For my niece's 3rd b-day I made a Mirabel piñata. Mirabel is a character from the Disney movie Encanto.

To make a piñata this tall, you're gonna wanna use 2 foam boards on each side. Those 2 boards need to be firmly and smoothly attached.

I like stracing & cutting the boards first, so I don't have to cut through tape, & so I can wrap that tape around the edge.

I like to use a WIDE tape like a duct tape, packing tape, etc. If you use a WIDE masking tape... do a double layer.

Do this for each side of your piñata.

Stapling 2 strips across the boards will give some extra support.

Every step of the way, make sure you are think of what else needs to go in that area. As in, don't put the strips too close to the edge, because you still need to staple around the perimeter of the piñata, & you don't wanna block candy flow or the cups.

When I add cups, I put some
facing up or down,
to help with candy flow.

Since this was my first time running rope down the piñata... I taped & stapled it down, but it's really not necessary.

This was my first time running rope down the length of a piñata. I was worried about connecting the boards together.

Let me tell you, IT WORKED!!

The piñata lasted.

I made the mistake of trying to cut
the back part of the piñata off.

Unfortunately, this balloon has areas where the front and back of the balloon are connected to give a more 3D form. If your balloon connects in certain areas... do not separate. Just cut the helium tabs off and glue it all down as one piece.

Regular paper glue works. Get help gluing the balloon down smoothly. Have stuff to weight it down.

Make sure not to be sloppy with the glue. Be strategic.

It might show through or crinckle.

Mine was fine until my mom put the piñata in the car and drove around for a day. I think stuff shrunk in the heat and if you look closely you can see wrinkles. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Learn from my mistakes.

You might notice that I accidently ripped her wrist...

I covered it up with a tissue flower.

The back of the balloon I used did not have an image so I made what I had around work.

Had I had more time I would have used bigger images of the sisters.

My mom is annoyed that I used black on the bottom of the piñata.

If you have the opportunity, I suggest drawing out your design on paper or digitally.

We couldn't find Encanto piñatas
until the day before...

I probably spent $16-20 on mine. 🤷🏻‍♀️
