Although I didn't like the way Victor expanded the time in the hospital to Miss producer, but I still stayed sometimes to keep her company. I even get to meet two of her employees. Anna and Kiki. She tried to handle some of the work in the hospital, but it still didn't feel the same to her. And I get that. In fact if Victor expands another week to her, I'll... do something I never imagine to do to him.

It was now one of those nights that I stayed in the room with her, as I noticed movement outside the window. I went to look and I noticed a familiar figure.

I went up to the roof where there stood officer Gavin.

"What happened?" he asked.

"Black Swan." I said. "She is recovering."

"Were you there?"

"I went to investigate the place, but I never had a chance to warn before it was too late."

Gavin nods to understand what I told. None of us spoke up, as the wind blew.

"Miss Darens, have you done something?" he asked me.

"Define 'something'." I replied.

"Besides Black Swan, STF is also looking for a girl whose resemblance is like yours. Red hair, reptile eyes..."

I knew I had to face this sooner or later. I took a deep breath first.

"Tell me, officer Gavin..." I started. He looked surprised that I asked so formally. "What has happened to those who STF have taken to its protection?"

The shock in his eyes showed he either doesn't know or that he is surprised that I asked that.

"You know about them?" he asked me.

"I was there." I answered. This shocked him more. "And I failed..." tears came out from my eyes before the wind blew them away.

"What happened?"

"When we rescued that boy, I gave him a charm, which my father gave me and my brother, in case something happens, when he or mom are out. It's like a distress signal and protector till they arrive. A wolf of fire." I explained. "I have seen my father made often, I learned to make one myself. In the end of the summer, I got that signal and I found that boy in the middle of the forest, along with the protector which my charm summoned. I heard people looking at him. I helped him to hide. From there I realized he wasn't running from Black Swan, it was STF." Gavin remained speechless as I continued. "I heard them saying they were going to kill him. He was just a child, Gavin. A CHILD! And they planned to kill him, like he was some sort of criminal!" Tears started to fall more and more. "The protector distracted them, leading them elsewhere, so we could escape, but I got shot to my legs and arms. I was between them and the kid. Until, he... wrapped me far from there."

Gavin could only imagine what had happened then. If I stood between them, before I was wrapped, then... I collapsed to cry louder. I never witnessed something like that.

Then I felt strong arms around me as I looked up, Gavin had kneeled down to hug me. The same feelings of comfort and protection came to me, just like the first I met him. It was like... I had a big brother... another big brother.

"If that's the truth, I need you to lay low profile, until I have investigated." he said to me.

"Investigate...? You mean...?"

"My younger brother gave me the hint." he said, sounding a bit annoyed. I was surprised to learn he has a brother, but by his tone I take their relationship is not good like mine. "I didn't want to believe him,... but when I looked for information about those we had taken in, it made me investigate."

I just rest my head on his shoulder. I was glad he is one I could count on. Then he helps me up.

"I must continue my investigation. Whatever is going to happen, could be dangerous, so don't go around with... that look of yours. In the meantime, look after her." I know who he meant, so I nodded. Since it was clear, he jumped out of the roof before flying away.

Finally came the day when the producer lady got out of the hospital. I simply followed her distant into her apartment. Once she was in I tried to check any messages. That's when I noticed that net wasn't working. I checked my phone, only to notice that I wasn't only one. Everyone was having problems with service outage. I tried to call Victor, Gavin or Kiro, but nothing. I began to worry. This can't be some normal service failure. Entire city was having the problem and yet there's no storm or anything else that would affect it. It has been calm weather so far, so it can't be that.

I was walking in the park when suddenly I felt someone standing behind me. As I turned around there was a young man with bluish-grey hair with tousled bangs. He has mischievous light amber eyes. Amber eyes... just like...Gavin. Is this... his younger brother?

"What? Mistook me from someone?" he asked jokingly.

"You by chance wouldn't have a big brother as a police officer?"

"Half- brother, actually." he cleared as walked towards me. That was a surprise to me. Gavin never mentioned that detail. "We had the same father, but we got separated, because he didn't have his evol back then. You could say, our father wasn't much of "father of the year" kinda guy." I just rolled my eyes for that. "Almost forgot, my name is Shawn."

"Was it you who told Gavin about STF?" I asked.

"May-be..." he teased. "Why? Do you know their dark secret?"

"I was there." I cleared.

"You were?" he wondered before looking closely at me. "Are you wearing a wig or something? 'Cause I have heard something about a girl that can control fire, but she has red hair and a peculiar eye."

"May I ask where you heard about this girl?" I asked.

"Well, I have a habit "sneak in" into places."

"Does that include Black Swan?" I asked. Although I wasn't in my power form, I could recognize some smells. Especially since I have destroyed Black Swan's set ups twice now. "Are you working for them?" I asked in a death serious tone. I admit, I learned it from Victor.

"Let's just say I'm in the grey zone here. I don't actually work for either one of them, but sometimes..."

"Is that the reason you and officer Gavin don't go well?" I asked.

"One of the many perhaps... or not."

"And why are you here?" I asked.

"How about something to eat?"

We were now eating in some cafeteria or diner, because we took sandwiches and sodas. Well, considering his age and attitude...

"So... why come to me?" I asked before taking another bite of my sandwich.

"In my opinion, I think you know where this redhead is." Shawn said to me.

"I don't deny or confirm that."

"Well, I just have a message for her." Shawn told me. "Have you noticed the server outage?"

"It's self caused, am I right?" I asked.

"By Black Swan." Shawn cleared. I knew it! "It seems the Queen is waking up."

"Queen?"

"You don't know?" Shaw asked

"I may know of the existence of Evol, but I never heard anything about the Queen." I cleared. In this he chuckles. Why I feel uneasy?

"According to what I learned, so far from Black Swan, The Queen can awaken the evol in person."

"Awaken? You mean she gives the evol power?"

"Only if the gene is ready." Shawn reminds. "I'm not good at this science stuff, but I know so far not anyone can be an Evolver."

"It requires a certain gene to have it..." I mumble. This reminds me of a few of my father's travels. He was once in places where certain people got superpowers because of their genes. In one of them, those people are feared and hated, but in the other one it was usual, but in the past... it deja vu all over....

"What happens to those that have already evol?" I asked.

"I didn't look at that. But I'm pretty sure it affects them too. Since to me this power of the Queen acts like a boost."

Boost? This made me think. If someone who has evol gets a boost, is he.... That's when it hit me. The time when the miss producer got hit. Victor's powers went out of control as black holes. But then, that means...

"Figured something?" Shawn asked teasingly.

"I need to go." I said as I got up and left the place, leaving Shawn to finish his soda.

I ran to the producer lady's apartment, but she wasn't there anymore. This made me worry. Where could she be? Although Gavin told me to keep a low profile I had no choice. I used the lighter to awaken my powers. I picked something from the producer lady's terrace to pick her smell. Then I started to follow it. She was obviously in a hurry. But where to, I couldn't say. I soon followed her smell to Greenwood hotel.

Greenwood hotel? That's where I stayed when I got here. When I was robbed. I was having a bad feeling about this.

I entered the hotel lobby and saw Gavin.

"Gavin?"

Hearing it, he turns to see me. "Miss Darens? What are you...? I told you to stay low."

"I'll explain later. She is here."

Gavin already knew who I meant, so he took me to the elevator, before pushing the button to the fourth floor.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"One who worked to Black Swan had a sister. Sadly, STF already killed him, so means she is at rage and could be used by Black Swan on something. She was seen here before." he said and showed me a picture.

Once I saw it, I recognized the girl. I took hold of myself. I could this time feel how my anger wanted to burst out like a fire.

"Miss Darens?"

"I know that girl..." I said, sounding a bit different. "She's the thief, who robbed my..." I tried to hold onto myself. It was like there was something inside me.

As soon as the elevator came to the floor, I got out and held on to the wall.

"Miss Darens..."

"Go... I try to handle...this. GO!"

Gavin went to look for room 404 while I stood in the hallway with elevators. As much as I wanted to get my hands on that girl, I can't let this happen to me. I have so far managed to handle this, when I'm in an empty room. But then again even that looks like a bomb has exploded. But what if I hurt someone this time? Or in the worst case kill... I collapse on the floor and hold onto myself.

She took the precious thing from you. She deserves to be burned to ashes!

What was that? It came from inside me. I wasn't sure if it was in my mind, but I saw a dragon made of flames looking at me.

If she wouldn't have stolen the pen, you wouldn't be in this situation.

In this situation? If I hadn't been robbed back then, would I have met others? No,... would I have come to fond of them? Would I have met Victor and became his apprentice? Would I meet the producer lady? Or Lucien? Would I learn that Kiro, a famous idol, is actually a legendary hacker?

I started to remember what my parents told me and my brother.

"Some things can't be changed, no matter how much we want. What matters is how you move on from it."

It's true. I have come this far already. Meet new people who are now important to me. And I know what I will do.

The dragon of flame vanishes as I walk to the direction Gavin went. As I walked in the hallway, I could sense a door where there isn't one. As I came near, it started to appear. A door to middle space. My parents told me about those. Rare ones, but good short cuts, if you know how to use them. I open it and I find the entire room in flames and Gavin in the middle of the room looking down.

I have never seen him like this. Does this awaken bad memories to him? Whatever it is, I go to him while the flame let me through.

"Gavin! Gavin! Get a grip of yourself!" I shouted to him. "Remember why we came here."

I don't know if it was me or something else, but Gavin came back to his senses and summoned wind to clear most of the fire in the room. That's when we discovered the portal to an unknown place. By smell I could tell the producer lady is there. And so is the girl.

"Hurry up." I said to him as I passed the portal.

"Are you sure you're up to this?" Gavin asked.

"I'm not gonna kill her, if that's what you mean." I cleared. "I want to get an answer. But if she tries to attack, I won't hold back."

From far we heard screaming, before Gavin jumped up and flew ahead while I ran ahead. If my suspicion is correct, then that means I must hurry.

I soon arrived where Gavin stood between the producer lady and the girl.

"Because of you... because both of you, my brother is...." she said before charging at them with green flames on her right hand.

I sped up quickly and came right in front of Gavin. In quick movements like Victor did, I hit her hand and slap at her face. She stumbled on the ground and was about to get up to blast, until she recognized me.

"You..."

"Yeah. I get that alot." I said. Once again she tried to blast fire at me, but nothing. I took all that fire and it turned into a wolf made of fire, which held her down. "Have you already forgotten what I can do? If I weren't wrapped elsewhere that day I would have got my purse back, while you... let's just say you wouldn't be using your powers like that now.

"What would..." she tried to say before fire growled at her.

"I want an answer. If you refuse, the wolf turns into a dragon. A big one, if you try to use your powers till it can easily consume you."

"Miss Darens. Don't do it!" Producer lady begged me. Gavin however, held her still, but was ready to summon wind to get rid of the fire creature I created.

"On the day you robbed me, there was an item in my purse, along with money and a hotel key. Where is it?" I asked in a dead serious voice.

"I-I don't have it..." the girl trembled. The fire wolf wasn't pleased with her answer as it growled more.

"I have been on that ally before and there was only an empty purse, so I know you also took it. Now, for the last time, where is it?!" I demanded a threatening voice, while the fire wolf was changing its form. Gavin was ready to aim wind at it, till finally...

"Ares! I gave it to Ares!" she confessed.

In this, a fire wolf vanished, before I grabbed hold of her shirt.

"Tell that "Ares" that I have a message to him. I'll come for what is mine." I said before letting go of her. "She is all yours, officer." I said to Gavin.

Gavin looked at the girl, who looked angrily at them, but obviously she didn't try anything, knowing that I would come between and maybe even summon that fire wolf again.

"Your rage is justified. The justice we believed in was a lie." Gavin said to her. "But I have things, I must protect. I won't let them be taken from me again!"

I could see how much she wanted to get up and blast, but seeing me standing there, she knew she couldn't do anything. Gavin told her to leave and she vanished by green flames.

Once it was over I collapsed and let it all out.

"Ah, that was a close one. I almost wanted to give another slap to her." I sighed loud.

"I think you owe us something." Gavin said to me.

"Can we first figure out how to get out of here." I suggested.

"Follow the sound of the waterfall!" Producer lady told us. "We might be able to find a way out there."

I could hear it, so I knew where to go, so I took the lead. As we walked, Gavin spoke to me.

"That what you just did, is it part of your 'complicated' power of yours?" he asked.

I sighed on that. I guess it's time for me to explain things to them.

"I inherit these powers from my father."

"Was your father an evolver?" Producer lady asked.

"No. He was an ordinary man, with a simple life. But he lived in the country, which was ruled by a cruel dictator, who desired power over everything. He wanted to build an army to take over more countries. And for that he wanted soldiers whose minds were bitter and easy to control. My father wasn't like that. And so he was wrongly accused and arrested."

Gavin and the producer lady kept listing me.

"The dictator wanted my father to suffer, hoping it would break his spirit. He let his generals to torture him. They did all the possible cruelty to him, without feeling any remorse."

"All the possible..." the producer lady wondered.

"By what I was told, his deepest wounds weren't physical ones."

"They went that far?" Gavin asked.

"Further than that." I cleared. Both remained speechless. They weren't sure what I meant, but they could guess my father went through, as people would say 'living hell'. "However, my father didn't give up. That's when the dictator decided to try one last method. To turn him into a monster."

"Is that when he got the powers?" Producer lady asked.

"Yes. The plan was to turn him something powerful and strong like a dragon, but also fierce and skillful as a wolf. Obviously they wanted something big that destroys everything around it, but the experiment failed. My father did get powers to control fire and such, not to mention a totally different look, but it didn't change his size or ruin his mind. So, as soon as he got a chance he escaped."

"What happened to him then?" Producer lady asked.

"He got into a different country where he met my mom. Fell in love. And after many years, they had me." I finished.

"What about the dictator?" Gavin asked.

"That's another story for another time." I said.

We soon found ourselves in the small riverbank in the park. We managed to get back to Loveland. Producer lady told us she learned this from her father's notebook. According to it, there was a family of four who vanished and were found in mountains many miles from where they went, but only two of them survived. I could guess why and who those were.

"I need to get some information." I told them. "Can you take her home, officer." I asked Gavin.

"Sure."

I jumped high to the roof tops. I now got the name of the person who has my pen. Ares. But isn't that name of Greece god of war? Is it a code name? Perhaps one of the powerful ones in Black Swan. Named after gods... and they want this queen to awaken evol...

Then I felt something. Some kind of wave. What was that? But then I started to sense a difference in the city. By dragon sense and wolf's smell I could tell something was up. I need to report this to Victor. I hurried to LFG, but as I hurried news reported commotion in the event where Kiro was. Something about fans going nuts. That's when it hit me.

"....I'm pretty sure it affects them too. Since to me this power of the Queen acts like a boost."

The Queen.

I stopped my tracks and headed back to the park. I'm sure Victor can figure out himself. As I hurried I felt a strong wind passing by. Was it Gavin? I didn't have time to figure it out. I was concerned about the producer lady.

As I came to the park, it was already night. I find a producer lady walking alone. As soon she noticed me, tears started to appear in her eyes. I went to her and hugged her, as she hugged me. I wasn't sure yet what was going on, but it was all coming together. And she was the key to this. I must protect her.
