He's Alive

Lian's POV

It's morning and we are all eating breakfast discussing Mulan's departure yesterday. She would of reached Qui-Gong last night. We still don't know what she meant by that she'd finish the mission. Though I have been thinking about it a lot. She just lost the love of her life and may not find love again. She's also a hero and would be a fine prize for any man or kingdom. Could she be offering herself in my sisters' places?

The rain had stopped late last night. But the ground is damp. I noticed Honghui horse is missing. I saw hoof prints leading away from our shelter. I asked Shang if we should go after him and he said no. We were going to go to Qui-Gong and ask for help searching for Honghui's body. So that he can be put to rest properly.

"Mulan said she was gonna finish the mission, no matter what" Yao states. As we look at Qui-Gong. My sisters standing with the men they love.

"But how can she without us?" Mei asks.

"There is only one way" I state.

"Agreed" Shan says.

"How?" Su asks us.

"By taking your place" a man's voice says. We gasp and turn to see Honghui alive on his horse. Injured, but alive.

"Honghui's Alive!" Chien-po shouts as we head towards him as his horse crosses the small stream.

"Honghui, you're alive. You're alive!" Yao cheers.

"I am happy to see you alive cousin" Shang says grabbing his hand.

"We all are" I tell him with a smile.

"Mulan was right. No one should marry someone they don't love" Honghui states.

"Agreed" Shang says.

"Finally" I say with a smile as I hug him. He wraps his arm around my waist smiling down at me.

"I'm going to Qui-Gong" Honghui declares.

"We're going with you" Ting-Ting tells him.

"No, you're not. Stay here" he states and gallops away towards Qui-Gong.

"Hmm, would you say that was an order?" Ling asks the others.

"I would say it was a friendly suggestion" Chien-Po states. They all look at each other.

"Lets go!" Yao exclaims. They take off running towards Qui-Gong as my sisters cheer happily.

"Would you say it was an order my love?" I ask Shang.

"Even if it was, I out rank him and he can not order me" he states.

"Nor can he order me around" I say with a smile. We mount our horses. "Last one there buys dinner" I tell him and make my horse gallop. He follows quickly.

(Time skip)

We arrived safely, but no sign of Honghui. Everyone is buzzing about the wedding between Mulan and the oldest prince of Qui-Gong Jeeki. We have found the others and have joined the crowd in front of the golden dragon of unity where the wedding is to take place. "I bet you he got lost" I tell Shang.

"Don't worry, he'll be here" he assures me. As Mulan is revealed and she looks beautiful. But I can tell she is sad. She makes her way down the stars towards the king of Qui-Gong and his oldest son. Who was playing with something in his hands.

Mulan reaches them as Jeeki hands his hands. The king holds two chalices as he faces the crowd. "My people, the Golden Dragon of Unity, who guides us in all we do, today sanctifies a union that will be a blessing for all of Qui Gong" he declares happily. Handing a chalice each to Mulan and Jeeki.

The crowd cheer as Mulan looks into her chalice. I see a lone tear fall. Shang wraps his arms around me. "It'll be ok" he assures me in a whisper. Hurry up Honghui I think as the sash is tied around both chalices, once they drink the wedding union will be sealed.

"With the tying of this sash, we shall unite not only two lives, but two kingdoms" the king declares. The sash is broken by a shrunken star. A hush falls over the ground as we all turn to see who threw the star. To see Honghui on his horse, about time.

"It's Captain Honghui" a member of the crowd says.

"He's alive" another says. I look back as Mulan as Honghui has his horse make it's way through the crowd. I smile, she looks so happy. Honghui reaches the Golden Dragon of Unity and dismounts his horse. He and Mulan run into each others arms.

"You're alive" Mulan says relieved.

"I couldn't let you get married without me" he tells her.

"Captain, this is outrageous!" the king cries separating them. I share a look with Shang and we we start to head towards them. "You will leave at once" he orders Honghui.

"I'm not going anywhere" Honghui tells him.

"Enough!" I snap.

"Princess Lian" the king says bowing his head.

"Who are you to stop the union of my cousin in law to his one true love?" I demand.

"My princess he tramples upon this sacred ceremony that will unite our kingdoms. Mulan vowed to marry my oldest son and she will" he states. I look at Mushu and we lock eyes. I look up at the statue then back at him. He seems to get the message.

"Over my dead body" Shang states.

"My lord, I love Mulan. I don't care what the rules say. If she'll have me, I intend to marry her right here. Right now" Honghui declares. The king goes to protest.

"Enough, lets see what the Golden Dragon of Unity has to say about this matter" I state.

"Foolish girl, the..." he starts to scold me. Fire appears from the Golden Dragon's mouth. Startling everyone gathered.

"Yoo! What's with all this drama?" Mushu demands. Pretending to be the Golden Dragon of Unity.

"The Golden Dragon of Unity. He lives" the king declares.

"Mushu?" Mulan says lowly looking at me. I wink and she smiles. Everyone in Qui-Gong bows. I step forward.

"Oh great Golden Dragon of Unity we need your wisdom with the problem we face" I state.

"Of course" Mushu states before addressing the king. "You dang right, I live. So you best drop your dumpling-eating behind on down and tell me why we ain't busting out the vows?" he demands.

"But your greatness, Captain Chen Honghui is not a son of Qui Gong" the king states. Mushu lets out another stream of fire demand silence. The king cowers behind Honghui and Mulan.

"I am the Golden Dragon of Unity, and I decide whom to unify. My all-seeing eye has peered into the very heart of China. And I've never seen two people more right for one another than this lovely couple right here, Mulan and Honghui. Give it up for them, would you please?" Mushu asks and the crowd cheers.

"We shall proceed with their union at once oh great golden dragon of unity" I state.

"See that you do" Mushu states.

"Yes, your greatness. As you command" the king says. I stand in front of Mulan and Honghui.

"Mulan, do you love Honghui?" I ask.

"Yes, with all my heart" she states.

"Honghui, do you love Mulan?" I ask.

"Yes" he says.

"Then by the power invested in me as crowned princess and future Empress of China. "I hereby pronounce you husband and wife" I declare.

"You got anything to say, Lord Double Chin?" Mushu asks the king.

"Yes, I mean, no. I mean, whatever you say" the king tells him.

"And furthermore, I hereby decree that the princesses of the Middle Kingdom, wherever they may be, are released from their vow, and may marry whomsoever they please. And who pleases them, that's very important" Mushu declares. All four couples kiss as the crowd cheer.

"Now Lord Qin, I believe we have a treaty to discuss" I state.

"Lets us take this meeting inside" Shang states. The king nods and we head inside.
