The next day was very stressful. Victor had disappeared and didn't answer his phone. Not even Goldman or Mills know where he is. I tried tracking him, but I can't pick out the scent anywhere. And he wasn't the only one. According to the producer lady, Gavin acted strangely after I left. She said it was like he couldn't control his evol. And to be honest I couldn't pick his scent either. As for Kiro, after the commotion of his fans, he declared retirement. This all looked troublesome, but I came to finally realize what was going on. Everything was connected to one word, Evol.

I also figured out why. And it all started seventeen years ago. When Black Swan kidnapped children for experiments. The thing is, they didn't pick just any kids, but ones with a possible chance to have an evol. They were trying to create a "Queen" which would give or boost evol. But it seems it requires a person with a fitting gene. And back then there was one, a little girl. However, some children tried to escape, which caused trauma to that girl, in which she lost her memories back then, including that she has an evol and so the power of the Queen vanished. Until now. Black Swan found the one, with the Queen gene and has tried to awaken it, by causing life-threatening situations. Meaning, the Producer lady is the "Queen". But what I'm mostly concerned about is what Black Swan is up to now. So far it seems the wave I felt back then was the Queen's power, boosting everyone's evol. But it seems to me that there's still something else. From what I learned from Gavin's brother Shawn, Black Swan was also involved in causing the internet server outage. What for?

I was walking in the city thinking of possible answers. So far it seems there have been more strange incidents, which could or couldn't be involved without of control evol. I know so because I helped some bystanders a few times. Like I said, stressful.

I soon arrived at the park, where I found a producer lady with her neighbor Professor Lucien. If I remember correctly he is Evolver too, but I'm surprised that his evol hasn't gone out of control. Or maybe he has learned to control it already.

Before I knew it, the Producer lady had already noticed me.

"Miss Darens!"

I walked to them as I noticed a small bandage on her knee.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Another incident which could be an evol out of control," Lucien explained. "It's alright now."

Normally I would smile and thank him, but for some reason, I felt uneasy with him. I wasn't sure why, but something inside me said, don't trust him. The last time I met him in the hospital when he came to visit the produce lady, I didn't have any of that. But why now? Sure he gave me this mysterious feeling, but it feels more threatening to me.

"What are you doing here anyway?" I asked.

"I was going to look if Lucien was okay and I thought to look more into this...."

"Because you are the Queen." I figured. The producer lady looked surprised before looking a bit concerned. I sighed before I continued. "Whatever it is, count me in."

"Really?"

"I'm not Evolver, so I could help out if Black Swan appears. And I want to solve this as much as you."

"But this could be more dangerous," Lucien said to me. "Why do you want to get involved with this?"

"I told you already, professor. I have faced worse than this." I reminded him. I wasn't sure, was either concerned about me or if he wanted to get rid of me. And if so, why?

We all three worked in Lucien's office at Loveland University. We mostly first studied the location of incidents, until we figured that most of them are in three locations close to one another. After also checking frequency results it was clear to say it's electromagnetic waves. That would explain the server outage and other incidents the producer lady told us. Issues with X-rays in Hospitals, elevators going out of control, and migratory birds coming or going out of natural schedule. It all would make sense. And as I remembered correctly, the queen's power felt like some sort of wave. This means there must be a transmitter that causes evols to go out of control while causing outages and other issues.

At one point, Lucien gave his pen to the producer lady. He said it has been with him as a lucky charm, which is why he wants her to have it. She, of course, tried to refuse, because it's precious to him, but he gave it to her because the name in the pen is Iridescent which also means Rainbow-colored and that she is like a rainbow. This however made me realize something.

As we were heading out, I approached Lucien.

"Professor..."

"yes, miss Darens?"

"Can I ask you something?"

"What is it?"

"Are you... color-blind?"

Lucien was surprised by my question. Luckily, the producer lady didn't hear us, but I could tell she doesn't know it yet. Lucien sighs and looks at me concernedly.

"How did you figure it out?"

"There's a family friend, who is color-blind. He got it before I was born, but my dad told me how he got it. He was a teen when there was an explosion, which caused him to become color-blind. Everything he saw was black, grey, and white." I told.

"What happened to him?" Lucien asked.

"Since we have a big house, he lives there with his wife. From what I was told, it wasn't easy for him, but he has said to me, if it weren't for my parents, he would have lost hope. He of course is still color-blind, but he is happy." I think I saw him smile.

"It sounds like your parents work for charity," Lucien commented.

"It's actually more than a charity..." I admitted. I could reveal much of my parent's true job.

Since there were three locations, I decided to check one by myself, while the Producer lady and Lucien looked at the other one. The third one will be best left out in case Black Swan appears and we won't raise suspicion. Mine was located in a storage building. I was in my power form just in case. It would make sense to hide something here. I figured that out when I sensed Black Swan members on a certain floor. So, I had no choice but to go through the air vent. Luckily the vents were bigger to fit a bulky guy. I tried to move slowly and quietly as possible. They obviously were securing whatever is causing those waves. Luckily, all I need is heat vision, and smell. And that's where I found it. A receiver. That means the real source of electromagnetic waves is somewhere else.

Once I got out of the building I took my phone to look at the picture of the map I took before we left. If all the three locations have receivers that mean it's one in the middle. I zoomed in to look closely and it came to me. TV tower. It's tall enough to transmit the waves and receivers amplify them. It all made sense now.

I started to hurry to the TV tower while trying to text them, but no answer. That's unlike them. I decided to check the three other locations to pick their senses, until I located them in the park, with Black Swan members. Change of plan.

It was getting dark as I hurried to the park's playground. As I tried to pick their senses, someone grabs me from behind and covers my mouth. It's one of the Black Swan men. I tried to fight back, but he simply held me tighter. I soon realized why.

The producer lady has tried to escape, but it looks like they got ahead of her and surrounded her.

"Miss Darens!"

I tried to shout to her to run away, but my mouth was still covered by a hand. I still tried to get free, but nothing yet.

"If you don't want to get hurt, don't move from that spot." one of them said to her.

The producer lady tried to get away, but one of them grabbed her by her arm.

"Let go! Let go of me, you...!"

"Settle down!" said one who held still.

"The great mighty Queen... we don't wish to cause you harm. However, if you interfere with the great Hades's plan, that's a different story."

"Hades?" The produce lady recognized the name. Hades? As in Greece god of death? Now I am sure it's a code name. "So this is one of Black Swan's plots? Transmitting those triggering waves from Loveland TV tower, leaving those receivers all over the place..."

"It's all for the sake of the new world that awaits the Evolvers after evolution."

I had enough of that crap, so I bit the hand, in which the one who was holding me had to let go of me before I grabbed him and tackled him down hard.

"Why you little..!" one who was holding the produce lady shouted as he tried to take his gun and aim at me but right then something came out of nowhere and hit him. We all turned around to realize it was Lucien. But that wasn't his evol... Right, I realize the difference in Lucien's sense. He is one of them. He is also part of Black Swan.

My suspicions were clear when one who was the leader of the group recognized him and summoned sharp ice blocks and aimed them at him. Lucien however moved away and touched one of the ice before summoned the same ice blocks and aimed them back.

"There's no point." Lucien said to them in a cold tone. "It's not as though you don't know who I am." In this, they all lowered their weapons or hands if they were evolvers.

"Whoever interferes with the plan, no matter who it is must be stopped." The group leader said while one went to help him up. "Even if it happens to be you, Ares!"

Ares?! The one who has my pen? I wasn't sure who was shocked here. Me or the producer lady?

"In that case, I will restrain the Queen," Lucien said. "You will withdraw. We can't afford to lose her yet, can we? For Hades, the Queen must be a necessary pawn in the plan."

In this, they left, leaving us three alone.

"What's going on?" The produce lady asked. "Who is Ares? Lucien, are you... Are you... part of Black Swan?"

"No, I'm not." Lucien said normally, but then... "If I said that, would you believe me?"

That was like a stab to the back. The producer lady was definitely more shocked, realizing her neighbor/friend/program assistant is actually part of Black Swan.

"It was... all lies?"

"I have a policy never to engage in anything pointless." Ares said. "I told you, didn't I. Humanity must evolve. "It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place." Evolution is the only way to create a better future. To that end, I will not shy away from any means." he said before trying to come closer.

"Stay back!" The producer lady yelled before taking the pen, he gave her and pointed it at her neck. "Let me go!"

"Do you think that here, in this moment, you have room to negotiate?" Ares said.

"You haven't done anything to thank me for earlier yet!" She yelled while a small drop of blood came out from her neck.

"Or I could do this better..." I said before sharp nails of fire appeared to my hand and I point one at them at her. "Let us go or the Queen go bye-bye. And before you say anything, I have nothing to lose here, unlike you."

Ares obviously has no option here.

"I see. I will let you go." he said before turning around. "However, there is no next time. You must make sure I never catch you again."

We were about to leave before the Produce lady turned around.

"Ares, I don't believe you!" she yelled as he stopped. "Because you're not Lucien!" "Lucien would never... do anything to hurt me!" she cried before running away. I stood there while he turned around to see her disappear in the dark night.

I was about to leave before he spoke. "When you said you have nothing to lose, you were wrong." I turned to look at him. To my surprise, I saw blood coming from his right eye. "I know what you're looking for."

"I take your little thief gave my message to you." I said to him. "And for the record, I will come for it when this is over." I said before I turned and took a few steps before I turned back. "Oh, and one more thing. All that "humanity must evolve to survive"... that's the stupidest thing I have ever heard!" I shouted. " You and friends think this will take you to the brightest future? Wrong! The only thing humanity must evolve is by being here, not by superpowers." I said while I pointed at the chest where the heart is. "Otherwise, it's a hamster wheel to extinction."
