15 - Row in the Lobby

You head down to the lobby for dinner that evening.

"I was supposed to be going to Croatia in 4 hours." She smiles.

"You'd rather be there?"

"Not for the world. Not with him." She laughs. "God, have you heard how much he complains? Something is always wrong." She takes your hand. "Things will be better now."

"Paige, what are we gonna do? We can't stay here forever."

She nods. "It's okay. We'll figure it out."

The entrance to the hotel opens. Your eyes widen as Harry, Tony, and Shrignold enter. Tony's eyes drop to Paige's hand in yours.

"There they are. Looking like a pair of does in headlights." He scoffs.

Shrignold runs over and throws his arms around you, nearly knocking you backwards. "Thank god you're okay!" He says.

"How did you..." you start.

"Find you? Ask Tony." He says. "I thought this was all wrong. We've argued all the way here."

"Tony. How did you find us?" Paige asks. Tony shifts uncomfortably.

"He put a tracking device in your handbag." Harry says when it becomes apparent Paige's question wasn't going to be answered.

She goes silent for a moment. "You did what?" She finally says. Her voice is quiet and there's an edge of hurt to it.

"I-"

"Don't make an excuse." She says. "How could you? I knew you were controlling, but this?" She shakes her head. "Why do you think I ran away? I was planning on doing it whether Y/N came or not, so don't you even think about blaming her."

His face darkens. "For fuck's sake, Paige, I try, and I try, and I try. I do everything to keep you safe. I show you so much love. I gave you everything, and this is how you repay me?"

Paige glares at him. "I hated every moment I was with you. If you think I'm stupid, if I'm not smart enough to notice your little mind games, you're dead wrong. You think proposing to me when we'd never discussed it, in front of everyone, when I was heavily intoxicated would lead to an informed answer? No. You knew it wouldn't. That's why you did it. You know had I been in my right mind I'd have said no." She pauses. "And a word of advice? If someone runs away from their wedding, don't use a tracking device to find them. I'm so unbelievably angry at you, Tony, you have no idea."

You take her hand and squeeze it. She's shaking.

Tony says nothing. "Fine. But don't even bother coming back."

Harry clears his throat. "I pay for the house. I think I should get to say who stays and who doesn't."

"So?"

"You bring too much negativity. I would take the entirety of Shrignold's cult over you."

"That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me." Shrignold smiles.

Tony looks extremely annoyed. He turns and storms back out.

"He's definitely just taken the car." Harry sighs. "Oh well. We could always get the train."

Shrignold looks at the two of you. "Paige. Will you be alright?"

She nods. "Yeah. I think so." She smiles, looking at you. "Things are much better."

"Good. I wasn't anticipating this!" Shrignold laughs. "When I saw you two having a bouncy time on the trampoline-"

"You saw that?!" Paige says, covering her mouth.

"Yeah. I just glanced out of the window and there you were! Anyway, I knew we were in for some drama, but not this!"

Harry shakes his head. "Well, let's gather up everything and get something to eat. It's all over with now."

A few hours later, you board the train.

Back home.
