Voices in my head

Hey guys. So I have a confession. I didn't write this brand new but instead from my other book of One Shots. I know I should write new ones for this book but I just loved it too much and found it too cute not to include. Besides, most of y'all probably don't read my other One Shots so probably wouldn't have read this one anyway. But this is the only one that I will take directly from my other book, I promise. So yeah. Hope you enjoy.

Patton was sat on his bed in the middle of his room, reflecting on all of his past memories when he heard a voice, more like a hiss, coming from the corner of his room. At first he tried to ignore it but the voice just got louder and louder.

"You're too childish"

"Grow up"

"You're not good enough"

"The others hate you"

"You're meant to protect the others but you can't even protect yourself"

"You're useless"

These insults were thrown at him like rocks, each one hurting more than the last. They may have been lies but Patton didn't realise this. He believed every word and nodded at each insult, tears pouring from his eyes like a waterfall. He thought that it was just his own thoughts, his mind telling him what he deserved to hear. But what he didn't see was the figure in the corner of the room hurling these lies at him.

Eventually, his crying wasn't just tears and he began to sob. He tried to silence his cries but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't. That's when the voice got louder and worse.

"You're so pathetic"

"You can't even hide your own feelings"

"What will the others think?"

"Everyone will probably hate you even more now"

As the voice continued to get louder, so did his cries until there was a knock on the door.

"Patton, are you ok in there? I could hear you crying and I just wanted to check on you" Patton smiled when he realised that it was Virgil's voice coming to check on him. This gave him a rush of relief. Maybe the others didn't hate him after all. He quickly wiped away his tears to answer the door but just as his hand reached the handle, the voice started again.

"Look what you've done now"

"You've made them worried because of your pathetic crying"

"Not that they actually care about you. They're only pretending to"

"I thought you were meant to be the one looking after them and seeing if they're alright not the other way around"

"You're so useless that you can't even do a simple job like that"

Patton's tears reappeared as he turned around and slumped against the door.

"L-leave m-me a-alone Virgil...please. I-I'm f-fine" Patton sputtered out. However, what he didn't realise was that Virgil could hear the voice as well.

"Patton, listen to me. Don't listen to that voice in your room. None of what it is saying is true. There are people who care about you. I care about you" Virgil told him and this made Patton's face brighten up. He stood back up and opened the door.

"Y-you do?" He asked.

"Of course I care about you. I love you" Virgil blushed a bit what he admitted that he loved Patton but Patton just smiled.

"I...I love you too" Virgil pulled Patton into a tight hug and kissed his cheek. The figure who was in the corner came forward now and walked towards Patton to try and taunt him some more. But Virgil spotted him and could recognise his acid yellow eye and scales from any where. He gently pulled away from the hug and glared at the figure.

"Deceit. I should have known that you were the one causing all of these thoughts for Patton. First me and now him. When will it end?" Deceit smirked.

"Never. You may be able to stand up to me but the others won't be able to. You can't get rid of me. I'm always here Virgey" Virgil carefully moved Patton to one side and stepped forward so that he was face to face with Deceit.

"We may not be able to get rid of you but we won't fall for your lies anymore" he clenched his fist and threw a punch at Deceit, knocking him out. He turned to Patton who, instead of scolding him for punching someone, just smiled.

"Thanks Virge"

"No problem Pat. I love you and I'd do anything for you"

"And I'd do anything for you" Virgil pulled him into another tight hug and they both gently kissed eachother on the lips. They then slowly pulled away from eachother, smiling and blushing.

"Do you want to go back to my room and watch a movie or something" Virgil asked and Patton nodded. He held his and and they intertwined fingers as they head to Virgil's room. Patton was finally happy again.
