Darcy Pov

So I was now home, I was back in my pyjamas, (because fuck the uniform), and I was on the couch, wrapped up in a blanket with a cuppa in hand while trying not to hurl, (yeah having that big of a meltdown will do that, no it's not a vibe), Dad was sat across from me sat on the coffee table, a worried look etched on his face.

"What happened Baby?"
"Um, (shakey breath in), Mum was at school, and and that freaked me and I don't know why, 'm sorry that you had to come home from work early-"
"It's fine Bambi"

I hadn't heard Dad use that name in years, and so when he said it, I burst into tears again and Dad scooped me up and held me like you would a newborn babe, (and I didn't hate it), (don't worry Dad did move my tea to somewhere safe), Dad babbled on about God knows what but it was calming because it was Dad, (though telling him that might've made his ego worse), about 20 minutes later I had stopped crying.

"How are you feeling Baby?"
"I don't know"
"That's ok, do you want to go back to bed?"
"Not just yet, just wanna stay with you"
"Ok, do you want anything on?"
"Whatever you wanna watch, just don't wanna be on my own right now"
"Alright Baby, let me know if you want to watch something else, ok?"
"Ok"

It was some old black and white movie, (if I attempted to remember all the movies that Dad had ever watched, I would have no room in my brain for important information), but I honestly think that it was on as background noise rather than Dad actually watching it, as he was rocking me like you would if you were trying to get a baby to sleep.

Now that the initial sadness and anxiety of seeing had mostly disappeared, I felt really bloody silly over having such a big reaction to seeing Emily, but I also couldn't snap out of whatever this weird feeling was.

"I feel bloody silly-"
"Why do you feel silly?"
"Because I shouldn't have reacted like that to seeing her-"
"She shouldn't have been at your school, not while she's still under investigation, I'm sorry-"
"Why are you sorry?, you didn't let her in"
"No, but I still sent you to school even though I didn't think that you should go-"
"I'm stubborn when I want, I would've gone either way"
