🌼 Chapter 12 🌼
Hi. I don't want to seem mean but like, do y'all think you could comment a tad more? Maybe? It's a way for me to know that people are reading and have stuff to say about what I write. I'm sorry.
Love,
Starii🌼
Dear Alex,
I'm not sure if I should address this to you or your friends, so I'm going to spectate it into different parts.
I must say, your friends seem quite nice, I hope I get to meet them in person at some point.
I think I'll mainly dedicate this letter to Catherine and Lafayette's questions if you don't mind.
To Cathy: Male. It's complicated but I don't think so. John Laurens. Petalbasket. Your choice. Painting, being outside. My father, the stupid hierarchy of our society. Alex.
To Lafayette:
1. I'm not a shroom, no. I think y'all are great and it's stupid that everyone's so judgmental.
2. I'm honestly not sure, we haven't fully sorted that out yet.
3. My father doesn't really want to send me to war. I could join if I insisted but from what I've heard there's no certainty that I'll even be with you guys, so why take the chance?
With love and mild appreciation respectively,
John Laurens.
—~•~—
My dearest Laurens,
Cathy and Laf have decided you're an ok faerie and they approve of your existence, but they also incessantly tease me about my 'boyfriend'. In return I've revoked their letter privileges so it's just me now.
Here's the interesting thing: There are gay couples parading their gayness near the officers, but said officers don't seem to care.
I guess shrooms are already disgraceful, so it no longer matters to anyone.
You asked me to keep you posted on the war and I shall do just that: the humans have officially started a war, so there's no longer any of that tension in the air, now there's another tension because we're all probably going to die by the end of this. They attacked another one of our camps and killed quite a lot of men, though most soldiers could evacuate before they were killed.
So yeah, our camp hasn't been attacked yet and we're all waiting anxiously for orders.
Everything's a mess, I wish you were here. That would make this whole ordeal easier.
Yours truly,
Alexander Hamilton

Dear Alex,
I could come if you want, I was actually thinking about it earlier.
I talked to my father, he said he'd allow it and I'm sure I could use his (and therefore kinda my) status to get into your team or whatever it is.
I want to protect you Alex, and I know you're fine on your own but I want to be part of all the stupid and reckless stuff you're undoubtedly going to do.
With love,
John Laurens
—~•~—
My dearest, Laurens,
Please don't come join us, I couldn't bear to know that I'm the reason you're in danger if you did join.
Sorry if this letter is a bit rushed, I have to soon.
Yours truly,
Alexander Hamilton
—~•~—
Dear Alex,
The village had its first attack yesterday, but I assume you've heard about that by now.
Thankfully my house wasn't hit but many other buildings were so Henry, Martha and I have been going around trying to help. We got Father's approval (I'm not sure how) and can now bring people who's homes were destroyed to stay with us until they find other places to go.
It was pretty terrifying to hear the guns and canons going off, but I just kept reminding myself that there are people who have to face that a lot more. Most notably you.
I think I've met Cathy's sister: short brown hair, wide hazel eyes, a few freckles, a few missing teeth, shroom? Is that her? She said her name was Thalia Lark and her sister was in the war. I don't know many female Larks who just happen to be shrooms that are in the war.
This information is probably of no use to you but I found it interesting.
With love,
John Laurens
—~•~—
My dearest Laurens,
I asked Cathy about it, she said that the Thalia you met was probably her sister.
I'm so glad you and your family weren't hurt in the attack. Yes, I had heard about it prior, but not in enough time to get a letter to you, sorry.
It's a wonder that your father agreed to let you help and it's great for all of you because your house is way too big to just be five people and some staff.
But can we discuss something other then the war? How's James doing? Have you met any nice faeries? I want to know these things.
Yours truly,
Alexander Hamilton
—~•~—
Dear Alex,
James is doing well, just being his 5-year-old self. You say that as if you're referring to me finding a partner. I have not. I love you. End of story.
My life has been very dull without you, if you don't take the bombings and war and destruction into account.
But you said you don't want to talk about that so we won't, I'll tell you about any other things that pass through my head.
We got a new horse the other day, a beautiful white stallion with a long mane. He's fast, sturdy and easy-going, so I've decided to claim him as my own. My siblings all hav Ed their horses anyways.
I don't know if you ever met the horses. Martha has a sleek bai mare with a fiery temper. Henry has a fast black cob with deep brown eyes. James is to small for horse-riding so he has a pony. It's a pinto and probably the sweetest animal to roam this planet. Mary can't even ride a pony yet but when she can she'll be able to take James's because he'll be riding horses.
With love,
John Laurens
—~•~—
My dearest, Laurens,
You best expect me to want a full introduction to these horses when I get back. I would also like to ride one, if that's an option.
Cathy and Laf keep whining about not being able to write to you so I let them write in this letter, I hope you don't mind.
.
Hello! It's Cathy. I hear you've met my sister. She's a bit annoying but generally pretty likable and I do care for her quite a bit so I'd you touch a hair on her head in an evil way I'm going to find you and forcefully place a knife in your throat, got it?
Anyways, your answers to my questions were reasonable and I have decided that I think you're ok. I do expect the right to see you in person though. Also I've been stealing some your letters and reading them while Alex isn't looking, so it's safe to judge that you have quite a nice relationship with him.
Adieu,
Catherine.
.
Et oui oui mon ami je m'appelle Lafayette. Bonjour.
Cathy told me she wasn't taking the letters, just so you know I've got nothing to do with it. I do not have much to actually say I just wanted you to appreciate my existence.
Goodbye.
