The hedgehog then opened his mouth and said in a quiet voice
"I'm shadow the hedgehog."
*end of flashback*

The trio looked stunned, and their pupils were very small, knuckles then stuttered, "w-Wait the PROJECT shadow? Y-you know t-the one that escaped G.U.N like.. 2 days ago?..."
Shadow then looks down and then to the sides as if he was scared of something "yes I am.. but please don't say it out loud, I can't let G.U.N catch me again.. please." After a whole, the trio processed what had happened, and then they looked a bit concerned for shadow, finally sonic spoke up, his voice quiet and calm."What do you mean? Was.. G.U.N not.. uh, how could I say that?"
Before Sonic could finish, shadow interrupted him and spoke in an annoyed tone. "They were horrible to me!" All three of them then looked at each other before their gaze went back to shadow. They had concern and sadness written all over their faces. There was another awkward silence between them, before Shadow finally said, "and red one asked what I'm doing here... well, like you know, I escaped G.U.N. and well... now I'm lost here.." Right after that, knuckles immediately said."Oh yeah, sorry.. my name is Knuckles, the echidna."
"And I'm miles tails, the fox! Bht you cab call me taiks"
Sonic chuckled and then also said, "Yes, and I'm sonic, sonic the hedgehog." Shadow looks at them and gives a small gesture of understanding and then repeated "Okay so knuckles" he point at knuckles "tails" he does the same to tails "and lastly sonic" and another time pointing at sonic, "is this correct?" The trio nods at shadow, gesturing that he was correct.
"So.. why.. did you guys help me?" Shadow looked at them, and the other three looked rather confused, sonic, then spoke up, sounding concerned."Well.. you looked like you needed help, and we help everyone in need." Tails nodded and agreed."Yeah! We love to help." Knuckles also nodded. Shadow understood but was still skeptical, "Even tho you know who I am?" The trio looked at each other and then back to shadow. "Well, yes.. but we still want to help, even if it means to help you or an enemy." Said sonic confident.
