Chapter 32: Limited Moments
A/N
Double update
YOONA
"Woah, easy there. You're not supposed to hug me, nor touch me. I'm a soul."
"Shush, I can do whatever I want to." I stubbornly said as I tried to feel Kai's warmth under my arms though its actually cold.
"And here I thought you've actually changed. You're still the cold lady I know." Kai chuckled and I wanted to smash his face with my fist but my emotions took over me instead.
Gosh, I miss this man.
I heard from Taeyeon unnie and Lay oppa that though Kai is not-let's just say he's not physically around-he can still appear to anyone despite being a soul. This is because his power is teleportation and the fact that he's a prince of an entire planet, specifically the Celeb Planet.
Unnie told me he once showed up to her and Lay oppa, months after he-again, let's just say he disappeared-and also appeared to his parents. Those were the only times though since Unnie said he only has limited chances of showing up as a soul. He didn't appear before the others but they were happy enough to know that he can still show up.
So I waited for the time he'd the same to me.
And he actually did.
"My patience for you was worth it. I really hoped and prayed you will appear before me, and you didn't fail me." I exclaimed through tears I tried to stop from falling, but then I couldn't. I became a crying mess.
"I did appear to you before though, back when you were staying at Sir Sam's cousin's house." He stated, as a matter-of-fact. I looked up as I blink back my tears. I tried to glare at him.
"Idiot, I didn't know you back there. You crept me out!" I complained, which earned me a laugh from him. Because I also couldn't help it, I laughed along with him.
These moments with him are memories I will never, ever, forget. He was someone important to me, and he is still now. I regretted acting that I hate him and I regretted ignoring him before. I regretted not noticing him.
"I remember everything, Kai." I stated while leaning at the big post of the hallway. Kai looked at me, confused.
"Yes, I know. I've been watching." He replied back. I cut my gaze off of him and looked up at the paintings hanged on the walls.
"You didn't tell me you confessed to me twice. The first time was actually back at the fountain, near the cave right?" I looked at him in the corner of my eye, and I could see his eyes grew wide but he fixed his expression. I chuckled.
"I wasn't able to remember that because I suddenly got a breakdown right after you said those words. Your words triggered something inside my head, I just realized that. Now that I remember it, I regret being very dumb to notice. You were the first to do so, and it stirred something inside me." I released an exasperated sigh.
"I'm sorry for not feeling the same way. I'm so sorry." Kai smiled and waved his hand in assurance.
"I moved on from that, Yoona. You don't have to apologize. At least, I experienced that kind of feeling before I died." I flinched when he said the word I've been avoiding to use. "Besides, that was a long time ago. Four years already has passed by so, I was already contented at watching you from afar."
He gave out a smile, which pained my heart to see. How would it be like if I actually fell for him? Would things still turn out this way?
Probably, but on a different level.
"You should try confessing. All those bottled-up feelings will be out, and its a nice feeling." I blushed at his sudden suggestion and that guy appeared to my mind. He laughed when he noticed my reaction. "Seriously, you guys are so slow. Everyone practically knows by now."
"We'll get there, just not now." I told him, and Kai gave out a smile.
Geez, does it really look obvious now?
"Yoona, my time's almost up. I'll be leaving anytime soon." My head shot up in surprise. I looked at him worriedly.
"What? But its only been just a few minutes!" I complained.
"And I cherished every second of it. But I really have to go so that I could still meet you in the future. My chances of showing up is running low, and I have to save it." He explained. All I could do was nod as I blink back the tears trying to come out again. Gosh Yoona, stop crying!
"Okay, I understand." He tried to put his hands on my shoulders, and looked at me in the eye.
"Remember this Yoona, more revelations are going to appear to you more frequently than you'd expect. Take all of them seriously and save your kingdom." I nodded as a reply. "And be careful of the people around you, if they are not the princes, princesses, and the friends you know. Someone could disguise and is actually troublesome behind the mask."
"I will Kai. You can count that on me." I replied. Kai smiled and hugged me one last time.
"I'll miss you. See you next time." I smiled at the words he said.
"See you soon-"
"Lady Yoona, everyone's waiting for you at the banquet." I looked behind me and saw the castle guard calling me. I looked back at where I was hugging Kai but the view of an empty hallway welcomed me.
He's gone.
I sighed and walked towards the palace guard. I was surprised to see that the guard, was a woman. The guard smiled, noticing my expression.
"Shall we go?" She said, opening the door for me. I smiled and nodded.
Its nice to see a change here.

THIRD PERSON POV
The lady guard helped Yoona enter the banquet where everyone was already sitting. She closed the door as soon the petite lady entered. The lady guard then went outside, towards her usual guarding spot.
She greeted her fellow guards with a bow whenever they pass by each other. The guards bow to her in respect. Despite a woman, this lady guard has one of the highest positions in the palace guard.
She stood still by the door near the palace grounds, greeting her fellow guard beside her. She placed her hands inside the pockets of her uniform and suddenly, touched something. She picked it out and smiled.
"Is that the picture of your daughter, miss?" The guard beside her asked, and she nodded. "You always put that out whenever you have time. You really miss her, don't you?"
"Yes, I do. Its been so long since I last saw her. She's still 7 in this picture." She replied, brushing her finger at her daughter's smiling face in the picture.
"I hope you will be able to see her someday. She's currently in another planet, right?" The guard asked, which made her chuckle a bit.
"How did you know that?" She asked.
"I'm sorry miss, I heard it from fellow guards. Was it supposed to be personal?"
"No, not really. I don't mind anyways." She smiled at him. "I also hope you'll be able to see your family too."
"Yeah, I also do hope so, miss." Silence then appeared between the two but it wasn't awkward. It was very relaxing and calm.
The lady guard then looked up at the clear blue sky, the face of he daughter printed in her mind. Though its been 8 years since she last saw her daughter, since she left her to stay at a friend's house back on Earth, she's still waiting for that time where she'll meet her again. She again gazed at the picture on her hand.
"I'll see you someday, my little Lami."
