Reese

That's when I heard it. A gun shot. My body ran cold and my heart stopped beating. No. No. Please God, No.

"Why are you sitting by yourself back here? Everybody will be here soon."

I turned around and seen Chloe leaning against the back door. Her hair blew into her face a little as the wind danced around us. I smiled.

"I know. I just came back here for a little bit." I stood from my spot and walked over to her. She looked up at me as my tucked a loose string of hair behind her ear and kissed her forehead. "Lets go inside."

Before we could reach the living room the doorbell rung, making Chloe let go of my hand and hurry towards the door.

"Well hello beautiful how can i make your night better?" Rain asked as he entered. I narrowed my eyes at him and walked towards them.

"Rain do you usually walk into someone's home and attempt to steal things that don't belong to you?"

He shrugged his shoulders, while looking as if he was actually considering it before reaching out for Chloe's hand.

"Get out of here," i said as i raised my fist at him, which he only laughed off and walked away.

"So guys look, I'm tired of this Chase and i know you are too. Its caused nothing but pain and dread so it needs to be over with already."

I looked at my Family.

My Family that i couldn't let anything happen too.

"There is this warehouse in the park where David said his father was. We have to go there. We have to end this."

They looked at me. Really looked at me. And i looked at them.

"Same warehouse where we found him the first time?" Trey asked.

I nodded.

Then he laughed. I mean he just laughed and laughed. Everyone looked at him in confusion. What could finally be so funny in such an intense moment that could have him so amused is beyond me. But he continued.

He laughed until there was no sound coming out of his mouth.

"For goodness gracious Trey, what in God's name is so funny." Amber asked sitting up next to him and patting his back as he began to burst into violent coughing fits.

"All of this," he huffed out, " All of this just to get back to where we started. Back at the exact same place that started this freaking war. All the pain and the leaving and the hospital visits. All the tears and wrong doings and everything! Everything only to get back to the beginning!"

We had all mistaken Trey's laughter as amusement but in reality he was upset.

He had every right to be.

"You're right Reese, i am tired! I'm tired of chasing this moron so if we're going to do this then its going to be the LAST time! We have two teenage girls here who need to finish high school Reese! Instead their fighting for their lives all because a crazed insane lunatic can't get over his old ruined life."

He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and pointed a finger at me.

"So listen, if we do this, this is it. We end it."

He turned and looked at everyone of us before huffing and stomping towards the restroom, a shocked Amber in tow.

We sat in silence for a moment, before Chloe said something.

"This is it. The last time."

And she left the room too.

"Are you nervous?" Chloe asked in the quiet of our bedroom.

Everyone was long gone. After we agreed on a time to meet at the park tomorrow, they left.

"No, i do this for a living remember?"

i turned on my side to face her and seen her already looking at me.

"Well i am. I'm so nervous Reese. What if something bad happens. What if one of us gets hurt?"

I grabbed her hand and laced our fingers together, bringing her closer to me.

"I won't let anything happen to you. You know that right?" I said.

she nodded her tired little head at me and tucked her head into my neck.

"Then you have no need to be worried. I'll have you by my side the entire time. Or you can stay in the car, what about that?"

I waited for a reply for almost 2 minutes before realizing that Chloe had fell asleep.

i chuckled a bit. Yea, she wouldnt like that idea anyway. I pressed my nose into her hair and sighed. I closed my eyes and waited for sleep wrapped itself around me

The next morning i woke up to a empty bed and a quiet house. I rubbed my eyes while climbing from the bed.
I walked to the restroom. Empty.
Kitchen.Empty
Living Room. Empty
Backyard. Empty.

Chloe was no where to be found. Once the panick began to set in, my cell phone rung.

i swiftly walked back to my room and picked it up without checking who it was.

"Hello."
"Hello Reese."
My eyes narrowed and my jaw tightened.

"How did you get my number?"
He laughed loudly and took a short pause.
"I have my ways. How's my boy? You went to visit him yes?"
"He's crippled and handcuffed to the bed. He's better off then you'll be when we find you."

He was silent.

"Find me? But Reese, you already know where i am, Don't you? You know exactly where i am. He told you, my boy. Will you bring beautiful Chloe with you? i really like her, that one."

My breath quickened but a sense of ease washed over me knowing that he didnt have her. So where was she?

"She's attached to me Moon. You wont be getting her. Just hope we spare your life."

He took a deep sigh. "Such a pity. I really like her. Maybe i'll keep her in remembrance of you." He laughed again and hung up the phone.
I stared at my phone until it began to ring agian.

"Listen to me you sick basta-"

"Woah babe, it's me. Want something from McDonalds? I'm in the drivethru and its almost my turn."

Hearing her voice made me sag into relief and drop to the bed.

"Chloe? Where have you been?"

"I went to see my parents and now im in McDonalds drivethru. What do you want? Nevermind, I'm getting you pancakes."

I chuckled and shook my head.
"Pancakes are fine baby. New rule, no leaving the house until i'm up."
He beautiful laughter filled my ears.

"Yea, i'm not following that rule. Look its my turn, I'll talk to you when I get home. I want to know about Moon's call."

I instantly sat straight up.

"How did you know he called me Chloe?"

She was silent for a second. I could hear the McDonalds employee on the speaker.

"Because he called me too. See you when I get home." The she hung up.

20 minutes later i was showered and eating pancakes at my kitchen table.

"How were your parents?" I asked as i reached for my orange juice.

She nodded her head at me. "They're fine. I just wanted to see them before tonight, ya know."

"Nothing is going to happen to you," i said grabbing her hand.

"I know, but just incase."

"What did he want," she asked leaning back in her seat and placing her hand on her now full stomach.

i swallowed what was in my mouth and wiped it with a napkin.

"I honestly don't know. I guess he just wanted a friendly chat. He asked about David a couple times."

She reached for her orange juice.

"Why did he call you?"

She put her cup down and looked at me.

"He said he couldnt wait to see me."

That pissed me off. I beckoned her over to me and waited until she was close enough for me to pull her into my lap and wrap my arms around her.

"I don't share."

She chuckled.

"I don't want to be shared."

Our conversation pretty much ended after that and we made our way back to my room to watch a couple of movies. So thats what we did until it was almost time for us to get ready for the night ahead. Spending time with Chloe was nothing less of amazing and i loved it. I loved her head cuddled into my chest and her hands laced with mines. I loved her laugh at the funny parts and her sigh at the sad ones. I loved her. After we were changed into things more comfortable to move in we made our way to the living room. The Family would be here soon. Chloe was seated in my lap and we had somehow managed to get back on the topic of Moon.

"He's called me before."

"WHAT?"
The doorbell rung before she got the chance to reply.
"I'll get it."
She bounced off my lap and hurried towards the door.
i went to reach for her but she was too fast.

"Hi guys!"
i watched as Trey and Amber made their way into my home.
Chloe and Amber instantly dove into a deep conversation as Trey made his way to me.
"Excited to be back into FBI, secret agent mode"

i chuckled. "When did i ever stop?"

He laughed and agreed with me.

"A pizza guy should be here any minute with our dinner for tonight. Curtesy of me." Amber said walking over to us and wrapping a arm around Trey.

"What is this? A Party?"

"No but it could be."
I looked towards my door to see my brothers entering. Rain had a case of beer in his hands.

"So what are we doing? Eating dinner and getting drunk before we kill people. Nice" Chloe said walking over to me.

"No, dear Chloe, not drunk. Happy. We're getting happy."

The doorbell rung again.

"I'll get it," Amber said running towards the door and grabbing her purse. 2 minutes later she came in with about 5 boxes of pizza.

"Lets eat."

"God, I'm full. You think It'll slow me down?" Rain asked blowing his beer breath in my face.

I pushed him off of me and laughed. "It better not or I'll be sending a bullet into your backside. "

"Ouch." He laughed and walked towards his bike.

I laughed and popped Trey upside the head as i walked by him and to my car, where Chloe is waiting on me. I could hear him in the back but i was already at my car.

"Here." I placed a gun into Chloe's hand and kissed her forehead.

She looked at it and looked at me.

"I wont let ANYTHING happen to you Chloe. Baby i promise after tonight, after we end this i will do nothing but take care of you. "

She smiled and nodded her head at me.

"I like blueberry muffins before school and starbucks. I enjoy long hot baths on Friday nights after a long week. I like my feet rubbed but i also love eating out every now and then."

i scrunched up my eyebrows at her wondering why she was telling me this.

"After we end this Reese i want to spend everyday with you and only you. Thats if you will have me. I will do everything in my will to make you happy."

I laughed and leaned my head against hers.
"I'll have you and go anywhere you go."

"LOVEBIRDS LETS GOO!"

I looked to see everybody ready to go except us. I helped Chloe into her seat and jogged to mines.

No words could explian how nervous i was. There was no way to make sure everything would go out right except hope. We could only hope.

The ride to the park was silent. I held Chloe hand with one of mines and the wheel with the other. In her other hand was the gun i gave her.

We were the last to pull up. I spotted Rick talking to the twins and Trey leaning lazily against his car with Amber between him.

"Ok guys. There are no more words. We know what has to be done so lets do it. Be careful, Be safe. Lets end this."

We all faced the woods where the warehouse was located, side by side. Who would have thought, huh?

My love for you guys run so deep, i hope you understand. Yall are amazing. I know you guys are upset with me. I'm sorry. i cant say that enough and i hope you forgive me. Many of you wont. but thats fine. I love you guys and i would be NO where without you. Thank You for everything.
