After a while, they started to see the red glow again, and they could now see the red glowing quills on the ground better.
Sonic got excited and accidentally yelled, "YES FINAL-" knuckles immediately tried to shut up Sonic, knuckles whispered then "shut up sonic, or you'll scare them away, or attract wild animals to us..". When tails heard that, he immediately hid behind his fluffy tails and trembled from fear. "Are there really wild animals that could harm us here?". Knuckles and Sonic both looked at tails, with pity in theire eyes, sonic then said in a calm voice "it's okay, we are here to protect, if sth happens, don't worry buddy, no wild animals will hurt you". Tails got a bit relaxed and then sights in relief. They kept following the glowing quills until they vanished again. "damn it!" Said knuckles, frustration clear in his voice. They kept going now with the flashlight, barely seeing the quills. After some more good moments, they finally saw a dark figure, next to a tree, the quills, leading to it. The trio stayed silent, not wanting to scare it away or make it attack them. They knew it was a different hedgehog, even tho it might seem impossible, their eyes were not lying...
Sonic then fought for a moment. *Wait.. It's really another hedgehog. How can that be.. aren't i the only one left?...*
Sonic and the others couldn't believe it, but they stayed quiet, not knowing if it's dangerous or not. Sonic approached slowly and said in a calm and quiet voice, "Hey buddy..  are you lost?". Just as they thought nothing will happen, the black hedgehog turned around ND saw them, his pupils widened and he tried to run away but sadly his leg was tangled up in lianas and just as he stood up and took a step, the lianas pulled him back making him fall to the ground, the hedgehog groaned in pain and tried to get his leg free, he was panicking a bit.
The trio saw that and tried calming down the hedgehog. The first tails spoke in a calm demeanor, "Hey..  it's okay, we won't hurt you.. we're here to help. "
Short after Sonic agreed with tails. "Yeah, we mean no harm. Please calm down, buddy." All three of them put their hands up, in a way to show, that they mean no harm. The hedgehog looked at them but kept struggling for a bit more until it calmed down. When Sonic saw that the hedgehog bad calmed down, he slowly appeared it and freed it from the lianas. "See, you don't have to be scared." The hedgehog stood up, balancing himself on the tree. He looked at them a bit confused but grateful at the same time. Knuckles spoke in a calm but louder tone. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" The hedgehog looked at them for a bit. There was an awkward silence for a few minutes. The hedgehog then opened his mouth and said in a quiet voice
"I'm shadow the hedgehog."
