"Norma, call that doll Annie and inform her that I've decided to hire her, permanent. Tell her to come in tomorrow and sign the paperwork. Also, get the Newbie of the lens and get him writing. Maybe he'll be good at that. Otherwise he's fired, I don't care if he's the Mayor's nephew". Norma looked up from her steno expecting more. "That's all. Thank you"

The hospital bills had stacked up faster than a bullet out of a gun. I felt guilty for Daisy being roughed up and footing the bill was the least I could do. She was being discharged today and I wondered if I should pay her a visit. Maybe not today, she would need to rest up. I put the bills away and got back to work.

Gunn waltz into the office as usual without knocking. He gave me what he thought to be a sunshiny smile.

"I got you the biggest story. How about dinner sometime?"

"I'll call you ... sometime." I replied looking over his shoulder at the stunningly dressed woman. I knew he was bringing me a story from a witness but I never expected this.

"Mrs. McGinty!?" I stood there astounded.

"Call me Lulu" she stepped forward and shook my hand. Gunn fidgeted and I glared at him.

"I'll leave you two at it."

He mentioned something about Daisy, Dinner and The Flapjacks, then rushed off. I focused back at Lulu as who sat comfortably across from me. It was no surprise she was hounded by wolves but there was an unusual sadness reflecting from eyes. I was sure she was taking in every detail of me as I was of her.

"So where do we begin?"

"At the top" she smirked.

She recounted the story of the crooked cops and their plans to start a turf war. She produced a list of the coppers on the take. Also, she explain about Billy and how his friend Neil had helped him escape and the consequences. Next, came Shamus' involvement and a bid to take out the mob bosses so he could start his own muffin business. Followed by the Chinese bid to take over territory by poisoning of Madame Wai Yu. Last, came the results of these actions.

"So when is all this going to happen? The arrests"

"They are happening right now"

"What? Now? All this has to be in the press tomorrow!"

I took a deep breath and looked at the notes I had made and the list. The piece had fallen together. She had corroborated what I already knew and had filled the blanks for the other missing links.

"What about you? What now?" I asked.

"I stop running" she smiled.

The interview has lasted two hours. Gunn never showed to pick up Lulu which was unlike him. I had Lulu dropped off to where ever she wanted to go. The articles were written up and were already being published. Lulu had cleared all the mess but there was still one question unanswered.
