Estelle Blofis

A/N Ooh, Percy's half-sister.

Estelle pov

I started doodle on the edges of my math worksheet. It was about three-quarters of the way done, but I didn't feel like doing it anymore. This wasn't shaping up to be a great day. Science was boring, Math is boring, Hums was sure to be boring, and I knew Donelle would find me again at recess or after school. I hate Donelle.

Not to mention, Mom and Dad were going to be at a book-signing for Mom's new book after school, so I would have a babysitter. I like it when I have Percy or Annabeth as my babysitter, but they were probably busy with work, and my other babysitters aren't as fun, though they're still good. They had finished college a while ago, and Annabeth and her brother Malcom had started Athenian Architecture, while Percy was shaping up to be a leading Marine Biologist (or that's what Dad said). Even if he had wanted to study surfing in college.

My pencil stilled on the page as I remembered something. Percy and Annabeth had taken a week off work to visit Annabeth's cousin Magnus and his friends in Boston. Magnus was an einherji (Dunno if I spelled that right...) so he technically wasn't supposed to make contact with people who are still living, but the reason they were going was because it was some sort of anniversary of when the Chase Space, the homeless shelter in Annabeth's uncle's old house was opened. I didn't really know the specifics.

But the point is, Percy and Annabeth had said that they were only going to be four days in Boston. So technically, if everything lined up exactly right, there was chance they were my babysitters tonight. It was the exact sort of thing Mom would do to not tell me about it, she loved surprising me.

Thinking of further on in the day made my mind drift back to Donelle. She always teased me because my hair's what people call "salt-and-pepper". She mostly just called me names, but sometimes she would push me around too. Her parents had held her back a year before putting her in school, so she was bigger than everybody else. I found it ironic that Donelle's name means lady. She's anything but lady-like.

I glanced up and saw my teacher coming down the aisle in between the desks. I resumed my math, realizing that I would get in trouble otherwise.

{--|--(Anjali has come in order to timeskip you to the end of the day, after Estelle managed to avoid the dreaded Donelle at recess.)--|--}

I bit the inside of my cheek as I waited for whoever would be babysitting me to pick me up. I hadn't seen Donelle at recess, and hopefully I would be able to avoid her now as well, but one could never be too careful.  My eyes scanned the parking lot, looking for my babysitter. They would be one of three options: Percy and/or Annabeth, who I was obviously hoping for, a guy named Payton, who would always have water fights with me in our tiny bathroom because we live in an apartment building without a yard, or this girl named Lucia, who always brought me stickers.

I was focused on looking for whoever it would be - too focused, because a whiney, self-entitled voice spoke from behind me. Donelle had found me. "What are you doing, Weird Girl? Looking for somebody who will like you? Sorry, but nobody could like you with your weird hair."

I flinched as I turned around to face my bully, forgetting about my babysitter. "Donelle, please-" I heard a car pull up behind me, and two doors open and shut, but I payed it no mind as I faced Donelle.

"Shut up, freak. Nobody wants you here." I winced. She said the same things every time we encountered each other, but it still hurt. "You should just go find some hole to curl up in. That's all freaks like you deserve."

This was normally the part where she would shove me or kick my ankle, and then walk away, but instead, an angry voice spoke from behind me. "What did you just say to my sister?"

I whirled around, met with the sight of an extremely angry Percy, with an extremely angry Annabeth standing beside him, her arms crossed. They made for two very intimidating figures when they were angry, and Donelle stuttered as she said, "Y-your s-s-sister?"

Annabeth practically growled as she spoke. "Yes his sister. Don't you know it's wrong to bully people?"

"So if we ever see you doing it again, this is your only warning." Percy chimed in.

"Y-yes sir." Donelle glanced at Annabeth. "And ma'am." I have to admit, it felt kind of good to see Donelle scared. That's probably not a good thing to say, but she had been bullying me for almost a year.

I turned to Percy and Annabeth as Donelle ran off, grinning at them. "So, you're my babysitters?"

Percy smiled back, but it looked kind of troubled. "Yup. How long has she been bullying you for?"

I shrugged. "About a year, I guess."

Annabeth wrapped her arm around my shoulders. "Why didn't you say anything?"

"Because I could handle it, and if she wasn't bullying me, she would just find a different target, and I'd rather her bully me than somebody else." I said honestly.

Percy smile became a little more genuine. "Well, I don't think she'll bullying anybody anymore. Still, I'm talking to Mom and Paul and the principal."

Annabeth grinned at him as she said, "Now, what do you say we go home and make some cookies?"

"As long as they're blue," Percy insisted.

"Obviously."

A/N That was fun to right. I love the idea of Percy being super over-protective of Estelle. Also, I'm not in college, and I therefore do not know how college works. No judgement.
