16.

The conversation with my parents is never ending, specifically with my mother. Of course, the woman has a million and one questions. They range from why I didn't tell her I was dating the most powerful man in the world to when we were going to give her grandkids. My father isn't on my side much, either. He decides that he's going to cosign with my mom and I could die right here and now. Aren't dads supposed to want to kill their daughter's boyfriends? I guess that isn't the case when the boyfriend in question is the damn president.

Cadence finally comes to save the day, but even she isn't spared from my mother's questioning. She's getting it almost as bad as me, seeing as how she's with Taehyung more than I am. My mom grills her, asking why Cadence didn't hook us up sooner to trying to get her to convince the man to marry me and give me children. My dad-the traitor- seems to enjoy us being interrogated as he smirks every so often.

"Mom, just drop it. Please." I beg, pushing my head into my hands.

"But this is so exciting!" She panders. "My sweet girl, dating the president; anyone in their right mind would be just as excited as I am!"

"He's just a normal man, mom." I look over to my dad for help, hoping he'll finally help me out of this situation. When he stares back at me blankly, I contain the urge to roll my eyes as I continue. "He's a normal man. He just has an extraordinary job."

"Cadence, sweetie." My mom starts, turning her attention back to my best friend. "Tell me, does President Kim talk about her alot while she's away from him?"

"Mom!"

Cadence chuckles nervously. "Just about as much as anyone else who's dating."

"So that's a yes." My mother squeals in excitement. "This is great. You haven't dated in a while."

"You have to go home now. Thanks for visiting." I stand and grab one of my parent's arms each, pulling them up from the couch. "I love you, and I'll introduce you to him soon."

For the first time in about an hour and a half, my dad isn't being a dick and stands when I pull him up. My mother-with her hard-headed ass- is heavier than she looks and stays firmly planted.

"I'm sorry, honey. I'll leave it be." I loosen my grip as my sign of acknowledging her apology. "I'm just excited is all. I want grandkids, and neither you nor Mr. President Kim are getting any younger."

"Lia," My dad gets my mom's attention, shaking his head. "Priya has said all she's needed to. Cadence is here. She's good and safe, so we can go."

'Thank you.' I mouth to my dad and he sends me a wink.

"Okay." My mom sighs, but nods. She then focuses on me. "Do you want to come stay with us for a while?"

"So you can question the hell out of me more than what you have? No thanks." I quickly shoot down the offer. "Plus I'm too scared to go outside. Cadence already said secret service is scattered around the area for my safety anyway, so I'll be okay."

"Okay." My mother opens her arms and I find myself falling into her embrace. "If anything at all happens, you better call us. You know I never leave without my pistol."

"Get this crazy woman out of my house." I laugh, kissing her cheek, then hugging my dad. "And make sure she doesn't have bullets within arms reach."

"He hid them." She rolls her eyes.

"And for good reason, Lia." My dad laughs along with me. "We'll get out of your hair."

Finally, my parents head toward the door and exit my home. I lock the door behind them and exhale a huge breath I didn't know I was holding. I hear Cadence doing the same and she falls backward into the couch.

"Your mom." She whines.

"My mom." I agree, finding myself a home next to her. "I'm surprised my dad didn't immediately side with me on this."

Cadence shrugs. "You're dating a powerful man. He was just being as nosey as your mom, just with less words."

"Cay, what the hell is my life right now?" I start to spill. "He was only here for a weekend. 3 damn days, and now my face is plastered all over the news."

She sighs, and I can tell she's trying to internally wrap her head around the situation as well. "This has never happened to him before, and I'm honestly surprised its happened now."

"Remember when I told you how he picked me up that one day alone and was out in broad daylight?"

"Oh shit!" She exclaims. "Didn't you first start dating at that point? Are those the pictures that were leaked!?"

"Yeah, we were 2 months into dating. But no, it wasn't from then. I searched everywhere online to see if those were pictures from that day, but thankfully it wasn't. So at least this isn't something that had been brewing and could've potentially been out already."

"Still, Pri. It's unfair to you both."

"Hell, what can we do?" I shrug, taking in another deep breath. My chest could cave in at this second. "He's the president. It was only a matter of time before this would happen. Is he okay?"

"That still doesn't make this situation okay. And he's alright. He's losing his mind being worried sick about you, though."

My chest gets even tighter at her words. Taehyung has got so much to lose- even with something as ordinary as dating-, yet he's more concerned about me. This man means so much to me, and I would do anything to protect him.

"Call him for me."

Cadence wastes no time as she pulls out her phone and fumbles with it, until the phone begins to ring aloud. After the second ring, it stops and his voice comes through the speaker.

"Cadence, how is Priya? You're with her, right?"

Cadence nods, even though he can't see her. "I am. She wanted me to call you for her."

"Is she nearby? Can I talk to her?"

My heart flutters. Since being on the phone, this man has only asked about me and he's only been on the phone for less than 30 seconds.

"Yeah." Cadence hands me her phone and stands. "I'm going to go get my other phone that's in my car and check on the kids. Give me 5?"

"Thank you." I tell her, now focusing on the phone that's now in my hand. "Hi, Taehyung."

"Are you okay, babe?" He asks, concern lacing his voice.

"I'm fine. Are you okay?" I ask him, wanting to show him that I'm just as concerned for him. "This is alot on you."

"I'm okay, knowing that you're alright." I can't help the small smile the graces my lips. "There will be a lot to discuss tomorrow. At any time, if you feel like it's too much, let me know and we'll stop."

He cares for me so much; I could cry. "We'll get through it together. Thank you so much for the constant concern. I really do appreciate that."

"It's the least I can do."

"Can I stay the night with you?" I blurt out. "I know you just left and everything, but I really need you by my side right now."

"And I could use you by mine, as well. Ride with Cadence? I have a meeting in about an hour and a half, and she was going to come back within the hour to prepare things for tomorrow's emergency meeting with the publicist."

"I can do that." I say. "What can I do? Everyone is working so hard. I feel like I need to do something."

"Pack a suitcase, and maybe even an extra bag." I can make out distinct voices in the background, but I can't tell what they're saying. That's all I hear, aside from Taehyung humming in response. He answers them back, causing me to furrow my eyebrows. "Hm, that's weird. Okay, thank you. I'll handle that shortly."

"Is everything good?" I ask.

"I'm not sure, actually." He chuckles lightly and I feel some of the tension leaving my body at the sound. "Something came up with one of the house reps not being able to attend the meeting and they had to cancel it on short notice. He was the one conducting the meeting."

"Well damn."

"Yeah, and I'm not very happy with that. I'll handle them in a moment. But after assisting Cadence with things for tomorrow, I have an open evening today."

I smile brightly. "It would seem so. Today has seemed so long, and it's only 2pm. I can't wait to see you again so soon."

"I can't wait." I can hear the excitement in his voice. "I'll make sure you're taken care of when you get here, because I probably won't be available until about 4pm."

"That is totally fine." Cadence comes through the door, capturing my attention. "Cay, I'm riding with you. I'm staying the night with Taehyung."

"Pack a bag." She says, already heading to the closet in my living room where I keep my luggage. "A big one."

"She knows the drill." Taehyung laughs on the other line. "I'll see you soon, baby. Be safe on the way here."

"I will. Bye."

Cadence comes and retrieves her phone, trading it for my suitcase. "Well, let's get it going, Pri. I don't think you'll be home for a while."
