Chapter 4

"The movie was great." They came out of the hall listening to Khushi praising the movie and her favorite actor. "Salmanji was looking so handsome and dashing."

"Yap. But the movie is over. You can stop admiring him now." Arnav was green with envy and requested conclusively annoyed. She frowned and glared at him muttering under her breath. "Laad Governor!"

She then devoted her eyes to NK who was stealing glances at Lavanya secretly. Khushi noticed that he was somehow mortified and didn't want to face her.

"Nanheji, where are you lost?" She had an idea that it must be something with Lavanya. But what did happen inside?

'Hey Devi Maiya, looks like Nanheji has surely done something terrible. If only, I wouldn't have been lost in the movie and this Laad Governor.' She cursed herself for not having paid them even a little bit attention.

"Nowhere...! I'm here...only..." He replied hesitantly with a fake yet wide smile set up. But that led her suspicion just to increase more.

Khushi walked tensed, here and there into her room leading rounds and thinking about her next step to attach them to each other. But all her efforts of today were useless as in the end everything went wrong. So she has to come up with a great idea now. But what can it be? She was so lost in her thoughts but was interrupted when she felt him. He stood behind, coming out of the washroom after changing and watched his restless wife with a frowned expression. And after she turned, he moved closer and cupped her face with one hand. "What happened? Why are you worried?"

"No, nothing." She replied bit absent-minded. "Then why is it red?" He whispered in her ears in a husky sound. She looked at him confusingly and just as she understood the meaning of his smirk he rubbed his finger against the form between her eyes and lips. "Your nose!"

She looked at him with a gloomy expression and pushed him lightly. "Arnavji, can you ever be serious?" She pouted and sat down on the ledge of their room at the poolside.

He looked at her with raised brows and a grin on his face. "Okay, I'm serious. What's bothering you?" He went and joined her. But then he remembered their conversation about their past and he got a slap from Khushi when he wanted to kiss her. "Don't tell me that seeing Lavanya you again reminded of that Bankelal." He knew there was no Bankelal but still said to divert her.

"Bankelal? Who?" She questioned baffling and he smirked at her with raised brows. Then she recollected the memories. "Ah,...THAT Bankelal...My Bankelal." She responded hesitantly with a smile. But as soon as she said that he gripped her elbow and pulled her closer with an agony in his eyes. "No, not anymore. Your ARNAV! You are only mine, understood?"

Her smile faded away and her mien turned grave. "Arnavji, I...I'm only yours!" Her face slowly twirled elated and he tugged the strands of her hairs behind, that were waving due to the wind and they both shared an eye-lock. She smiled pleasing and embraced him. "Okay, now tell me, why were you so tensed?" He inquired without breaking the hug and patted her back.

"Actually...Arnavji, did you notice something at Nanheji today?" She broke their bear hug and wondered looking into his eyes. "I have to say..he was mostly quiet on the way back home...and actually dinner also." He acknowledged slowly thinking back.

"Exactly! And Nanheji doesn't stay silent for much time. I know he was embarrassed. But don't why." She recalled everything in her mind to find a clue but was left unsuccessful.

"Maybe because of that pop corn incident." He remembered the thing he got there.

"Pop corn incident?" She asking with a wondering look. "NK offered her pop corns and she was about to take them but the box fell off his hands."

"Dug a whole mountain and found a dead rat. Thank you so much Devi Maiya. I really thought he has ruined everything." She took a long sigh of relief and thanked her Devi Maiya with folded hands. "So you were all tensed because of him?" He interrogated surprised.

"Why shouldn't I? I have taken the responsibility for their marriage." She claimed gloriously.

"Marriage?" He asked seriously. This girl is already dreaming of their conjugal relation.

"Yes. And for that I have to think of great plan for tomorrow." She jumped off pondering. He stood up with a grin and hugged her from behind. "Mrs. Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada, don't trouble your petite brain. I have something in my mind!"

"But didn't you want to stay out of this?" She giggled very quiet. "Yesterday I allowed you to do this only for your happiness. So I think I can help you inactively, just you don't worry so much."

She promptly turned in his arms and kissed him on the cheek. "Arnavji, you are the best! I love you." Another kiss was placed on his other cheek. "...damn it!" She added cheerfully.

He picked her up in his arms and moved into the room. "I love you too." He exclaimed and kissed her forehead. "And don't think I forgot about that dress. I just have an important meeting tomorrow." He winked putting her on the bed. She hit him playfully on the chest and they slept peaceful in each others arms.

"Chamkili, what are you doing?" Lavanya came in the kitchen and saw a book there. "I mean is this a recipe book?"

"Yes, Lavanyaji. I am cooking something special today, or better say I am trying."

"But as far as I know you can cook everything." Lavanya asked wondering. "But Indian food only."

Khushi pouted and started going through the book again. "You could've asked me for help."

"No Lavanyaji, you are a guest. And we don't let our guests do any house work." She smiled at her but Lavanya's face expressed a grief. "Guest? I thought you consider me as a family member but..."

"No Lavanyaji, I didn't mean that. You are a family member for all us." She tried to console her. "Then let me help you." Lavanya instantly craved and Khushi smiled. "Okay, fine."

They both cooked a lot of meals for lunch and everybody wondered what was so special today.

"Wow Khushiji, this much food. May I ask what's so special today?" Anjali inquired sitting down and sniffing the fragrance of the dishes. "Erm...nothing Di...just Valentine's day's meal for you all in advance." That lover's day tomorrow just comes right actually. She just hoped her and Arnavji's plan will work and they both will succeed in amalgamating them.

"Oh ho, so that you and Chote can spend your day together." Anjali's teasing period started and just when she was ready to say again something by seeing Khushi blushing Lavanya took the word. "Oh ya Chamkili, it's Valentine's day tomorrow. I hope you have planned something special for ASR. After all it's your first Valentine as a couple." Lavanya joined Anjali and they both sneered.

"I am sure that Arnav bitwa and Phati Sari aren't going to miss that chancwa. Their Honeymoonwa isn't over yet, so tomorrow's day must be like winning a lotterywa for them." Mamiji also didn't left the opportunity to pull her leg. Khushi went red like a tomato and served Nani. But to stop their teasing she tried to refract them when she finally remembered NK. "Di, where's Nanheji?"

"He must be in his room." Khushi told HP to to get him down for lunch. "Hari Prakashji, please call Nanheji, tell him lunch is ready."

NK came down and sat down quietly just with a smile. "Khushiji, this food..." Like the others he was also surprised. "Lavanyaji and I have made all this. But almost she only, because I just can cook Indian food only. And Lavanyaji can cook not just Indian but even Italian, Greek, Chinese and much more." Lavanya gazed at her with a blurring face and then smiled. "C'mon Chamkili, don't praise my cooking so much. It's not better than you. You are a fantastic cook."

NK smiled and took a bite. "How's it?" Khushi asked with a glory in her eyes.

"Mmm...it's delicious." He groaned gesturing with his hand. "Not to me, say this to Lavanyaji. She cooked this dish."

NK looked over to her. "It's...it's very tasty." He smiled tentatively finally facing her. "Thank you, NK." She showed appreciation with a leer. Khushi was jumping inside. That was her long way to make him talk to her again, even if that was just one-sided and Lavanya was unaware of that.

In the evening when all were sitting in the hall Khushi went up to NK who was watching TV with Aarav.

"Aarav beta, you haven't done your homework yet na? Go and do them with your Buaji." She told him calmly and he followed his mother's words.

"Nanheji, Lavanyaji helped you in getting such a beautiful Sherwani. Don't you think you should thank her in a special way?" She asked him directly without taking the matter here and there.

"Yeah Khushiji, but how?" He asked agonizing his brain for an idea. "Simple. Take her out for a formal dinner tomorrow."

"You mean a date?" He interrogated with a panic expression. "No, Nanheji, not a date...just a formal dinner with a friend. You both are friends, aren't you?"

"Yes, but..." He thought about how Lavanya would react at him asking her for a date. "No but! Lavanyaji is very nice. He helped you and I insist that you thank her for that."

"But Khushiji, can't I thank her with words only?" His anxiety took over his bit feelings.

"No Nanheji, words aren't enough for that." She declared in a commanding tone. But NK gulped thinking that first just pop corns felt off his hands in the cinema. What will he be blabbering while asking her for a date and what will his nervousness result fortiori.
