16 | A Terrific First Kiss
As we enter the ballroom with Neil's hand in mine I smile looking around everything and everyone. It looks nothing like it was when I came here with Lee. It's very beautifully decorated.
Obviously, it's Millie's hard work. I'll give it to Lee he has a good taste in literally everything not that I am going to tell him because I don't want to hear him praising himself all over again.
"It looks amazing. I didn't imagine it this way." Neil says slowly.
"I know. See, your money was all worth it." I tease him.
"This is all worth it." He grins at me. "All of what we are doing and what we'll be doing."
I nod in agreement as I look around the room. I love how the lights are illuminating the entire hall beautifully. There are flowers all around giving a romantic vibe. There are floor-to-ceiling windows on one side that gives the outer view.
"Everyone please give it up for the bride and groom, Neil and Avni Khanna."
Everyone starts cheering and clapping as we walk up to the dance floor. Tables are all arranged around the dance floor and I love how every table is set neatly with silverware and floating candles.
I catch the glimpse of the neon sign Youngs and Khannas written in purple cursive letters matching the ballroom theme. I look at it and recall the same thing was done at Aaron's wedding the only difference was there was Prescotts written instead of Khannas.
I almost want to roll my eyes Lee followed the same thing Nora had planned but all of it looks romantic. I am a very romantic person when I want to be and I have always felt flattered when Jason did romantic things for me.
Even though I hate this moment reminds me of him I also love that Neil isn't playing with my feelings here. I can enjoy the romantic vibe without worrying about feelings.
Everyone quits clapping and cheering slowly as the band begins to play. Everyone has their phones out and it's partly because Lee has his bandmates here, people are going to go crazy in the end.
Neil leads us to the middle of the dance floor and he puts his arm around me when we face each other. I look up at him as I place my hand on his shoulder and keep my right hand in his.
He grins at me as we begin to sway to the music and I think about the first we were dancing back in his apartment. I had no idea I'll be here with him in New York and doing my wedding in such a grand way.
"Are you thinking what I am thinking?" He asks slowly.
"How am I supposed to know what you are thinking?" I raise my eyebrows.
He grips my waist as he leans in touching my forehead with his. "I know that you are thinking about our first dance."
I look into his eyes as he whispers fanning his hot breath literally over my lips. I move my hand up to his neck as I lick my lips feeling the ticklishness on them.
"I am," I mumble.
The excitement between our bodies is impossible to dismiss. His grip on my waist makes the desire in me awaken all the time.
Just like that day I am a little careful because I have my heels on but I know I wouldn't fall as he is holding me so safe.
Just like the first time we danced.
Unlike that day, today we are dancing for a valid reason but it's still different and intimate. No one here knows what we are doing or why we are doing it, it's just us and it feels good to know I have a secret safe with someone who I know will keep it safe.
"Remember I said to you I could do much better things to entertain you?" He asks as a smile tugs his lips.
I roll my eyes at him because he is just trying to prove that he is right, that he can entertain me.
"I do," I say. "And you danced with me to entertain me."
"And I also said something to you." He says. "In what ways I will entertain you, remember?"
I look at him and I clearly remember that moment. He said to me entertainment should not always make me go lol, it could also leave me breathless.
"I would love to leave you breathless and let you catch your breath again. In that way, I would want to take your breath away."
I recall his words and just like that day I feel turned on again. When he can have control why can't I?
"I don't remember, I guess." I lie.
He chuckles. "You do, Mrs. Khanna."
I stare at him a little amazed by the title of Mrs. and I gape how this moment would be if we were real. Probably, awkward or annoyed or happy or... whatever!
"I would love to leave you breathless and let you catch your breath again." He says as he looks into my eyes. "In that way, I would want to take your breath away."
I let out a breath as we continue to move our bodies, I look down and the thought crosses my mind if I should just reach up to kiss him. I could easily win this bet and get anything in return.
"I am going to leave you breathless." I hear him whisper in an intense voice.
I look up at him with a frown and my eyes widen a little when his lips come down crashing against mine flipping my whole world in a swift motion.
Fuck!
I should have seen it coming but he took me by surprise. He comes down with so much force that it pulls me back. He tightens his arm around me as he dips me and maintains his lips against mine.
I feel the warmth of his lips against mine as he starts moving his lips. I can feel the urgency in the kiss as he kisses me hard taking my breath away. He tightens his arm around me and I put mine around his neck not bothering about the dip position we are in and not bothering about the people around.
We did it.
This is after all our first proper kiss and damn, it's terrific.
I let out a moan when he tugs my lower lip between his teeth and covers my mouth with his again. I sense the desire all over my body, my neck feels hot and my body aches for him. I know he feels the same just by his way of kissing.
I kiss him back tuning his rhythm forgetting about everything for a moment. I love the feel of his lips and I can feel the heat on the back of his neck just turning me on even more by the fact that he needs me just like I need him.
I have my eyes close and I almost want to shout at him when he pulls away then presses his lips hard against mine in a long kiss and then he presses a soft kiss on my lips before he pulls away and pulls me up with him.
I wish we could kiss more and more and more.
I look at him in disbelief as I try to catch my breath. His lips twitch up as he reaches out and presses his thumb against my lips.
"You are an incredible kisser." He looks into my eyes as a smile tugs his lips obviously happy that he won this bet.
"And you are terrible," I say trying to catch my breath.
"Of course." He laughs slowly. "That is why I left you breathless."
I look at him as I purse my lips and I want to tell him that no he didn't leave me breathless but I can't even speak properly.
And when you can't speak with words you need to speak with actions.
So, I look into his eyes as I put my hand behind his neck then I reach up and press my lips against his. He takes in a sharp breath and we look right in the eye. His soft lips are pressed against mine and I know he wants me to kiss him already.
"Watch me leave you breathless," I say against his lips and I put my hair to the side to cover our faces from everyone before I initiate the kiss.
"Cheers to Mr. and Mrs. Khanna." I hear everyone cheer as we kiss.
I know everyone already saw us kissing like horny teenagers but I definitely don't want them to keep taking our photos. They had enough show though I am glad they took photos.
At least one is going to be out there with the headline of Leo Young's sister... I am always there in the headline referred to as Lee's sister or Rose's best friend.
My breakup was nothing private it was out there for people to laugh at me and then Lee was out there posting an article about how a bitchy best friend Rose was. I still feel satisfied reading all the hate comments she gets on her Instagram posts.
Call me a bitch too, but I can't help it.
I move my hand in his hair as I press a long kiss and pull away wanting to keep something for us in private.
I hear everyone whistling around and I can't help the smile as I look at Neil. He grins at me as he fixes my hair and I reach out to wipe the lipstick from his mouth.
"I am good at entertaining you, ain't I?" He chuckles.
I roll my eyes at him fighting back a smile. "Maybe try harder?"
"I don't mind." He shrugs. "As long as we both enjoy it."
"Oh, you know we do." I sigh, shaking my head.
"How is day one of being Mrs. Khanna?" He raises his eyebrows.
The side of my lips twitch up and I reach up to keep my lips near his ear. "Horny."
He tightens his arm around me and I pull back with a smirk feeling satisfied.
"Do we still have to wait?" I look up as Lee walks to us. "Oh my god, what was that?" He laughs.
Everyone laughs with him and I narrow my eyes at him feeling annoyed that he is going to make fun of us now.
"Lee," I warn as he grabs the microphone.
"Yes?" He asks. "Oh, my sister wants to kiss more." He laughs again.
Neil chuckles as he puts his arm around me.
"I didn't see this coming." He looks at everyone. "Judging by the very short kiss they shared during the ceremony."
"I knew it was a bad idea to let him host it." I shake my head. "Yet I let him because I had no other option."
"People love him." Neil chuckles. "Everyone is enjoying."
"Shouldn't they be heading to the honeymoon, already?" He asks in the microphone and the people shout yes as they laugh.
The interested people are all Alice's friends and a few of Lee's friends.
"Too bad that they should stay longer." He laughs again. "Anyone up to share the experience of their wedding dance?"
"I am sure none of them had hot dance and kiss like my sister and brother-in-law." He glances at us and chuckles.
"Even Aaron was at his best behavior during his wedding." He adds as he looks at Aaron and Nora.
I look at them, Aaron just shakes his head while Nora laughs slowly. He continues entertaining the people and a server walks up to us to give us champagne.
I dance with my father as soon as we are done.
"I am always there for you, just know that." He tells me as we dance. "Even if you are married, I am here."
I look away from him feeling a little emotional. He always treated everyone the same way though Alice is his favorite for obvious reasons. She is the youngest and so much like Neela maa.
"I love you, Dad," I say as I look up at him. "I may be a little bad, I may not meet you all often but I love you all."
"I wish you said that out loud to the family." He smiles.
"I just love you and Neela maa." I roll my eyes. "Others aren't my favorite."
He sighs. "If you don't love them, they love you and that's the whole reason they are here with you today, on your big day."
"Everyone comes out to do celebrations." I shrug.
"You don't get it." He says. "They'll be there for you even in tough times. Let them in."
"I really don't want to talk about this now," I say as we finish the dance.
"Alright." He nods. "Don't ruin your mood now."
I nod and he leans in and kisses my forehead.
Everyone has dinner and Millie lets me know I can go change now. I let Neil know I'll be there for dinner in a few and walk with Millie.
I follow Millie up to the room and I stop in the hallway when I hear Nora and Alice's voices.
"Don't cry." I hear Nora say.
"All my friends made fun of me." She sobs. "Everyone keeps asking why I didn't be the maid of honor and why Lee was there instead of me."
"Oh, Alice," Nora says. "I get it but you should let it go because Avni didn't have an idea you would want to be maid of honor after all the fights you two had."
"It still hurts, Nora." Alice continues. "Forget it. Don't tell anyone about it. I will be down in a few and I promise I won't cry."
"Of course. I'll be waiting for you." Nora says softly.
I stand there as I ball my hand into a fist hating Nora all over again. Alice was never close to me even when we had a good relationship but I have been there for her when she would cry as a child.
Everyone easily replaced her with me, I don't know how the fuck everyone sees but it hurts me to know while I pushed everyone away they let Nora take my place. They should have kept my place.
I remember the time when she got married, everyone was on her side. Everyone saw that I was hating her but nobody saw she was unknowingly making me feel like I was a nobody in the family. Maybe I would have stayed with them if Nora had never come into our lives. She gets well along with everyone and reminds me she is part of this family and I'm not a real one.
Even though none of them know the real reason, they still end up hurting me by taking her side. Whether it was during the bachelorette party when everyone was out there holding her after our cat fight or during the wedding day when her dress went missing.
Everyone thought I took it while it was all the designer's fault who didn't tell Nora before taking it out for a little fitting. Even Neela maa asked me to return it if I had taken but I said her no and she backed off.
Lee and Alice didn't leave, they continuously kept asking me. Aaron got on a phone call with me because he wasn't supposed to see the bride yet. I was mad at them for not believing me and I still remember what a disastrous morning it was when I shouted at them and locked myself in a room.
I meet Nora's gaze as she steps out of the room, she stops looking surprised and she quickly reaches out to close the door so that Alice doesn't see or hear me. I am sure I am glaring at her as I feel my bold boiling.
"You did succeed in replacing me," I say bitterly as I clench my jaw.
"I made my place." She looks at me. "It's you who left."
"Hey," Millie says. "I can't believe I was blabbering for so long thinking you were right behind me."
"Sorry," I say to her.
"It's alright." She smiles. "Do you need a minute?"
"Uh, no. Let's go."
I glance at Nora once before I walk away with Millie with her words still echoing in my ear.
It's you who left.
