Darcy Pov

It was still late, Libby was asleep in my bed, I still couldn't sleep, so I went to Dad's room, as I couldn't take being alone with my thoughts any longer, (and Libby is a heavy sleeper, so no chance of waking her up).

"Hey Baby, you thinking about Mum coming back?"
"How did you know?"
"Because I know you Sweetheart, unfortunately for you, you get your worrying from your old man"

I then popped into Dad's bed, as there wasn't much else that I could do, plus he didn't mind as long as we put the covers back how we found them, plus I think it made him feel a bit more useful as we got older.

"I don't think that I could ever look at her without thinking about her fake dead body, and if I get past that I'd probably have a screaming match with her"
"You don't have to worry about that for a while, as there's an investigation into her"
"Have the coppers asked you about her disappearance?"
"(Kisses temple), Is that why you're worried about Mum coming back?"

That man knew me so well, and it was well past the point where I didn't say anything as to not worry him, as I had already gone into him so that I wasn't alone with my thoughts and feelings, so I just came out with it.

"Yeah"
"Oh Baby, you don't have to worry about that, they did ask me before you came back from school and I gave them my bank statements from the last 10 years-"
"What do they want that for?"
"Well they didn't ask per say but I knew then there would've been a payout of insurance or something like that if I knew that she wasn't dead here"
"I suppose"

I was less worried than I had been, but it didn't mean that I wasn't worried anymore, and I think that Dad knew that as he knows me so well, he started to run his fingers through my hair like he used to when I was having the reoccurring nightmares about Emily's swinging body.

"You don't have to worry about me Darling, I'm a big boy, I can handle it"
"I know that, where did you learn the fingers trick?"
"Besta used to do it when I had nightmares about my Dad's death, (kisses forehead), it helped when you used to have those night terrors"
