General Fa is injured in war.

Her eyes honed in on one target, a dirty playing soldier of the opposing side. "SHANG!" She shrieked. Her world warped as her yell turned the dirty player's attention to her. She notched an arrow and shot him. But then her own world went black as she hit the ground.

*Set just after Mulan, where the Turks decide to try and invade. She and Shang are sent away to help fight on the frontlines.*
Also, as a reward for protecting her country twice, saving emperor Wei's life, and taking his daughters safely to Qui Gong: he made her a general as well. She used her birth name and went by General Fa, so as to not confuse anyone by there being 2 General Li's.

Mulan both loved and hated fighting. She loved the thrill of riding on horseback, brandishing a sword and shouting to protect her country and family. But the close-calls that accompanied... that she didn't like. Before, she probably wouldn't have cared, but now she had a husband to grow old with, and that gave her purpose. Granted, said husband was a general in the military, but nevertheless.

All had gone well for the first 2 years of their marriage. They continued to fight and train new troops and moved into a new house in the countryside. It was closer to the emperor, should they be needed in an emergency, but far enough out to avoid the city bustle. They had yet to conceive a baby, they tried... many times, but had yet to have one. That wasn't a bad thing though: they were still young, Mulan - 18, Shang - 20, and at the peak of their careers. Hell, Mulan's parents were 35 when they had her!

But a month after their 2nd anniversary, they were called into service once more. The Turks had decided to give China a go, seeing that the Huns had failed. Mulan's position of general was announced throughout, and when they reached Whu Zhong, she met her group of 200 recruits. Shang had around 250 of the more experienced men, most of which were from their last battle against the huns.

Mulan made good pace with the new ones and within a month (at the assistance of a council member who was not Chi-Fu, thank god) they were on their way to help Shang and his troops by the border.

She grinned at her husband when they met for the first time in a month. "How's it going?" She asked. Shang sighed. "We seem to be winning, but they've taken out a lot of our hand soldiers. It's just archers and the veterans who are left," Mulan patted his shoulder. "That's why we're here," She turned to her group, her emerald green cape flowing in the wind.

Shang watched fondly as she commanded her troops like old friends. "Split into your groups! Archers to my left, swordsmen to my right and riders with your horses on my front," Shang mounted his own horse at her command, smirking when she faced him atop Khan. "Why're you on Qing? We can go from here. You rest," Shang dismissed her. "Nah. The medic's got it sorted. My troops will assist you," He smiled at her obviously released expression.

Mulan rode to the battle line, shouting orders at her troops. "Soldiers! If you die, you die with honour and will be given an honourable burying. Are you ready?" She called. Keep it short and sweet. They cheered. She yelled.

She charged in on Khan. She felt a grin split her face as the wind rushed through her hair. She pulled her bow off of her back and shot as Khan rode. Her arches took fire from their places, swarming the Turkish footmen. Their numbers dropped down to zero Turkish archers, so she jumped off and let Khan ride off to safety. She rolled into a fighting stance and swung at a Turk's ankle. He roared and dropped to the ground. Her men shouted after her and began slicing Turks down, one by one. She slashed through another hun when she saw him.

The leader, sat on his horse, completely open to an attack.

She charged at him, blade raised, dripping with blood. "You must be Fa Mulan," He crooned. She swung at him, he met her blade with his own. "Do not speak as though we are friends!" She yelled. She charged at him again, but he swung at her midsection.

She jumped back but fell. She recovered by rolling into a crouching stance. "You're as good as the rumours say," He mumbled. "Is your husband?" Mulan spun. Shang was easily overwhelmed, five Turks to one. His soldiers dwindled into the teens.

"NO!" She screamed. She spun at the leader's feet, slicing them with her sword. He dropped to the ground, yelling, but swung at her leg. She jumped and thrust her sword into his thigh. It dug into the ground behind him, pinning him. He roared and gave one final swing at her calf. She screamed and grabbed it. Blood leaked from between her fingers. She brandished her dagger that she kept in her sash. She crawled to his neck and stabbed it down with her whole body weight. He gurgled.

She turned to face the rest of the battlefield. Now the leader was dead, they were going to scatter. No leader, no plan.

She ripped her sash off and tied it securely around her wound, crying out as it pulsated with pain. She picked up her sword and a few arrows. Mulan raced to help some of her swordsmen fight off dirty-playing Turks. "General Fa!" Someone called. She spun. "General Li!" He called again.
Her eyes honed in on one target, a dirty playing soldier of the opposing side. "SHANG!" She shrieked. Her world warped as her yell turned the dirty player's attention to her. She notched an arrow in her bow and took aim. The dirty player dropped to the ground, long dead before impact. She briefly met her husband's eyes before her vision went black.

Mulan woke to a sharp stinging pain in her ribs. "Hey, stay still, you're being cleaned," Someone chastised. "Shang?" She mumbled. "Yeah... how are you feeling?" He asked gently. "Sore," She winced. "Ok, she's all done. Keep them clean and she'll be fine. I'll be back shortly to redress," The doctor bid his goodbyes, moving on to the next patient. "It seems whenever we have a war, you get injured by a sword, doesn't it?" Shang asked softly. Mulan huffed. "I don't think twice counts,"

She could almost see his eye roll.

"Whatever. Here, sit up against this," He said as he eased her up. She breathed through the black dots in her vision. "What happened? Is anyone dead?" She met his eyes. "Um... we won, but we lost a few men. Fifty of mine died, and eleven of yours died. Their bodies have already been found. We're awaiting everybody to wake so we can give them their proper burial," Mulan nodded slowly. "And you? Are you hurt?" Shang chuckled. "Sprained ankle, but nothing else."

She grinned. "How's my wound repertoire this time?" She joked. "Stab wound in the thigh, arrow wound to the shoulder, an arrow through the gut and a broken wrist," Shang listed methodically. Mulan blinked. "Oh..." She whispered. "Oh..." Shang echoed. She lent her head on his shoulder. "I'm glad you're ok," She mumbled.

He kissed her head. "I'm glad you're ok,"
