Episode 20 The Alternative Means
"Congratulations, Rick." Matt shakes hands with him.
"Thanks buddy...where is Amy?" Rick looks around but doesn't find her.
"Jared's fever is getting worse so... I'll take a leave too." Matt walks out hurriedly and finds Amy stepping in her car.
He runs and gets inside before she can speed up. "Were you just gonna leave me?"
"You knew it. Didn't you?" Tears keep rolling down her cheeks. Whole world around her seems to be collapsing.
Just a glance of her face gets Matt's heart filled with guilt and sadness. Her tears turn into an ocean drowning him. And he feels helpless not even having control over himself.
"Jared and I. We've been trying to prevent this. That's why Rick was transferred to your division," he lets out the truth with a heavy heart.
"What? After all what happened to Mom?"
Matt stares at her confused. "Get off," She says furiously. He doesn't budge. "I said get off."
He steps out. "How am I supposed to get home?"
"I DON'T CARE!!" She speeds away.
Matt dials Jared and informs over the phone, "Jared, she found out and she left too, being furious with me."
"What do you mean by she left?" Jared asks angrily.
"She left me here and went away in her car," Matt explains.
"I had warned you. If anything happens to her, it'll be on you." Jared hangs up.
Matt puts his phone back furiously. "Does anyone care about what happens to me?" He takes a cab and follows her.
In a moment, they approach a crimson colored Villa with a light green water pool in front. Matt gets out and runs to Amy. "Don't talk to me," she says and slams her car door.
She steps into her Villa. "JARED," she yells out loud. Jared comes running down a staircase in a large hall.
"After all what happened with Mom. You still are forcing someone to love." Her eyes keep welling up with tears, and her voice breaks at times.
"Your method doesn't seem to have worked either," says Jared, still furiously.
She runs on the staircase towards her room. He turns back and follows her pacing up. Her room door shuts on his face brushing his nose. "Okay, I'm sorry. Open the door, Amy." He pounds on the door.
"I'm not talking to you," comes her muffled voice. He runs his hand over his face and turns around. Matt appears in his view.
"What happened to her Mom?" Matt asks with a stare that tells him, he won't take no for an answer.
Jared walks down to the hall and serves coffee to him. Taking a deep breath he states, "Our parents' marriage was just a business alliance. Mom coped up for love in a software developer.
She promoted him to CEO but he was too self-righteous and left the company. When Dad found out he got separated from Mom too." Jared takes a sip of coffee.
"Where is your mom now?"
Jared's hand trembles so he puts the cup on the table."Suicide. Amy always blames dad for it. So I & she live here away from him. I've been taking care of her since she was 10."
"That's why she fears your way," Matt reconciles.
"Her way didn't do well either and we're not backing down. It's not over yet." Jared finishes his coffee.
"How?"
"What do you know about Jasmine?"

At The Party:
"Why are you shying away from me?" asks Rick following Jasmine.
"I'm not. I'm just not that into a party."
Rick takes a glance at Adrian still lurking in a corner. "I'm not liking it anymore either. Should we just elope?"
"It's your sister's party, Rick." She smiles bashfully.
Rick walks up to Ella taking drinks and whispers, "I'll need the car keys." She raises her eyebrows.
He blinks and shakes his head towards Jasmine. She puts it in his palms. "I'll text you in case I need anything."
Rick paces towards Jasmine and grabbing her hands, he walks out. "No more shying away."
A few moments later. Everyone settles in the open-roof restaurant. Adrian takes a look at all the round tables. "Why don't I see the couple here?"
"I'm not her PA. Stop staring at me," says Adriana frustrated.
"Very well, I have other means too." He stands up and steps into the hotel. "Edward, I need her location," he says over the phone.
He walks to a room's door and turning its doorknob he lets it wide open. No one appears in his view. He steps towards the other one.
In a room, Jasmine is walking dressed in a grey bodycon to her knees. Rick's black suit is hovering over her shoulders. "So what are we gonna do?" she asks in a teasing tone.
"You tell me." Rick turns her around and traps her, between his arms stacked to a wall behind her.
"Maybe." She shrugs her left shoulder and his suit slides from it. Her spotless shoulders come into his view. He lets his hand slide to his sides.
His suit drops to reveal her strapless neckline dress and bare shoulders as she shrugs again. "Maybe, we could just go back." Chuckling she gets out of his range of hands. He turns and follows her towards the room's door. "Not today."
The door opens wide in a jerk. Adrian enters the room. With his eyes focused straight, he looks at a couple on a bed. "What the hell, creep?" roars out loud the man on the bed.
He turns back and slams the door with a bang. His phone rings, "She's not there, sir. They are out of the town."
Rick grabs Jasmine by her waist from behind. "No one can separate us." He moves his head towards her neck. Her hair covers his face. He lets it be there taking in her mesmerizing aroma.
She turns towards him. Her back lies over the door behind. She runs a finger from his forehead to chin and stops around his lips. "Not even me?"
"Not even you." He presses his lips on hers. His hand grabs her hair and pulls her closer. She runs her hand over his back. The distance between them fades away and their bodies radiate heat.
"Enjoy your lovely moments till it lasts, Rick." Adrian puts his phone back and walks towards his car. "It ain't over yet."

"I think I should drop you as your brother has already ditched you," says Laura finishing her food beside Ella.
"You saw that?" she asks shamefaced.
"I'm very observant."
She cracks in light laughter. "You certainly are. But my parents will go too."
"No issues. Let's go."
Ella takes the seat beside Laura in front and her parents settle in the backseat. The car gets moving. "What do you do Laura?" asks David.
"I'm an accountant too. But not in Rick's company," she replies, looking straight towards the road in front.
"Good," David says smiling. "What about your parents?" asks Leyla.
Laura scratches around her throat for a moment and replies, "My mom died when I was 6. My dad left the army to take care of me."
"Sorry about that," says Leyla in a saddened tone. Ella puts a hand over Laura's shoulder. "It's okay," says Laura and presses her lips into a thin line.
"You should have brought your dad too," says David.
"He doesn't live here. I moved to this town a few months ago."
"You should come to our home often. Ella is new and she doesn't know anyone here too," says Leyla.
Laura glances at Ella and then turns towards the road in front. A nauseous feeling starts in her stomach, she rubs it off.
Rick's home appears in their view. Ella's parents step out and walk towards it. Ella turns to her, "C'mon you don't wanna miss out on my paintings."
Laura steps out and walks along with her. They walk into Ella's room and she shows her a painting of a sunset. "This is really heavenly, Ella. You use Linseed oil?"
"Yes the yellowish texture comes out great with that," replies Ella amused by her observation.
"You do oil paintings too?"
"Mine's kinda a hobby." She walks around the house looking at some other paintings of mountains, rivers, and some portraits. "That is certainly Rick."
"Yeah. He looks awful in painting too," chuckles Ella.
"He does but your paintings are too good," she says smiling. "You should open an art gallery," she adds.
"Really? But I don't know anyone here."
"You leave all that to me."
"You'll do all that?"
"Certainly. You're my new best friend now."
--------------------------
Near a busy market, the cars on the road are completely halted. Among the long queue of cars, a yellow taxi is honking. Its driver checks the queue ahead impatiently at every second. "Bloody morons, did somebody die or what?"
A bearded man is sitting in the passenger seat. His whole face is under darkness except the eyes.
As the sound of horns increases around him, he moves the window glass up. His face gets into complete darkness.
The driver keeps honking and yelling at the people in his front. "Don't make that much noise." the bearded man puts his hand over his ears.
The driver turns towards him, "You don't know anything about this place. This is kinda a daily routine now. People here are complete morons-"
"Please," pleads the man interrupting him.
He turns towards the front and continues, "I'm doing it for you only. If we stay silent then-" his voice cuts off in the middle. "What are y-" comes his strangled voice.
A tie is wrapped around the driver's throat and is being pulled towards the passenger seat. Blood spills from the driver's mouth as the tie tightens. The bearded man's face appears to the right of the driver's.
"I don't like chaos and I kill whoever makes it."
