Chapter- 45
This chapter is dedicated to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack in Kashmir which was very cowardly executed by a country which likes to live in denial.
Also, some of you may not like this chapter because their honeymoon will be postponed to the 47th chapter. This chapter, the only thing I wish to do is to pen down what exactly I think should be done to avenge the lives of our soldiers, who were more precious to us than the kohinoor.

Smriti's POV-
We had already started for the airport. Christian was busy on his phone.
" What are you doing?" I asked.
" Just replying to some emails." He said.
" Great." I muttered.
He then looked towards me and put his arm across my shoulder.
" Baby, I am finishing everything before we reach. Later, all my time will be yours." He said, pecking my lips.
" Please tell me where are we going?? I hate secrets!!" I whined.
" No." He said.
" Pretty please..." I started.
" No Mrs. Grey." He said.
" Fine." I said.
Then how could my phone ever be silent for more than 45 minutes? It rang. I was Mansi.
" Hello Mansi, you reached New York with Lakshya?" I asked her.
" Smriti, the situation here in Kashmir was worsened. The army convoy has been attacked 2 minutes back. It was a suicidal one." She said.
" What the hell! Casualty?" I shouted.
This is disgusting. We as Indians never initiate wars but are very well capable of answering to these nuisances. This fact is always ignored by the neighbours!
" No estimated number. But due to the nature of the blast, it can be as high as 50." She said.
" I am coming." I said.
" You need to. Sanjay sir has asked. He is drafting the mail to you to cancel your leaves. We all are needed here." She said. I hung up.
" Christian...." I started.
" What the hell happened Smriti? You are shaking." He said, holding me by my shoulders.
" Human bomb blast. I need to be there." I said.
" Okay, but calm down." He said.
" Taylor, water." He demanded.
I was really zoned out for a minute or two. He made me have water.
My cell went off again. It was Manish sir this time.
" Ms. Sharma, you flight ticket has been booked and sent to you. Check it out. You need to board in an hour. I have had a talk with the security there. You will be allowed. Had to get the earliest flight possible booked for you today. These ba*tards need to be taught a lesson." He said.
" Sir. Jai Hind Sir." He said.
" Christian I am really sorry. I cannot really balance my work life and personal life with the kind of work area I am in." I apologized.
" It's okay Smriti, we can always go to our honeymoon once you get back, but then I am not leaving you." He said.
" I did tell you earlier than you are free to reject me." I sighed.
" Mrs. Grey, there is none with whom I could have imagined spending my life with except for you and stop being so fucking formal. You are my damn wife." He said. I nodded.
" See, we've reached." He said.
" Bye." I said, pecking his left cheek.
" You need to be bolder than that Mrs Grey." He said and pecked my lips again.
I blushed.
" I'll miss you." I said and got out of the car.
" Stay safe and be here soon." He said and I nodded.
" Bye." I replied.
I got inside the airport and and did the security check. After all the formalities, I called Sanjay sir.
" Sir, I'll be boarding the flight soon. Any update?" I asked.
" Yes.....ert terrorist group has taken the responsibility of the attack." He said.
" This group is based in the neighbouring country." I said.
" Yes. The casualties are going to be high. Reach here and rest of the details will be intimated to you. Fly safe." He said and hung up.
Those 16 hours of flight were like 16 lives' torture. Finally, it was 9 in the morning the next day that Ilanded in New Delhi and went straight to the headquarters.
I called Sanjay sir as I had not carried my id to grant access.
" Sir, what is the status?" I asked.
" 40 soldiers martyred. It was an IED blast with 350 kgs of explosive." He said.
" Oh my god. This is larger than Uri." I said.
" The mortal remains are mutilated beyond recognition. Along with 40 soldiers, there were 13 sniffer dogs in the bus." He said.
" Actions?" I asked.
" The CCS meeting has started at the PM's residence. After the Home Minister gets back here from Kashmir, he will be holding a special meeting with all the major defense chiefs. Then the strategy will be decided." He said.
" I nodded.
" Any orders for us sir?" I asked.
" Yes, a team of 12 people from RAW will be flying to Kashmir at the site of the mishap to analyse the situation and the attack today. You are one of them." He said.
" When do we leave sir?" I asked.
" With the Home minister as soon as the CCS Meeting is concluded. I'd suggest that you go home. You will find Sunaina there. She is also going. 6 people have already reached there for army support." He said.
I nodded and went to sir's home. As expected, aunty attended me.
" These people should crave for their deaths now. Such a heinous crime they have committed." Aunty said.
" Don't worry mom. This is not going to go unpunished." Sunaina said, engulfing me into a hug.
" Smriti, go and freshen up. We need to leave soon." She said and I went to her room and took her clothes.
Then I messaged Christian about my arrival here. I did not call because he must have been asleep or working.
I quickly got ready and we left for the headquarters. Midway, Sunaina got Sanjay sir's call.
As she ended the call, she instructed the driver to fly us to the airforce airport.
We reached there. Formally greeted the home minister and boarded the plane.
As we landed at the airport in Srinagar, there was curfew all over. The site of attack was still screaming avenge.
The Army greeted the Home Minister and he went to pay his last respects and homage to the martyrs mortal remains, wrapped in the tri colour while we stayed back for the investigation.
Looking at all the evidences and talking with the army, it was really clear that it was a crime committed by the country living in denials.
We could make out the anger on the faces of soldiers there.
I was talking to Major Aditya Singh.
" Sir, how was the IED carrier, the explosive not detected by the check posts?" I asked.
" Because of the dirty politics that is being played here in Kashmir." He said.
" The prime minister has given you all full freedom to carry out operations. So now? Are you going to deal with them on a diplomatic level or military level?" I further asked.
" Operation Gagan. Rest of the details in Delhi. The meeting is tomorrow morning." He said.
" Yes sir." I said and then I went to Mansi and Lakshya. They had just finished talking to someone.
" Something big is lined up. A major operation. The details will be awarded to us tomorrow in the meeting." I told them.
Mansi nodded.
Then we went to the camp where the mortal remains of our veer jawaan were laid down to rest. 40 coffins were put in a line.
There were tears in our eyes and goosebumps all over.
" These lives sacrificed will not go in vain. We will give a befitting reply to the terrorists and the nations which support terrorism. " Said the home minister.
There it was, the desire of the enemies' blood in all of our eyes. The tears were not of sorrow, but of vengeance.
" Jai Hind." It was what we chorused, it was what gave us power to initiate bloodshed, to take revenge.
Tomorrow will mark a beginning of New India which will not hesitate in initiating war if it takes to do the right think and not let the deaths of the soldiers go in vain.
They started it but we will bloody hell finish it. ( A/N- I intend to take no credits for this line.)
No benchmark for comments. I had to write it so I did. Just make sure to inform me your views about this chapter wherever you want.
