Last time I looked into one of their eyes was when I was 132. Now, I'm slightly curious to know what my new fear is."
"You are insane lady! I love it! So who is this mystery guy and what is he like?" Jeff asks, leading me in a direction I can only guess is where the gremoblin is.
"He is just like anyone else. He has flaws, but that makes him alive. He is actually a genius in this dimension, but where I'm from he's only above average. Which, I'm certain, with his pride, would upset him." I share with a laugh.
"And you're going to outlive him?" Jeff asks, sounding slightly awkward. "I mean he's human, he won't be alive forever."
"I am aware, but I'd prefer to focus on the now rather than the then." I answer with a sigh. There were plenty of things I could do to see him after death, but that would be selfish of me. It would be best not to worry about now. "What are we getting first? I'd assume we're seeing the gremoblin, however I am unsure as to where you are taking me."
"We're finding Henry, the gremoblin. He lives up on the hill in a cave. Nice guy, when he isn't uprooting the bar." Frank said with a scoff. "Whatever you need from him, he'll be sure to get it for ya."
"Good. It should be quick. I'd like to be back before sundown. I just hope I won't cause any worry back at the cabin."
"Oh! You're staying with the Pines family!" Frank exclaimed, snapping his fingers in realization.
"Yes." I answered before the trees began to clear and a cave was revealed. "Is this the place?"
"Yup! Everyone is relatively close in the forest. It's Larry who likes to stay away from everyone. He doesn't like being woken up from his naps." Frank explains before leading me inside.
The cave almost instantly reminded me of home. A tad wet from the humidity, a little chilly and quite large. A few decorations and a bunk bed would make it feel like she took a trip back home.
"George! We have a visitor!" Jeff yelled into the cave before hearing a thundering roar echo in response. "Or is it Gregory..."
"Who dares disturb me?! I was in the making a bath." A large Phoenix with the voice of a man answers, slowly walking out from the mountain.
"(Y/n)! This is Geor-gory! I don't remember! He owns the cave-tropilas a place monsters and weirdos such as ourselves can rent out." Jeff explains before leaning against a rock and waving his hand about the air toward the Phoenix. "Henry's still here right? This lovely lady here needs to talk to him."
"Ah. Yes. He's down in the crystal waters. Be nice, he's still upset about being captured by the human child."
Jeff lead the way down to the crystal waters by using the elevator and a stone he found on the ground. I didn't have time to process it before we were falling and fast. My heart pounded hard in my chest as I focused my aura on what was happening. Jeff had seemed so calm.
This feeling... it reminds me of the portal. I feel sick, dizzy, drained. Like I want to reach out for something or someone. But it also felt like freedom. Because even if I died I won't have to face my trials anymore.
However, we stopped with a thud but there was no recoil or even an ounce of pain. Jeff walked out without a problem and I followed, wondering if the speed was just an illusion or if we truly went down that fast.
The cavern around us was quite the sight to behold. It reminded me of Crystal Glaze, a realm of witches and wizards with familiars of crystals and homes of mountains filled with gems. The place was beautiful. The walls sparkled and shined and dead ahead was a waterfall. My guess is that it lead to the crystal waters.
"Dead ahead!" Jeff's voice echoed as he was two feet away from me. I swiftly followed suit and past the falls was a large lake of shining blue water. And there in the water was a large gremoblin, clearly soaking up to get as big as possible before shrinking back to normal size. "Heya pal! How's it going?"
"Me angry. I want relaxation. Jeff leave Henry be." The gremoblin huffed and puffed, shifting himself to make himself appear bigger than his already large form.
"Hey! I'm not here for you! But she is, so!" Jeff shrugged after motioning to me.
"Hello Henry! I am (Y/n). I arrived to dimension 46'\ a week ago and have been having a difficult time adjusting to the environment. In order to adjust, an ingredient I need to help heal is one of your growths on your back. A mushroom to be more specific." I explained as straight forward and as kindly as possible.
"Henry likes his mushrooms. Why human want? What human give?" Henry asks. I hum to myself in thought. What did I have? What could I lose?
"I can give you a bag of poker chips from dimension Lottocron Nine. If you find a gambler in the marketplace or any character of business I'm certain they'll exchange them for the currency you wish to acquire." I offer pulling out a large bag from the backpack I held.
"Hmmm... lady steal chips from Lottocron. Henry approves. Take what you need." Henry accepts, his large frame slowly approaching through the water.
"This may hurt a little." I warn before pulling out a knife and cutting through the stem of a mushroom. Henry roared in a mix of pain and surprise, but steady when I assured him that was all.
"You frighten Henry. Henry go sleep now." The gremloblin whimpered, taking his chips and leaving.
The trip out of the cave was fast. Though clearly our venture was not. The sun was stationed at 12, Ford must be worried. This was taking longer than expected.
"I must request we hurry. I do not wish to bring panic amongst my loved ones." I request to my guide, who grunted in annoyance.
"Sorry lady, but a gnome can only go so fast."
"Then shall I carry you?"
"Hey hey! I ain't no pup—" Jeff's gaze seemed to wander a bit before he let out a chuckle. "You know what? Sure. I've got places I gotta be and other gnomes I want to talk to anyway."
"Lovely." I reply before picking him up, using one arm like you'd hold a toddler. "Which way for growth crystals, red mushrooms, or lepricorn blood?"
"Well Corny lives near the growth crystals and we'll find some red mushrooms on the way to the best spot for euphoric plants."
"Thanks for the blood Corny!" Jeff laughs, having been effected by the euphoric plant he was holding for me. "Man! Who would've thought he'd have a jar of his own blood!"
"Hm, yes. However it is not a jar. It is a vile. He grew it using a crystal. Perhaps by accident, but at least it will still work. The crystals don't change any properties, thankfully." I reply, walking toward the large crystals. Thankfully the sun was on the other side of us or we'd possibly be hit by it's ray.
"I am afraid that I must be leaving. Thank you for your help Jeff. I appreciate it. When I am well, I shall visit you again." I say with a smile before setting the gnome down. He smiles back and waves before running into a tree.
"I'm ok!" He shouts before running off into the woods.
"What an odd gnome." I sigh aloud and look back up at the sky. "Stanford, I hope you're not too upset."
Gathering the crystals, I place them in my satchel before collecting the last few items and heading back to the shack. If I knew this would have taken all day, I probably would've taken multiple trips to avoid worrying Stanford.
However, when I arrived back to the shack, I found it is I who should have been worried. The side of the shack had a large chunk of the wall missing and inside was a wreck of paper and wood chips. Amongst the mess, I found my answer to the mess, the infinity sided die laying on the ground, unsupervised.
Shaking my head, I pick up the die and step back outside to assess the damage. Clearly the blast that destroyed the wall came from the inside. What happened after I knew would be explained soon by the sound of approaching footsteps.
"Oh my gosh! It's a strange pretty woman!" A deep feminine voice shouted, causing me to turn around. There were the Pines' family, Stanford amongst them, as well as a large child who owned the deep voice.
"Ah! It's the mystery woman! Are you our aunt?!" Mabel asked with excitement in her voice. I held back a smile and turn my annoyed glare to Stanford.
"What happened here?" I ask, using a different language in order to avoid communicating with the children. Stanford, despite being flustered by Mabel's comment, caught on quick and responded in the same dialect.
"Long story, I'll explain later." Shaking my head at his words, I toss him the die.
"I expect better, 'Great Uncle Ford'." I state, teasingly, causing him to blush once more.
"Honestly Mabel, I'm starting to wonder the same thing. They've got their own secret language and everything." Stan, Ford's brother, spoke up. I couldn't help but smile and let out a soft laugh.
"My name is (Y/n). If it is not to much trouble, I'd like to fix the wall." I answer taking a glance toward the two brothers.
"You can try, but you don't even have the tools—" Stan began before I raised my hand up. My eyes and body began to glow a soft, dark, (f/c) before the wall slowly reversed from the explosion back to it's original state. "You're ok in my book lady!"
"I must retreat. I bid you farewell." I state before bowing my head and heading back down to the basement. I was more than ready to hear Stanford's excuses before we continue onto what matters.
