He turned towards me, having got over his momentary panic. He hissed at me, saying, 

"It isn't any of your business what I do, and it's best you spend your time in other ways than slinking around in bushes."

I retorted, mewing,

"I'll try to warn you, but if you continue playing with her like a mouse, you will get bit."

I kept the conversation short, turning around, and padding back home.
