Chapter Four
John Pov
Guess what time it is?
Time to go to Hell.
Isn't that just fucking great?
Anyway, I walked to school as usual, with my earbuds in and listening to whatever came on my playlist. It was a pretty messy playlist that consisted mainly of explicit country rock.
But today I noticed something.
Less of something, and more of someone.
That someone was a boy on a motorcycle, a cigarette propped in his mouth, trench coat on (totally rocking the Jason Dean look) and his vibe practically screaming fuck you and your family.
Now I thought, huh.
That looks a lot like Alex, the kid Eliza tried to seduce while he did math.
Then I realized,
oh fuck!
That's Alex!
Not gonna lie, I wanted to ask him about the tattoo. But my main question was, who the fuck would wear long ass sleeves and a heavy coat at the end of summer. It's still fucking hot out.
He sped past me, flicking his cig on the ground. Damn that's badass.
I think my cigs are all stale though. Haven't had one in months.
I gripped my backpack and continued my weird jog speed walk.

I want to bang my head against the table until I have blood pouring from my ears. Oh, if you couldn't tell, I'm in class.
More specifically, Science.
I looked around the room and saw a very familiar trench coat. Then I looked up and saw quite familiar ginger hair.
"So please have your materials by next Friday-" Mr.Morris was cut off by the bell ringing.
Everyone got up and started to leave. "Hey! The bell doesn't dismiss you! I do!" He exclaimed.
Literally no one listened.
Thank fucking god this is my last class. I saw Alex walking down the hall and made a decision.
It was a pretty shitty decision but once I had decided, there was no going back.
I caught up to him and said, "Hey, you're Alex right?"
He glanced over to me and looked me up and down.
"What's it to you?" He asked.
"Well I need friends so-"
"Tough shit," He muttered, walking away.
Fucking bitch.
I went after him, successfully catching up.
"What the fuck do you need? Drugs? I don't have em. Go to a druggie or somethin'." He said.
"I already told you. The only thing I need is friends." I said.
"Well isn't that just great."
He muttered. "How bout this, you leave me the fuck alone or I'll stab you." He said.
"You wouldn't dare."
I hissed.
Then he took out a pocket knife.
I didn't like that very much.
"You wouldn't." I told him.
"Famous last words." He said, continuing to walk.
"Why do you wear a trench coat in the fucking summer?" I asked.
"Why do you bother me in the fucking summer?" He mocked.
I rolled my eyes.
"What's your tattoo mean?" I asked.
"None of your fucking business."
He snapped.
"Hey, I was just asking-"
He grabbed my collar and pulled me down to his height, putting the pocket knife between us.
"Don't stick your nose where it don't belong." He growled.
He let go of me and pushed me away, glared at me then walked off.
"Yeah? Well fuck you too!" I called.
He gave me a thumbs up and kept walking.
"Coward!" I shouted.
He didn't stop walking.
I groaned, and glared at him as he walked away.
"I want death." I muttered, putting my earbuds in.
"Same dude,"
A guy said, passing by.
I groaned yet again. I didn't know it was possible but somehow, I managed to walk faster to my house.

When I got back home I dropped my bag and collapsed on my couch.
"How was school John?" My mom said, already sitting in the living room.
"Just great." I said, my voice muffled. "Did you see Peggy?" She asked.
I gave a thumbs up.
"Did you make any friends?" She asked. I put a thumbs down.
I tried to make friends.
I didn't do so great though.
"Do you have homework?"
She continued to ask.
When do I not?
I sighed, sitting up.
"Just four months until I'm out of high school." I muttered, trying to reassure myself.
"Mhm,"
My mom hummed.
I sighed again, walking upstairs and to my room.
"Hey John?"
Harry, my younger brother said.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Want to come play catch?" He asked. "..Not really." I said, walking away.
I heard Harry sigh and mutter, "I'll ask go ask Patsy again then."
I turned around.
"Actually..you know what?" I asked. "..what?" Harry said.
"Let's go out front and play catch," I told him, smiling.
He broke out in a grin and practically sprinted down the stairs. I followed after him.
"Where are you two going?"
My mom asked.
"Playing catch, See ya mom!"
Harry exclaimed.
"Be safe!"
My mom called.
I closed the door and went outside.
I really have to bond with my siblings more.
I'll be leaving for college soon. And if something happens to them..
like how something happened to Jemmy, and I hadn't bonded with them, I'd be forever guilty.
Call it a freak accident, but I still blame myself for Jemmy. I should've been there. I would've told him to get off the damn roof. I would've told him to not jump over to the railing. I would've called an ambulance.
But I wasn't there.
So I've gotta make it up somehow.
I know I really can't, but I've gotta try somehow.
