Jungkook recently got into a relationship with a man named Lee, they met through the company and Jungkook began to really like him. They went on a few dates and got into a relationship rather quickly.
Out of all the members, the only one who had a bit of an issue with it was Jin. Lee was Jin's age and the hyung felt like Jungkook might not do well in a relationship with someone older like that. Also, knowing the age gap between him and his own maknae, he personally thought Jungkook was too young to be in a relationship with someone five years older than him.
One night they had even gotten into a small scuffle about it.
Jin had brought up again how he thinks Jungkook would be better off with someone also 21, not someone who was 26.
"It's like two different worlds, bunny," Jin said.
"You're 26 and I hang out with you , don't I!?" Jungkook yelled at his hyung in defense. He wished Jin could just be happy for him.
"I'm your hyung, that's extremely different than dating, Kook."
"Whatever," Jungkook stormed off to his room and Jin sighed. He figured he'd just have to see how this plays out. As long as Lee treats him well, I suppose that's all that matters.
The members quickly could tell that Lee didn't treat Jungkook well at all, but Jungkook was too blinded by his feelings to notice it even when his hyungs did.
The maknae would mention small little fights he and Lee would get in, and even show them some text messages to try and get some advice from his older brothers about how to handle certain situations, and the members could tell by the texts that Lee was extremely manipulative.
"Bunny, I don't mean to be rude, I really don't, but Lee is kind of being a dick to you," Yoongi told the youngest one day after reading some of the texts during the fight. Lee had been mad that Jungkook didn't want to hang out one night, but it wasn't that he didn't want to, it's that he couldn't because of work.
"If you actually cared about me you'd be able to find time off work to come see me," Lee had texted.
"I'm sorry. It's just really hard to do that right now with promotions and all," Jungkook had replied.
"Yeah, you better be sorry."
"I'm really sorry."
Jimin came over and chimed in, "You had nothing to even be sorry for. Just tell him to shut up and deal with you being busy."
"I can't talk like that to him!" Jungkook said, surprised his hyung would even suggest that.
"If he's going to be rude to you, be rude back," Taehyung said. He frowned. He hated seeing Jungkook in a relationship with a guy who made him feel like he couldn't be totally honest with how he felt. He started to wonder if Jin was right, maybe it was better for Jungkook not to date an older guy. Taehyung didn't want his maknae being taken advantage of just for being the younger one in the relationship.
"I'm not going to be rude to him," Jungkook pouted. "Just...never mind. I'll figure it out myself." Jungkook shoved his phone back into his pocket and decided to leave his hyungs out of his personal life for now.
Lee decided to come over to the dorm that night, even though Jungkook told him he couldn't. His hyungs weren't exactly on board with that, but Lee showed up anyway.
That was when the others noticed how extremely controlling Lee was over Jungkook. Lee tried controlling his every move, and to their shock and horror, their maknae obeyed. First Lee told Jungkook to hand over his phone so he could go through and check text messages making sure nobody else was talking to him.
"I have nothing to hide from you," Jungkook said as he gave Lee his phone. Namjoon couldn't help but speak up, "What's on his phone is really none of your business."
"Hyung!" Jungkook yelled angrily.
Lee looked to Namjoon, "And what we do in our relationship is none of your business." Lee continued to snoop through the phone.
Not only that, but Lee also made Jungkook practically wait on him hand and foot. Asking for a drink, asking for food, asking for a blanket, asking to wear his clothes. The members were frustrated at this because Jungkook was their maknae and they were always the ones tending to his needs, so they thought Lee shouldn't be treating him like some kind of servant. However, they all kept their mouths shut because they didn't want to cause any more trouble for the two.
Lee overstayed his welcome and left pretty late, he tried kissing Jungkook goodbye but the youngest was embarrassed because they were in front of his hyungs, so he backed away. Lee grabbed Jungkook's wrist and tried pulling him back into a kiss, Jungkook couldn't fight him off, but Hobi did.
"Alright! Bye now!" Hobi said as he gently shoved Lee out the door.
"What the hell was that?" Hobi asked. He was really concerned now. He could tell Jungkook was uncomfortable with what Lee had just done, and he really, really, did not like that.
"Nothing." Jungkook felt his cheeks go red.
"Does he always force you to kiss him when you don't want to?" Taehyung asked, raising an eyebrow at his maknae.
"He doesn't make me do anything." Jungkook kept his gaze low at the floor. Maybe only sometimes.
"You looked pretty uncomfortable there. Please don't ever do anything with him that you feel uncomfortable with. Promise us that," Jin demanded.
"I promise." Jungkook was annoyed and went back to his room. Lee had texted him later saying that he was really mad at him for letting his hyungs be rude and how Jungkook needed to tell them to mind their business and back off their relationship. He then threatened to break up with the maknae if he didn't do what he said.
Although the members wished they had control over Jungkook's love life, they knew they didn't. But they spent a good amount of time continuing to tell the youngest how bad for him Lee was, how manipulative and mean he truly was.
"He's borderline abusive, and you know your hyungs won't tolerate anyone abusing you," Yoongi mentioned.
"Don't say that about him!" Jungkook said defensively. He didn't see Lee as abusive. He just saw him as a guy who he didn't quite meet the expectations of sometimes, which in return made him feel bad and made him apologize for a lot of things.
Jungkook was frustrated. He had really strong feelings for Lee, or at least he assumed he did. He liked talking to the guy, he liked hanging out when Lee was in a good mood. When Lee was in a bad mood, that was another story. Sometimes Lee would grab him and hit him a bit, or force him to kiss him which he wasn't entirely comfortable with. He didn't want to dump the guy, however, he wanted to be better and make Lee like him more. Sometimes he felt he was fighting for Lee's affection when he tried living up to his millions of standards, but still always falling short.
As weeks went on, Jungkook seemed more irritable around everyone. Lee and Jungkook were almost always in some kind of argument, always resulting in Jungkook having to admit blame and then apologize for "being bad." Lee also started getting more aggressive with Jungkook sexually and physically. He started manipulating him into doing things behind closed doors he was extremely uncomfortable with, but Lee would say things like "If you really loved me you would do it," or "I guess you want to break up then?" and Jungkook would panic and feel like if he was going to keep the relationship alive, he'd have no choice but to do what Lee wanted.
Some bruises on Jungkook's neck came to Jimin's attention one day. The maknae had tried hiding them under a turtle neck, but Jimin noticed anyway.
"I see you've taken your relationship a step further?" Jimin asked in a teasing manner and he could see Jungkook got a bit visibly upset. Jin came over and yanked the neck of the shirt down to look and was horrified.
"Why do you have bruises?" Jin asked angrily.
"Hyungiiee," Taehyung chimed in, "His relationship is none of our business, remember?"
"It is when he has bruises," Jin said sternly.
"They're hickeyssss," Yoongi whispered, chuckling.
"Are you all idiots? These aren't hickeys, they're bruises!" Jin yelled.
"It was nothing!" Jungkook yelled in a panic. All of the members started to go into panic mode as they forced Jungkook to show them his neck and they were in fact finger print bruises.
"Did he choke you?" Yoongi asked.
"You naughty boy!" Hobi laughed. He stopped laughing when he looked at Jungkook and saw the hurt behind his eyes. He realized whatever Lee had done to him was something he didn't want done.
"It's nothing. Just leave it alone, please," Jungkook pouted.
"Bunny, has he been hurting you?" Hobi asked, gulping nervously.
"No." Jungkook tried to hide his quivering lips. He felt tears sting his eyes as he didn't want to let them fall. He thought of Lee and all the bad things he'd do. It was just a small fight, he didn't choke me that badly. Just..just a small fight.
"You're lying," Yoongi said, "We know you too well, and we know when you're lying. What did he do to you? Why did he hurt you?"
"It was just a small fight, okay?! Will you all just drop it?!" Jungkook screamed. A tear slipped down his cheek. He felt pressured to tell them about all of the things really going on in his relationship but he was too scared to because he knew they'd go bother Lee, and that meant another scolding or who knows what, for himself.
"A small fight?! A fight...he choked you?! Out of anger?!" Taehyung screamed. "Jungkookie you have to get away from him! You have to dump him!"
"No!" Jungkook balled his hands into fists and stood up. "I love him and he loves me! Okay?! It was just a stupid fight! It was my own fault, I shouldn't have made him mad!"
Jin stepped towards Jungkook and gripped his shoulder lightly, "You can't seriously think he loves you, Kook? Hurting and manipulating you is not love, it's control. I told you! Did I not tell you to not date an older man?! He's taking advantage of and hurting you!"
Jungkook went to angrily storm off down the hallway but Namjoon grabbed his shirt and guided him to sit on the couch. "Not so fast. Has he done other things to you? I mean you two are always fighting, and you can't seriously think you deserved for him to put bruises on you? Like Jin said, that's not love. I mean look at all of us, we all love you and we've never purposely hurt you."
Jungkook rolled his eyes. He didn't understand why his hyungs kept comparing how they loved him to how Lee loved him. It's different.
"Jungkook?" Namjoon asked again, "Has he done other things to you?"
Jungkook stayed silent, he wasn't too sure what to say. His hyungs didn't need all the details.
Hobi spoke up, "You know what he means, like things you don't like doing? Like how he forced you to kiss him before? He doesn't still make you uncomfortable like that, does he?"
"I don't see how that's any of your business." Jungkook folded his arms.
"So he does," Yoongi folded his arms too.
"I didn't say that!" Jungkook cried.
"Well it wasn't a no!" Yoongi cried back.
Jungkook stood up, "It wasn't a yes either! Why can't you all just stay out of my life?!"
"Break up with him! Why are you being so blind, maknae?! He's terrible to you, and for you!" Taehyung was now crying. Oh how his heart broke for his dongsaeng. He knew when Jungkook had feelings, they were intense and strong. It was a blessing but it could also be a curse.
Jungkook was crying quite a lot now, his hyungs were frustrating him. "Don't tell me how to live my life!" he screamed and ran to his room, slamming his door shut and locking it.
The members ignored his outburst, aware that he was just hurting.
Yet, they ended up calling Lee and telling him they knew what he did to Jungkook and the if he didn't start treating him better there would be bigger problems.
Jungkook didn't know his hyungs had called Lee until he met up with him again at his apartment.
"So, your hyungs gave me a rather unpleasant phone call," Lee said angrily. Jungkook gulped. They did what?!
"Apparently you told them about our little fight," Lee pushed Jungkook into the wall. "What the hell did I tell you about telling them our business?"
Jungkook started crying with regret and with fear. "I'm s-sorry I didn't know they'd call you.. I just..Jiminie hyungie found out because of the bruises."
"Oh no, not your poor little bruises," Lee said mockingly. "They think you can't handle a little roughing up? Huh?!"
Jungkook flinched. "I..I don't.." He honestly didn't know what to say. He was mad at his hyungs for calling Lee, but he also felt like he shouldn't have to apologize for their actions. "I don't know why they called you, but that was their own doing. I didn't tell them to call you."
Lee smacked Jungkook across the face and the maknae whimpered. Lee grabbed Jungkook's cheeks and tried to kiss him, but for the first time ever Jungkook actually felt anger towards Lee for having done that, so he pushed him back.
"No," Jungkook said, "Back off. You just smacked me, why would I want to kiss you?"
"Well you love me, don't you?" Lee asked.
Jungkook hesitated as he stared into Lee's eyes. Something felt different. Namjoon's words played through his head. We all love you and have never purposely hurt you.
Jungkook tilted his head, "I guess that depends. Do you love me?"
"Of course," Lee said as he tried kissing Jungkook again but Jungkook pushed him away a second time. "Then why do you hit me? Why do you make me do things I don't want to do, when you know I don't want to do them? You know what I just realized? You're selfish." Jungkook felt like he was having a huge epiphany. He realized Lee didn't act right.
Jungkook saw the anger flash behind Lee's eyes and he knew there wasn't love there, just the demand for control, which is exactly what Jin had tried telling him. I'm an idiot.
Lee started screaming at him about how he was being disrespectful and disobedient. How he should feel ashamed for making him so angry, etc. Jungkook didn't care to hear it and went to walk out the door. "You know what, Lee? My hyungies were right the whole time but I was too stubborn to listen. You're nothing but a manipulative asshole and I'm done."
As Jungkook went to walk out the door, Lee grabbed him and threw him onto the floor. "Get off me!" Jungkook screamed.
"Please don't leave, I'm sorry," Lee pleaded as he pinned Jungkook down. He leaned over and tried kissing him again.
"Stop it!" Jungkook yelled as he fought his way out from underneath Lee. Lee tried grabbing at Jungkook's pants but the youngest screamed and kicked at him, "Leave me alone! I said I'm done! I'm not letting you use me, for anything, anymore! I'm sick of you doing things to me that I hate, I'm sick of you even touching me! Go find someone else to take advantage of and hurt. Or better yet, get some goddamn help!"
Jungkook was able to get out of Lee's grip and run out the door. Lee screamed after him and then tried calling and texting him a million times with a bunch of threatening texts about how he was going to hurt himself if Jungkook left, but the singer knew he was bluffing.
He blocked Lee's number.
He made it home and his eyes were still blood shot and swollen from crying.
Hobi and Jimin shot up off the couch and ran to him.
"Oh no...tears..why tears...?" Jimin asked nervously.
Jungkook broke down and sobbed as Hobi grabbed him and pulled him into a tight hug. The maknae's cries summoned the rest of the members who came in and were extremely worried and wanting to know what happened.
"Which one should I grab? A gun, or a knife?" Taehyung asked while frowning. "If he hurt you again, I'm showing no mercy this time!"
"Hyungs...we...I...it's over," Jungkook cried. Although he knew Lee was bad for him, it was still hard to let go. He couldn't push feelings aside and ignore them like some other people could. He always felt everything all at once. He was still sad that the relationship hadn't worked out.
The rest of the members shouted with joy, much to Jungkook's further annoyance.
"Aww it's okay, there will be other people out there. Other better people. You'll find Mr.Right one day, or Mrs.Right, I mean it's up to you but you know what I'm trying to say," Namjoon told him.
Hobi guided the maknae to the couch and held him, asking him to explain what happened. Jungkook first scolded them for making the phone call to Lee, but then told them he was somewhat grateful for it because the fight that resulted from it finally made him see Lee's true colors.
They all cuddled up together and continued to reassure Jungkook that this was for the best. Yoongi couldn't stop smiling.
"What?" Jungkook asked.
"I thought of something I've been dying to say since this whole thing started," Yoongi chuckled.
"And what would that be, hyung?"
Yoongi stood up and raised his arms high in the air.
"I would just like to say, maknae, that hyungs told you so!" He dove down and started tickling Jungkook to make him feel better, and soon the maknae was giggling instead of crying.
Jungkook understood why his hyungs kept contrasting themselves to Lee.
Because this was love.
