Prologue
The sound of loud chatters, honking cars, and overcrowded sidewalks and roads made the blonde haired boy more irked than his usual grouchiness. He sat in a bench after he gave up nestling through the crowd to find a nice, tranquil place to access his troubled thoughts just near the sidewalk, for it was vacant, despite the amount of people stampeding through the concrete floor, some wearing tuxedos and holding suitcases toppling over pedestrians yelling something about being late for work. Although, it was their fault for not predicting the outcome of having bustling streets earlier, and now, suffered the consequences. Pity how the pedestrians get to suffer too.
His teeth clenched tighter, his chin resting on his fists as he sharply exhaled, also breathing out a small cloud of mist suggesting the cold weather. His long sleeved top felt like it wasn't going to withstand the cold ambience of the air, much to his luck, the amount pedestrians lessened within half an hour, giving way to his designated route. He stood up from the bench and squeezed his hands through his tight, denim jeans, almost making no difference from the nipping cold outside his pockets, due to its thin fabric. He meandered through the bleak pathways, to his quest for silence, even going as far as going to the ends of the city. A sigh of relief escaped his lips, seeing the perfect place he was searching for, since noon. A bunch of disarrayed trees claimed the ground a few meters away from the boy, and through the small forest in front of him, he saw a huge clearing with one large tree planted in the middle.
Satisfied, he risked dirtying his leather, timberland boots. However, he still valued his clothing and footwear, avoiding the dangling vines ad the roots protruding from the ground as he walked through the narrow spaces between trees, getting closer and closer to the blur of lush green. He yanked a twig that intertwined with his hair, walking to the large tree and sprawled against the bottom trunk of the tree and threw the twig away.
He finally got what he yearned for for months.
Silence.
And all his efforts of studying and passing term exams was worth it, to finally let go of the noise caused by civilisation, and let in the sound of nature.
He felt his eyelids get droopy, and his breathing became more relaxed.....he felt something hard hit the top of his head, shaking off his sleepiness. He growled under his breath, looking up to where it came from, but only chipped leaves landed in his eyes. He let out a cursed whisper and stood up with a stomp, squinting his eyes at the cause. A flash of dark blue stood out from the green color of the leaves.
"Hey! Who's there!?" He barked, skeptically eyeing the figure that simply stood there as he felt it's eyes glaring, competing into his own furious ones.
The two had a glaring contest for a while, before the hooded figure started to rock forward, tilting it's whole body forward towards him.
"O-oi! What are you-"
The figure fell head first, its body crashed with the befuddled blond, before falling on the grass with a loud thud. Samaru groaned in pain as he felt a light squeaky wince coming from the figure that was laid in his chest.
He growled. "What the hell are you thinking, you-" His sentence got cut short, once he saw the hooded figure laying on top of him. Its hood fell back, revealing a dome of smooth, caramel-brown locks and a petite face of a girl, a stern expression was etched with a scowl-like frown and a grim glint in its golden-brown eyes that perfectly matched her straight hair that was tied in two twin tails, loosely falling down the sides of her neck, some of it brushing against his own neck. The girl remained unfazed with his awkward staring, her neutral frown turning glum in realization. Somehow, he can't take his eyes off her, feeling his heartbeat hastened, hearing it against his own chest.
The girl pushed herself with her one hand to the blond's side with an unfazed expression and body, like she's experienced falling down trees a million times.
Her eyes narrowed, raising a hand over her eyes, shading herself from the afternoon sunlight that made its way through the spaces between the leaves. Samaru still laid down, unable to comprehend the stilted situation.
"It didn't work..." her low, charismatic voice shaped her thin lips into a murmur, then in a split second, she stood up and brushed off dirt from her back, walking away from him as she raised her goodie back to her head.
His eyes widened and limped to stand, his eyebrows knit together indignantly.
"Hey! Aren't you going to apologize for falling on me!?" He yelled after her with so much confusion, anger, and also physical pain that he couldn't keep his own cool.
She continued walking, and only stopped after a few seconds after he yelled at her in such a tone. Her hood lowered, turning back to the vexed boy with a deadpan expression.
"..."
"........"
Without saying anything else, she swiveled her head forward and and traipsed towards the forest, leading to the main road.
The blond stood agape.
What just happened?
