I, Frankenstein
I just watched this movie like thirty minutes ago, and decided while it's fresh in my head to review it! This movie was alright.
It wasn't so amazing I waned to scream (see Nightcrawler for a reference to an amazing movie) but it wasn't so awful I wanted to cry.
To be honest, I couldn't stop watching it. Now, to warn you, the first forty minutes drag on. There shoving fantasy down your throat and your like "STOP PLEASE".
And then the plot actually starts to get good. Now, it might to due to Aaron Eckhart (he has a nice shirtless scene, a super hot gravely voice, and his super protective nature over Yvonne Strahovski's character is adorable)
The acting is good and the fight scenes are SO bad ass (demons vs angels expect the angels aren't angels) but everything else sort of falls flat. There's like zero character development, not tons of super interesting dialogue, and almost no chemistry between any of the characters. (They barley built the love interest. He was all of a sudden protective over someone he met once; he was also using said character so yeah.)
The fight scenes though, those have my thumbs up.
Overall, I'd say the first forty minutes are ehh. The rest of it is like OH! cool! I would suggest watching it, only if you're prepared to be weird-ed out and laugh at some of the ridiculousness and randomness of the first forty minutes.
It has:
- 5.2/10 on IMDb
It was nominated for:
- ASSG Award: Feature Film Soundtrack of the Year
