Mary's Faith

"Good morning Mom how are you" she asked her Mom in cheerful voice.

Ms. Rivers replied " I'm fine by God's Grace and you she asked Mary.

Mary answered back " I'm fine Mom are you ready to go church? Mary's Mom said " Yes I am all set " why don't you sit down and have breakfast we have plenty of time church service don't start until 8:00am.

Mary replied " sure Mom I'm so hungry I can eat a horse!

Ms. Rivers laughed at her daughters response she couldn't stop laughing at her statement.

" It's not funny Mom " I'm truly very hungry she said in a whisper.

Ms. Rivers : I understand honey I know you are very hungry I can hear your stomach rumbling.

Mary: Hahaha very funny Mom " so whats for breakfast she asked.

Ms. Rivers : we having French Toast and Sausage with Tea and Orange Juice your favorite.

Mary: " it looks good I can't wait to try it and enjoy it very much.

Ms. Rivers: *You will love it.

So Ms. Rivers and Mary started eating their breakfast and continued to talk about life and holy spirit after they ate their breakfast Mary and her mother took their dirty dishes put it in dishwasher and upstairs to get ready for church.

While Mary was in her room getting ready she was thinking about her father and why he left her and mom when she was only eight years old when her parents divorced was he having affair with another woman or he just abandoned her and her mother because he didn't want to be father or not?

These questions keep popping in her mind but she will let go for while until she finds time to sit down and talk to her mother about her father disappearing in their lives for over nine years.

Mary when into the closet to pick a dress to wear to church so she kept looking until took out a long sleeve navy blue dress with ribbons on the top of the sleeves.

She combed her hair straight above her shoulders apply some light makeup on her face,put on some black pumps, pack her Bible and cellular in her black handbag look in the mirror for the last time if everything is in order and headed downstairs to meet her mother who eventually was waiting for her.

She went downstairs and her mother was wearing a green cloth with the alphabets from top to bottom wearing black shoes she looked more beautiful than ever for a fifty nine year old woman.

When her mother saw her she got up from the sofa with her black clutch in hand and looked at her precious daughter with a huge grin on her face.

" Oh my goodness Mary who looked beautiful my child all the men at church won't be able to keep their eyes off of you she said with excitement in her voice.

Mary's pov: " Mother please don't make me blush what are you saying mom you sound like I will get a husband very soon.

Ms. Rivers pov: ' come on isn't it true who are a beautiful young Christian woman who loves God and is very kind with a big heart who loves to help people in need no matter who they are '.

Mary pov: " Thank you mom it means a lot to me that you believe in me no matter what! it makes me feel good I make you proud your words of wisdom and guidance makes me feel whole my faith increase in spirit and mind with your words of encouragement and support of my dreams, goals and objectives of my career as civil engineer

" Thank you mom for your support and love I appreciate it very much.  "I love you mommy with all my heart and soul.

Ms Rivers pov: "I love you too dear no matter what paths you take I will always be there for you.

Since your father left us it was very difficult for me to raise you all alone without his support I had to work two jobs just to support you and your education without his help and support to raise you up but with your grandparents things were easier for me your grandfather will come to pick you up from school and bring him to his house while I was working, your grandma will help you with your homework and feed you until the time I came home from work from the hospital and we all  got together to have dinner,play games and watch movies as a family until it was time for us to go home.

" I'm so glad my parents are there to help me take good care of you for your needs and education.

Mary: "I wanted to talk to you about my father and why he left us."

Ms. Rivers: " Don't worry when we return from church I will tell you everything what happened between your father and I okay she said to Mary.

"Alright no worries but you will still tell me right? Mary asked her mother.

Ms. Rivers chuckled " of course no problem, we have to get going is getting late for us to attend church service she looked at her daughter and smiled.

"Okay Mom "let's go i don't want to miss service today Mary told her.

So Mary and her mother took the red car her grandfather bought for her on her 22 birthday as a gift and headed to church.

Finally Mary and her mother arrived on church on time,she parked the car in the driveway while her mother waited for her to park the car in the proper place on Dunwell Memorial Methodist church premises.

After parking the car Mary and her mother went inside with their masks on.

Mary and Ms. Rivers sat down on the bench starting praying with all their might and soul and sat up listening to the second minister during the prayer session before the service.

During the prayer session Mary had a vision about her father who was calling her and telling her to forgive him for Sins he committed against her mother for twelve years and wants to make improvements in their relationship and become close once again since she was nine years old.

"Dad is that you ! where have you been all these years" Mary said.

When she got up she realised it wasn't him after all, she saw someone that looked like him so she sat back down in her seat when her mother asked her " is everything alright sweetie she touched her hair with a concerned look on her face.

"Yes mom everything is cool! Mary told her in cheerful tone.

Ms.Rivers was getting worried about her daughter's outburst in church.

The Church Choir started singing hymns when everyone got up from their seats while the church choir were still singing hymns from their hymn books.

Mary and her mother were singing along with the rest of the members, than the songs ended and everyone sat down quietly in their seats.

Then the pastor arrived on the Pulpit and started preaching about repentance and forgiveness.

Mary listened carefully to the pastor and realized what he was saying about repentance and forgiveness was very impressed the words he was saying was so deep she felt it in her soul and spirit.

The sermon was so inspirational she couldn't get enough of his words of wisdom and knowledge about forgiveness and repentance.

After the service was over Mary and her mother were about to go home when her mother stopped her.

" Mom, what's the matter, are you Okay? Mary asked.

" I'm fine, I was just thinking about your father. This is the church we first met until he died in a car accident when you were nine years old" her mother said.

"So that's why I couldn't remember him. I didn't know he was in a car accident nine years ago, she said with tears in her eyes.

" Yes, that's exactly what happened to your father. He was on his way home to your birthday party on time when a huge tipper truck speeding on the highway slammed into your father's car and he died on the spot!

"When I heard the news I was heartbroken that the love of my life was gone forever. Miss Rivers started crying uncontrollably.

Mary walked towards her mother and hugged her and said don't worry Mom everything will be alright God is in control and he will help us go through the healing process with faith and prayers we will be just fine our faith and strength we will move on without my father "

Miss Rivers" thank you my daughter for giving me the strength to move on without him she smiled and Mary gave her a kiss on her forehead and they both hugged for the last time and went home with God's protection and love to finally move on with their lives forever as mother and daughter.
