Ch 1 -- Determination

A girl with blonde hair walked into the cafeteria and sat at a loud table full of girls.

Almost instantly after sitting down, she sighed and placed her head on the table in frustration, gaining the attention of two of the girls on the table.

"Hey, Lu-chan, you okay?" a petite girl with curly blue hair asked the blonde, elbows propped up on the table.

"Yeah, are you okay Lucy-san?" another girl with blue hair asked. She sat next to the shorter girl and had abandoned the one sided conversation she was having with a particular white-haired girl.

The blonde looked up and smiled. "Don't worry, Levy-chan, Juvia, I'm fine. Just a bit angry."

"Angry? Why?" a redhead who sat next to the blonde joined in, obviously now interested.

She sighed again. "You guys remember Coco?"

"Coco?" Juvia said in confusion.

"Oh! That girl who loved to run?" Levy asked, pretty confident that she was correct.

"Yeah, her."

"Isn't she a grade below us?" The redhead spoke up, trying to remember the brown-haired girl.

"Yeah, she is." Lucy said, propping her elbows onto the table like her friend did.

"So, what about her?" Juvia asked.

"You guys know Natsu Dragneel, right?"

"I know Natsu!" a new voice spoke up.

The girls turned their heads to face Lisanna, the girl with the white hair and also the girl that Juvia left the conversation with.

Levy secretly rolled her eyes behind Juvia so Lisanna couldn't see.

"Oh yeah," Levy began, acting dumb, "weren't you guys childhood friends?" she already knew the answer to the question.

"Yeah, we were! Did I ever tell you guys about the time we found a cat that was dropped in blue paint?" she smiled, oblivious to the bored expressions that were now on the other girls.

"Yeah..." Levy said. "you told us yesterday."

"Did I?" Lisanna pretended to act stupid, or not, and smiled. "Oh and hey, did-"

She was interrupted by a loud voice calling her name. The girls turned their heads to see Mirajane, the genius teacher. She was only a year older than Lisanna but her smarts allowed her to complete high school and college when she was sixteen.

"Mira-nee!" Lisanna cried out happily, always joyful to see her older sister.

"Lisanna." The white-haired woman said sternly. "Please come to my office now. We have things to talk about."

Lisanna obviously did not notice the deadly aura that was being emitted from her older sister and got up immediately to follow her.

She waved goodbye to the other girls who had stayed quiet during the whole ordeal.

"So, Lucy," Erza started the conversation again, picking up where they left off. "What were you saying about Natsu?"

Lucy tensed up by the sound of his name.

"Lu-chan?" Levy spoke softly, noticing her friend's slight change in behavior. "What happened?"

"Coco fell in love with Natsu." Lucy said bluntly.

Juvia gasped. "Coco? With Natsu? Unbelievable.."

"Yeah, at first I couldn't believe it either but she told me it was true and that she was going to confess." Lucy started to explain.

"Did she confess?" Levy asked.

"Yeah, yesterday she told him her feelings and then she said that he took her to a cafe."

"A cafe? But why? He couldn't possibly be in love with her too, could he?" Erza said, trying to piece together the puzzle pieces.

"They went and talked, mostly Coco did the talking though, and then another girl walked in and caught Natsu's attention. Coco didn't know the girl or if Natsu knew the girl but he walked up to her and started making out. In front of her."

"Oh my god." Juvia said, basically summing up what all the girls were feeling.

Erza stood up from her seat, almost toppling it over. "Where's that bastard?! He needs a beating!"

"Erza-san, calm down!" Juvia exclaimed.

"Erza, don't worry, I'll make him pay." Lucy said with her fists clenched under the table.

The redhead trusted the words of the blonde and sat down, although a deathly aura was still surrounding her.

"How could he? Poor Coco." Levy whispered, feeling bad for the heartbroken girl.

--

A boy with spiky pink hair walked into the cafeteria and sat down at a table with a bunch of guys.

"Hey Natsu," a boy with raven hair greeted, the first one to notice his friend's presence.

"Ugh!" he let out a huge groan as he slammed his head onto the table in frustration.

"What's wrong, Salamander, fry your brain again?" Another boy with long hair in a ponytail said, bored and sarcastic.

"No, I did not fry my brain, Gajeel." He answered.

"Then what happened?" the first boy asked.

"Gajeel, Gray, you remember Sting right?" The spiky haired boy said.

"Sting..." Gajeel said, trying to remember the guy.

"The dude who's always following you around like a lost puppy?" Gray asked.

"Oh, that guy with Reyos?" Gajeel asked, making an inference.

"Reyos?" Gray questioned.

"Rogue" he said to clear it up.

"Oh," Gray said, then turned to Natsu again. "So what were you saying about Sting?"

"You guys know Lucy Heartfilia, correct?"

"Lucy? I know Lucy!" a new voice spoke up and before the boys turned their heads, they already knew who it was.

It was Loke, the Lucy fanboy.

"Yes, Loke," Gray spoke in an annoyed voice, "we know you know Lucy."

"Really?" he said, not noticing the annoyance of Gray. "Did I tell you guys about the time when Lucy saved me from-"

"Yeah, man, you told us. And don't you have to go to a club meeting for the Twelve Zodiacs?" Gajeel said, saving the boys from the storytelling Loke.

"Oh yeah!" he exclaimed, jumping from his seat, "I almost forgot! Thanks for reminding me Gajeel!" he yelled, waving as he ran off to his club meeting.

"You guys okay? You look so down." a new voice said but it was a comforting one.

"Hey, Jellal," Natsu greeted, smiling and gesturing the tattooed boy over.

"So what happened?" he asked again, conscious to the fact that something was wrong.

"Well Natsu here was talking about something with Sting and Ms. Popular, Lucy Heartfilia." Gray explained, edging Natsu to finish the conversation as well.

"Interesting. So what did happen, Natsu?" Jellal asked, interested in the current topic.

"Sting has a crush on Lucy. Like, a big one." Natsu finally said.

Gajeel almost spit out his water all over the table.

Gray chocked on his food and Jellal sat there normally, like nothing ever happened.

"Sting fell for bunny girl?" Gajeel exclaimed, after getting a hold of himself.

"Bunny girl?" a confused Natsu gave Gajeel a look of suspicion.

"I don't know. She reminds me of a bunny that I found when I was a kid."

"What happened to it?" Jellal asked.

"It died."

Everyone was silent. "Well, that was quite blunt, wasn't it, Gajeel?" Jellal said, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Ugh, you guys keep changing the subject. So, what happened to Sting, Natsu?" Gray brought up once again.

"Lucy broke his heart after he confessed." Natsu answered, his fists clenching in anger.

"How?" Gajeel wondered aloud.

"She completely ignored him and then told him to follow her, than ditched him with the bill of an expensive restaurant." Natsu told him.

"This is why girls are a waste of time." Gajeel said.

"That's messed up." Gray exclaimed, crossing his arms and frowning in disappointment.

"I thought that Lucy would be a better person judging on how Loke always fawns over her." Jellal frowned, not happy that his calculations were wrong.

"I'm so going to make her pay." Natsu growled, a dangerous aura surrounding him. "No one hurts my friends."
