Yuri has only cried once in the past fifteen years.

He does not count the time he was a baby because he had no control over that tears  in that time.

When Yuri was a young boy, his father would beat him any time he shed a tear.

With every beating, his father would repeat the same thing "men don't cry. Are you a man or not?"

If Yuri cried during the beating, his father would beat him harder til he was numb.

Yuri learned as a young boy that showing emotion- espionage tears- was a weakness that had to be destroyed.

And destroy it he did; but in the process, he destroyed his soul.
