Chapter 38

"Lee Hyejin are you ready?" Mom called for me from the living room.

"I'm cominggg," I answered. It was early in the morning when I finally had to move out. I grabbed my handbag and dragged my luggage, walking out of my room and I saw my parents waiting for me at the door.

"Let's go. You didn't leave anything behind right?" Dad asked me and I nodded. My parents stepped out of the house and I slowly followed after them with a heavy heart. This is it, I'm never gonna see this house ever again because it's getting sold off.

"Hyejin hurry up, we can't be late or we'll miss our flight," Mom called for me urgently. I quickened my steps to the gate and stepped out. Mom locked the gate and I took a last glance at the house, trying my best to hold my tears. Mom noticed, and she patted my back to cheer me up.

We took a cab to the airport and reached about 6. It was an hour before the flight and we waited patiently before the departure. I couldn't help but tear up, still not believing the fact that I'm leaving Korea.

Soon, I finally boarded the plane when suddenly I received a text on my phone. It was from Taehyung.

"Have a safe flight, remember to call me."-Taehyung

I smiled, feeling a little cheered up after reading his text message.

"Thanks, don't be late for school. I have to go now, annyeong."-Hyejin

Hours later the plane landed safely. We got out of airport and looked for the taxi stand.

I looked around and there were many types of people around, speaking fluent English. I was pretty worried because I'm not that very fluent but I know some basic English.

"Let's see our new house, Hyejin ah," Dad said as a taxi stopped infront of us. We boarded the cab all the way to our new home. The surroundings in America were all new to me. Signboards are all in English and stuff like that.

An hour later or so, we finally reached to our house. I got out of the taxi and got awed when I saw the new home. It was a big house with a white rooftop and basically everything white on the outside. It's 3-storeys high and there was a Maserati car parked on the outside. I realised it kinda look like Taehyung's place.

I looked at it and barely blinked. "This is really our house?" I asked my parents.

Mom chuckled, "Yes darling. Let's go in and see the rooms."

I entered into the house and it was awesome. The house was warm and the interior design was beautiful. I plopped down on the sofa and turned on the television. It was amazing.

"Hyejin ah, let's go see your room first," Mom called me.

I followed her up to the second floor and opened the door to my room. I squealed when I saw my room's in pastel pink - it's my favourite colour! I ran in and jumped on my bed and it felt so comfy.

Mom smiled at me. "Go ahead and unpack your stuff. I'll go cook something for us to eat," Mom said and I nodded.

I sat up properly on my bed and looked around my room that was bigger than the one in my previous house. Moving wasn't a really bad idea after all, but I still missed Taehyung and everyone else, plus Korea and the Korean food.

I took a nap and woke up to my phone ringing. I reached for my phone and squinted looking at the caller ID before I finally answered.

"Yah! What took you so long to answer?" Taehyung said.

I softly chuckled, "Is that how you say hello?"

I heard him sigh on the phone. "Are you okay? What time is it there?" He asked.

"I'm fine, just having a little jet lag. It's morning right now, it's at night in Korea isn't it?"

"Orh... it's hard that the timezone's different," Taehyung said, "Anyways why am I the one calling you first? Didn't I tell you to call me? This punk..."

"Araseo araseo, I'm sorry. I was taking a nap. The plane was uncomfortable so I couldn't sleep in the plane," I answered.

"Whatever, my parents are home so I'll be having dinner with them now. Don't forget to call me later."

"Yeah alright, annyeong," I said to him and we both hung up. I smiled and put my phone aside.

I went down to the kitchen and saw my mom setting the dining table. I gasped when I saw the table was full of Korean cuisines.

"You cooked all these? Eomma jjang! (Mom's the best!)" I exclaimed and quickly took a seat. Mom softly laughed and sat opposite me.

We started eating our breakfast when my dad suddenly talked. "Hyejin ah, you can start school tomorrow. I've registered you in a high school not far away from here, I'll send you to school tomorrow."

"But appa... I'm still new here..." I said, trying to get my dad give me more time to rest before I enter school.

"You're new, and that's why you have to quickly make friends and learn more about the people around U.S," Dad said to me.

I sighed and just stuffed a spoonful of rice in my mouth.

After eating, I went into my room and continued unpacking my stuff. Honestly my things didn't fill much around the room since my room was really big. Once I was done, I threw myself on the bed. Many thoughts still bothered me. I don't know if I can adapt with the people here. I don't know if I can make friends since I'm an awkward person, I didn't even make much friends back in Korea.

I spent the rest of my day caged in my own room and watching K-Dramas instead of preparing myself for school the next day.

"Hyejin ah, wake up! You need to get to school already!" Mom called me. I woke up and stretched. I groaned at the thought of having to go to school. I took heavy steps to the shower and quickly got myself ready. I went to grab my bag when suddenly my phone beeped - it was a text from Taehyung.

"Annyeong. How are you? What are you doing? Can I call you? Do you miss me?"

I chuckled at him asking me many questions.

"I'm doing fine. I'm heading to school now so I'll call you next time, alright? And yes I miss you, alot." -Hyejin.

With that, I walked out of the room and went down for breakfast. Minutes later, I got a reply from Taehyung.

"Ah... araseo. I miss you alot more. All the best for school, 화이팅! (Fighting!)" - Taehyung.

I smiled and continued eating my breakfast before I went to school.

School was finally over and it wasn't so bad. I met a Korean girl, and she was friendly. But it was just awkward because I didn't really understand much about what everyone was talking about since they talked too fast in English.

Anyways after school, I quickly headed home and ran into my room. I sat on my bed and turned on my laptop. I went on Skype and Taehyung was online. I was about to send a video call request to him but he already did before me. I fixed my hair and checked how I looked on the mirror before I accepted the video call request.

"ANNYEEONNGGG HYEJIN!!" He shouted and waved his hand when he saw me on the screen.

I laughed and looked at him. My eyes were filled with tears of happiness. "Annyeong Kim Taehyung!"

"Yah why are you crying. Don't cry, pabo," Taehyung said.

I smiled,"Whatever. Did you sleep? You'll have to get to school in an hour or so right?"

"I tried to sleep, but I couldn't. That's how much I missed you alright, you idiot. And don't talk about school, I can just skip it."

"Yah Kim Taehyung! You better not skip school unless you're really sick-"

"Oww... my stomach hurts, I think I can't go to school today," Taehyung pretended and started to rub his stomach.

I rolled my eyes and chuckled at his poor acting skills. We chatted for awhile when suddenly I realised he was hugging something that I recognised.

"Yah, that lion soft toy is mine, isn't it?" I asked him.

"Yeah, you gave it to me when I went to your house before, you don't remember?" He answered.

"Ah... Of course I remember. You still keep it?" I asked and he nodded.

We chatted for about 2 hours before I realised he had to go to school. "Yah, go get ready for school. We'll talk next time," I said.

"Nooo... 5 more mins," he begged and pouted.

"Nonono, you'll be late."
"Pleeaaseee...?~" He begged again, acting all cute.

I rolled my eyes and laughed. "Yah, your aegyo doesn't work on me. It's disgusting. Hurry go to school, you can't be late."

He sighed and nodded. "Okay, fine... remember to call me soon, bye," he said and I nodded before we both ended the video call.

Weeks and months past and school got more stressing for me. I had alot to catch up with about my English, I had to make friends with the people in school, I had to catch up with my studies, and I was pretty busy. My parents even sent me for extra tuition classes. Because of my tight schedule, I barely had time to talk to Taehyung, and also because our timezone was different. He frequently sent me texts but I replied very rarely.

One evening I was just done with my tuition class when suddenly Taehyung texted me.

"Have you forgotten me already? You found a new friend huh?"

I sighed. Not another stupid text again. He had always been sending me texts saying I have forgotten about him and stuff. I got frustrated and I became lazy to reply to his texts or even talk to him on the phone. Moreover, I was really tired after all the tight schedules, and my exams were drawing near, which got me even more stressed.

Since then, Taehyung and I barely talked, not even text, or video call.

Until one day during December, I was done with my exams and was on a school break, when I suddenly received a call from Mina. I quickly picked it up.

"MINA YAH! How have you been! I've missed you!" I spoke loudly on the phone.

"Yah yah! My ear hurts. I've been good, and I missed you alot. What are you doing?" Mina said to me.

"Well it's school break so I'm just chilling at home. Anything to update me about?" I asked Mina.

"Ah... well, haven't you been talking to Taehyung? That guy has changed alot suddenly these past few months. Well I mean, he didn't talk to anyone in school, and he looked really sick all the time. He's back to beating up people in school again, and he didn't even talk to Jimin and Jungkook," Mina said, and my eyes widened. I suddenly got so worried about Taehyung.

"Oh? That's strange... I thought he doesn't make any trouble in school already. What else did he do?" I asked.

"I'm not sure. He was often called into the principal office. Oh yes, a few days back I was jogging in the park in the morning, when I saw him sitting on a bench and he was crying alone. I asked if he was okay, but he pushed me away and ran off," Mina told me.

My heart got a little broken hearing about Taehyung being like that. I gulped. I guess it's all my fault for neglecting him, he must've needed me.

"So, how is he now?" I asked Mina.

"I don't know. It's school break, so I'm not sure what is he doing right now. I tried asking Jimin and Jungkook to look after him, but they were unsure how to because Taehyung doesn't really pick up his phone, and he won't open the door when we come to visit him."

I sighed. "Ottuke... I'm so worried."

"It's okay, I'll try to get Jimin and Jungkook for help again, Taehyung will be fine. Anyways, when will you come back and visit Seoul? I really miss you..." Mina said.

I thought for awhile, "I don't know, I need to ask my parents about it."

"Ah, right. Our school will be having a New Year party end of this month. All students, teachers, and even alumni are invited. Can you come?"

"Jinja? Wah... sounds interesting..."

"Please come, alright? I'll wait for you. Tell me if you are coming. I have to go have breakfast with my parents now, annyeong. I'll talk to you next time!" Mina said.

"Araseo, annyeong," I replied and ended the call.

I sighed and lay on the bed. Thoughts about Taehyung flooded my mind, and I got worried about that kid. Should I visit Seoul?
