Cooking Is Hard

Ok, first of all, I am super pleased with how this story is turning out. We're getting a lot of reads, a lot of votes, and a lot of comments! It's like a miracle! When I first published the chapter, I didn't expect anyone to like it. And now we have people begging for updates! Thank you so much! Second of all, when we reach 1k (I say when because I have absolute confidence in you guys) I MIGHT be persuaded to do a bonus chapter. Might.

~Katlyn

Ooh, a bonus chappie sounds like a good idea! I'll have to come up with ideas. I am totally excited with this story, it's going so far, and I seriously have literally no clue how. You guys are sitting around and taking time to read Katlyn and I's work and you actually like it. You have no idea how amazing it is.

Sophie's POV

What the hell just happened? I felt like I just stood there for 30 minutes, waiting for someone to laugh and tell me that it was all a big joke and that I could just leave.

"Keefe," I finally said, shocked.. "Ms. Sencen?"

" What's wrong with it?" Keefe smirked. "Foster."

" Well according to you, it's Sencen," I grumbled.

" Quite catchy, huh?" Keefe asked with a smug grin that made me incredibly aggravated.

"Keefe," I whined slamming my hands down on our dresser, knocking a few papers to the ground in the process.

"Sophie," Keefe mimicked, reaching for the papers I had dropped. I made out a few words - words that made me gasp.

"Birth certificate?" I shrieked in horror. "Keefe, we have children!"

Keefe stopped still. "We what?"

I snatched the papers from his hand and read them aloud with growing horror. "Naomi Amy Sencen - 8 years old. Mesmer. Favian William Sencen - 14 years old. Undetermined. Malik Wylie Sencen - 16 years old. Telepath. Keefe, we have three  children!"

Keefe gaped like a fish, opening and closing his mouth. "We... we what?" he rasped.

"Naomi, Favian, and Malik!" I screamed. "They - are - our - kids!" I covered my face with my hands, moaning. I'm too young to have kids!

"Our... we had... we..." For once, Keefe seemed at a loss for words. "Foster - Sencen - that means we had..."

I cut him off with a scowl. "Stop it right there, Keefe Sencen. I swear, if you finish that sentence, I will finish you!"

"Calm down Foster, you don't even know what I was going to say," remarked Keefe, hiding a smile.

"Uh, I have a pretty good idea," I said with a sigh and a roll of my eyes.

"Unfortunately, you got a point," he said defeatedly. "But still!"

The door opened with a creak. A boy, I was assuming he was Malik, walked in sleepily. His eyes were the first thing I noticed. They were hazel, like crushed emeralds with honey filling the cracks.

"Mum, Dad, you coming? Naomi needs breakfast." Malik flashed us a timid smile. "And you know how she gets when she's hungry."

"Coming - er, Malik dear," I said, stumbling over my words.

"Malik?" He looked truly worried now. "I'm Favian." Favian shook his head slowly. "Are you sure you're all right?"

"Right, sorry, um... Favian darling, could you leave me and your... father alone for a few minutes? We'll be out in a flash." When I was finished talking, he slowly backed out of the room, a nervous expression on his face. After he had left, I turned to Keefe, who was silently cracking up.

"F-father?" he asked between guffaws. "You couldn't have said d-dad or something?"

"This is not the time, Keefe!" I complained. "Favian knows that something is up!"

"Don't you mean Favian darling?" Keefe mocked, donning a dreamy look for effect. "Oh, Favian darling - "

"Shut up," I snapped with a glare.

"Ok, ok let's just go make our kids breakfast," grumbled Keefe.

"Uh, Keefe, you can't cook," I responded, confused. "And trust me, you've tried."

"It can't be too hard, all you do is mix ingredients together and then cook it," Keefe remarked. "How could I mess that up?"

"It's really not that simple," I said with a sigh. "And you can mess up just about anything. But if you say you can, then be my guest."

Three batches of failed blitzenberry muffins and 15 botched brattails later Keefe finally gave up. Naomi looked a little bit worried, and Favian definitely knew something was wrong, but Malik was totally oblivious.

"Mom, we could just go to Uncle Dex's to get breakfast. He makes the best porcarot pie," suggested Naomi innocently, not wanting to hurt her parents' feelings by saying that they couldn't cook to save their lives.

"Of course, sweetie, " I responded with a smile, but... when did Dex learn how to cook? He certainly hadn't shown any sign of being able to back in our world. Our world. Where were we? Was this a hallucination? Or were we really somewhere else? Somewhere real?

"I can leap us there," offered Favian, obviously wondering if we were capable of using a Leapmaster after our cooking... experiment. Seeing my conflicted face, he immediately put in, "It's no big deal. You guys seem a little... off today."

He had a point there. "Malik? Naomi? You guys okay with that?" I asked worriedly. I didn't know Favian, even if he was my kid. I shouldn't have trusted him not to kill us all. But somehow... I knew that he was trustworthy.

"Sure, fine, whatever," replied Malik in a bored tone. "Does my hair look good?"

I noticed Keefe's trademark smirk - a sure sign of what was to come. "He certainly takes after me, does he not?" he whispered to me.

"Gosh, I hope not," I replied. "Because then I'd hardly be able to stand him!"

"Er, mom, dad, you guys done?" Favian asked worriedly. "I can leap us now."

"Yes, dear," mocked Keefe. I kicked him in the shin, causing him to emit a very girlish squeal. "That hurt!"

"It was supposed to," I told him sarcastically.

We continued to bicker even as we walked up to the Leapmaster, only pausing for concentration before the leap. I grabbed Naomi's hand, making sure that she wouldn't fade during the leap.

The pull of the light felt different here. Was it because we were in a dream? That was my theory. Just a very elaborate hallucination.

We tumbled onto Dex's front step. Favian knocked on the door.

"Hello?" asked a voice. Biana pulled open the door. "Sophie! Keefe! What a pleasant surprise!"

I couldn't speak. Biana was living with Dex?!? When did this happen???

Hello wonderful readers! Unfortunately, it's just Anna. I deeply apologize, but Katlyn has quit Wattpad for reasons unknown to the glorious being that is me. I'm sorry.

This story is not discontinued. I will continue it. The writing level will not go down (hopefully), so never fear! Just a very important thing to mention.
